Great location and value for money.”

The friendly staff, the location and value for money.

We booked the Albion Hotel using an internet terminal (which isn't the easiest to navigate with) at Christchurch airport. When we got to the hotel approximately 3 hours later at 11am, we asked if we could store our luggage until we were due to check in at 2pm. The receptionist checked our booking & told us we had booked a twin room & not a double room. I offered to pay the $10 difference if there was a double room available, but was told that was not necessary. We were asked to take a seat & in less than 10 minutes we were told our double room was ready and given the keys. The hotel is under new management & was being refurbished, but it did not effect our stay in anyway. The staff are friendly & make a real effort to make you feel welcome. The hotel is situated within easy walking distance from the city centre, Sky Tower & also the airport bus stop. We would definitely stay there again.

Classic with great location”

The location and exterior design of the hotel.

The hotel looks classic as compared to other building surrounding it. It has a great location too, as it is located opposite the Sky City Terminal and Auckland Sky Tower. It only takes minutes to reach the harbor. The reception staff was amazingly friendly and she also allowed us to check in earlier and check out later than the usual time. The only setback is that the hotel has no lift.

Exceptional”

The hotel is just next door to the Auckland Skycity Tower and within 10 minutes walk to the bustling Queen Street which makes shopping easier. It's 5 minutes walk from my fav Tony's Original Steak & Seafood restaurant. You don't have to worry about catching up rides to & from airport because it's nearby the Skybus stop (just stop at stop #7001 Wellesley St) or the hotel can arrange shuttle for you. Overall the hotel has great ambiance. The reception is upstairs of its tavern but you have to exercise a bit if you have heavy luggage as there is no elevator.

Old list Irish British Themed Pub with a harm welcome”

It is very near Wynyard station last drop from the airport, a very short walk up the hill. Seems they have knocked down all the surounding building so this listed building stands proud. Great welcome and atmisphere, very helpful staff and great beer. We were on the top floor with a good view. Only down side was there is not lift, but the lads jumped to carry our cases up 3 flights of shares. Parking might be an issue but that is just Auckland. We found it perfect for a first night in NZ. Walked down the quays and around back up through town to the hotel and finished the evening with a great local dark ale.

I found the Albion to be perfect for what we needed and paid for!! The staff were helpful and always greeted us with a smile. The room was clean and comfortable, the bar was awesome we had a couple of meals there and were not disappointed. Let's face it people how much time do you actually spend in your room while on holiday, as long as it's a clean room with a bed, hot shower and toilet it's happy days! Thanks guys!!!

Great location! Easy access to the main sights in Auckland. I booked a triple room because it saved carrying my luggage upstairs, but the receptionist carried it up for me! Comfortable beds and modest facilities. I stayed here to round off my Contiki trip and would recommend.

We loved our stay at the Albion Hotel.”

Give me a 3-star wih exc service over a 5-star with poor service any day. The room was clean, the beds comfy (I slept like a baby), the food was tasty & value for $. Great $12 lunches. The location was fab, close to city centre, food halls/restaurants, buses (airport as well) & attractions. We walked everywhere. For us (daughter & I) the stand out was service. The manager went out of his way to accomodate us, even replacing our orig room to a better suited one (with a bath). I have fibromyalgia/arthritis so the 1st floor with a bath instead of the top floor was a life saver. The bar manager was lovely too, service with a smile. In fact we felt very welcomed and at home there. At $65 per night per person, it was a great place to stay. We would definitely stay again. If the things above matter to you, then you will be happy. If you expect perfection and nitpick at every little thing, then pay for 5-star, it may not be for you.

Tired but convenient”

cost, location, view

Albion is a little dated but is is in a good location near the centre of town and the room was clean with fridge and kettle, and got a good view of the church across the road. Rooms on the top floor meant climbing 3 floors with luggage, not so bad for me at 39 but my 55 year old business partner with a bung knee struggled a bit. no free parking around, and the staff made us concerned about leaving the car in the carpark across the rd. Didn't try the pub with food downstairs as was only there a night but looked ok. Perfectly acceptable for the price.

Nice Staff, cool artwork, Albion the lookout for a better place next time”

I am a sucker for older establishments in NZ, I won’t lie. The Albion was all that I needed it to be I supposed but it should be a bit more. First all of the positives. All of the people who work there were friendly, fun and fab and they really helped this place be more than it is so for that a huge thank you. Being a pretty kickass pub also helped matters. The building exterior and interior were old but renovated and really nice. ( with a few exceptions) the old school concert posters were amazing. Loved them all. But the gigantic construction project made it extraordinarily noisy from 7:00 am until 5;00 pm. It was hard to be on the phone. No remote for the TV in the room anywhere, none. Top floor meant 66 steep narrow steps up and down so be fit. No a/c or ventilation of any kind, just a $10 mitre 10 fan that broke when it fell over. And that fan was needed in 80% humidity. The bathroom was from the 70’s, maybe the 60’s and again no ventilation. No lock on balcony door.

Disappointing stay”

I found the Albion as a last minute place to stay after the hostel I was booked into turned out to be utterly vile. So, in comparison to That, the Albion was a welcome reprieve. The room was really dated, but this was okay. The window didn't fully shut, which meant the room got really cold, still better than the stink of the hostel. I was booked into a twin room, which was the only one they had left. One of the beds was pretty comfortable, which was handy since the other mattress was fairly rubbish. The bathroom was Very dated, the shower an all in one moulded plastic job that felt unsteady, but it was serviceable. The real problems came the second night when I had neighbours. I walked into the room in the evening and they may as well have been in the same room as me (our rooms were only separated by an internal door). The volume of their conversation was ridiculous and full of swearing, and their, erm, personal time later was All too clear to hear. Not ideal.

Price, location, easy to find

The Albion was a perfect place to stay if you need centrally located accommodation. The place was easy to find and it was a comfortable couple of nights sleep. It is very noisy at night so be aware of that.I would recommend this place to people on a budget but still wanting the amenities of a hotel.

Good value close to CBD”

This hotel is a little dated by modern standards, but it has a lot of character. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room I had was clean and tidy with an extremely comfortable bed. The only drawback that I noticed was a rattling sash window; but was informed that this was being addressed; and perhaps it might be worthwhile to install a power outlet in the bathroom for a shaver/hair dryer. Overall I was well pleased with the accommodation, would happily stay there again and recommend it to my friends
