I stayed one night here. The hotel is closed to Sunworld Hạ Long. And they can help you book cable car tickets with a discount. Alex, the owner, Đạt the receptionist and Mrs Thành the house keeper were very kind to me. I am sure that I'll be back here next time. Thank you very much for such a good time in Ha Long!!!

The host is very friendly and you can have help with booking trips and doing the laundrey. Unfortuenly the card machine was out of order so we had to pay everything by cash. Our room was big with a comfortable bed but the bathroom was not very clean, it was a used chewing gum and toothpaste on the shelf.

You booked twins room at our hotel with 2 single beds, How much did you pay for room: Only 150.000 vnd ( = 7$) for 2 peoples with Breakfast. How about our Room? Big Room, Clear, AC, Hot and Cool Water, HairDryer, Big Towel,.... How did we serve you? Warmly and conscientious. Well. You Should Remember that. Our hotel is little hotel and You had to pay $7 only. Lets thinking. $7 per room for 2 people with Breakfast. How can you do? We are really regret because served you with the best. We thinking you should stay at your home. Please don't travel to any where. We don't want to welcome the guest like you.

Much more than we expected! ”
On a backpacker budget we arrived without high expectations. The beds were the softest we've had in SEA, the showers were hot, the AC doubled up as a heater (soooo nice for the cold spell that was going on) and we had a kettle and a mini fridge in our standard room. The staff were really helpful! Hayley spoke perfect English and had a lot of great recommendations for how to spend our day in Halong city. We also booked our 6 hour Halong bay tour, and our overnight bus to Sapa from the downstairs travel desk. Since we checked out the morning before our Halong bay tour, we expected to come back to the hotel and to try and find means to spend the time until our 10 pm bus. The managers allowed us to use a spare room to rest after our excursion, let us use their computer to back up our photos, and when we walked past them eating dinner they even offered it to us, and brought us complimentary tea!!! It was very kind, unexpected and very much appreciated! Definitely recommend!

Absolute bargain hotel!”
We booked last minute and chose this place because it was £5 a night! The cheapest place we have stayed so far, so we initially we were anxious as we thought it was gonna be a dump. To start with the staff were very friendly. However the Alex hotel was full which we thought was bizarre as it was still advertised on here so we had to go to the "sister hotel" which was a 2 minute walk away. Again we were apprehensive. The staff did not speak a word of english but the staff from The Alex translated. The room was large with two beds (with extremely hard mattresses) it was very clean. No hot water though and we had tk use hand towels to dry ourselves. Overall for £5 we were very satisfied

A very nice hotel, a short tuk tuk ride from the pier where the boats go on their trips to the bay. Hotel is quite high class. Lovely rooms, bed and shower etc. Quiet location but near to the sea front. Halong a bit quiet. maybe better to go back to Hanoi rather than stay the night in Halong city as not much to do, but I cannot fault the hotel.I would stay there again.

Very basic hotel”
Hotel Alex has very basic facilities, but fair enough it is also very cheap. The main problems are that the hotel is very loud, hotel guests( or the family) were shouting in vietnamese on the corridor tilm late hours. The entry doors to your room are made of glass so you also see all the light from the corridor, which prevents you from falling asleep. There is nothing to do in Halong coty as well, which is not a problem of the hotel. There is a lovely lady on the reception though, which speaks perfect snglish and is very helpful

Friendly staff and not far from harbor”
I booked this hotel to experience the life of Halong. Though I arrived after after 6PM after my day trip through a taxi from harbor costing me 40k dong, the shops nearby were opened. Hence I could easily find food and fruits. I booked the transportation back to Hanoi here, it was 7PM but the staff who finished her work even came back who was perspiring because of me which surprised me. She was smiling and kind even I made her come back to work. She kindly talked to me the next day morning as well. It is a good place for you to try after a Halong trip who are not preferring to go back to Hanoi too early. However, it might cost you an extra since you have to book another way to go back to Hanoi.

They were getting work done to the hotel so there was a bit of noise but they were vere sorry. We also left our passports there and they paid for a motorbike to be sent to hanoi with them :). Really enjoyed our stay

Lovely bed”
Very comfy bed, big and light room. We were able to check in at 9am without paying more which was great. There is not much to do in Halong (except a cruise) that's why we relaxed almost the whole day in the hotel, very nice Staff not very good in English but friendly

It's good for wallet without high requirements”
I recommend this hotel for people who are easy-going, because this hotel is quite good even though it's only 1 star. The room is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful. It's also near the beach, night market, bus stop and fish market. One pity is that you'll have to take care of your meals, including breakfast. But with such reasonable price, I think it is suitable.

hotel is too old, poor furniture. room is dark and small. I book room for national holiday so price is more expensive than normal. However, the hotel has position near by to sea, convinient to eat and play and frienly staff. But next time I might not be back here again at this price.
