Lovely short break”
We had a really lovely little 2 day break at Alexander house hotel. We were made very welcome from the outset - the receptionist and the porter that gave us a tour were both super professional and friendly. The facilities are really excellent - the hotel is very well presented and maintained. Our room was lovely - extremely comfortable bed and a large bathroom with a great freestanding tub for two and separate shower, twin basins etc. The spa is a real treat - we loved the pools, and especially the outdoor jacuzzi. The only slight gripe is the food - we only ate in the 'Reflections' restaurant so can;t comment on 'AG's, but the food was pretty standard fayre and in my opinion quite overpriced. Also the staff in the restaurant seemed a bit stretched, particularly during breakfast time as there were a few complaints flying around. Absolutely no complaints about the staff though who were all absolutely lovely and really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I would absolutely recommend Alexander House and would also visit again in futre.

Nice hotel but OUTRAGEOUS price for TINY room with small window”
Alexander House is advertised, rightly, as a posh, luxury hotel. The facilities answer to that description. So does the price. Unfortunately the room we were given for the price of £330 with no breakfast was tiny (as was the window). I was prepared, and happy, to pay a high price appropriate to a luxury hotel. But our room ("Spruce") was almost entirely filled by the bed, and no floor space to unpack a suitcase. I spoke to the duty manager. She was very nice but not empowered to do anything about it. She said she'd raise the matter with her superiors.

Outstanding”
Alexander House is an outstanding hotel and an amazing experience! We recently visited with friends for 2 nights as part of my husband's 70th birthday celebrations. The staff were fantastic and could not have been kinder. From Afternoon Tea to being in the outside Jacuzzi in Decembe was perfect and we can't wait to return! Thank you AH for making it so special!

Fantastic break”
We spent 3 nights at the hotel and fully enjoyed the excellent facilities. Despite having other family commitments in the area that kept us busy, it was a real pleasure to return to the spa and the hotel to relax and spend some time together out of the hassle and bustle of life. My only slight cricism was the staff were too attentive! Service was efficient, quick and the food excellent. This is a very relaxing hotel and spa and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Will certainly be back.

Great Stay”
We stayed for 1 night and the level of service from the beginning to end of our stay was excellent, friendly and professional. The food and service in AG's was also very very good. We didn't use the spa treatments so cannot comment on that, but did take a dip in the pool which was nice, if a little small. The only thing I would point out is the price of the wines, they are a bit over priced.

Relaxing stay”
We took a chance on this hotel for a wedding anniversary treat, having struggled to find a room anywhere for the actual night itself. We were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is fun and luxurious, the design and decor is very well done and, although it was plainly packed out (being a Saturday night near Christmas) it managed to accommodate everyone without the place feeling rammed. There was adequate staff to take care of everything, and it seems well run and extremely courteous. Our room was a bit pokey - up in the old attics, with rather low ceilings - it was cosy and comfortable, and I think we were lucky really to have got a room at all, as I said before. It is pricey, and although I have agreed with the hotel's rating of 5 stars, this ISN'T Claridges. But I think as accessible spa hotels, only just over 1 hour's drive from our Shepherd's Bush home go, this is good value for money. There are two restaurants but we were too late to get a table in the 'fine dining' restaurant, so I can't comment. The informal Reflections restaurant is fine as long as you are not expecting 5 star food; the service is certainly good, the food not bad. I had a local fish of the day and it certainly was fresh and nicely cooked and presented. The spa is great, altho9ugh I would have liked more private changing cubicles; there seemed to be only one. The pool area is nicely done with an excellent hydo-therapy pool. We had good treatments too. The spa day offers look like good value. WE would definitely go again.

Excellent facilities is a lovely setting”
We badly needed time together to just chill out. The Alexander House was the tonic and worked its magic on us.

Perfect stay”
We returned for a Christmas party this year and enjoyed it even more than last year! The food and service were excellent at the party, with our waiter giving genuine care and as the hostess I felt he supported me looking after my guests. We also treated ourselves to a stay in a junior suite (Goodwood room). The room is a really good size with decadent decor and lovely bathroom. The view isn't great but to be honest the room is so lovely I didn't feel the need to look outside at all! We both had treatments in the spa and they were fantastic, as is the spa itself. We will be back next year for sure!

Room”
Not impressed with room. Felt like the cupboard of the hotel. Tv in a bad position and the room could not take it. Bed superb and very comfy. Road noisy and room too hot. Spa is lovely. Staff in hotel and spa very professional.

WEEKEND ESCAPE FROM LONDON”
From checkin to checkout...everything was seamless. Nothing was a problem, in fact a real 5* hotel. Friendly staff, even installed a DVD player with a selection of films for the kids. Only drawback was kids couldn't use swimming pool as it was located in the spa.

Beautiful hotel, fabulous staff”
We had a lovely stay, the room was lovely and couldn't fault the staff. The only problem we had was being situated right next to the store room access door so at times this banged continually for an hour. In future I will always book through the hotel too as paid a lot more than we should have by going online for a deal. Have learnt my lesson.

not 5 star”
Our stay was reasonable, but there were lots of small details that were not the usual 5 star standard. For example, when we arrived and were taken to our room, we quickly realised that there was no bar of soap in the bathroom. We had to ask for it. There was no hand moisturiser in the spa toilet, surely an absolute basic for a spa toilet in a 5 star hotel. Also, although there were dried fruits and seeds in the spa lounge area, there were no herbal teas, etc. and also in the relaxation room there were no spa refreshments (even teas/water). Also although there lots of glossy magazines, when you lay on the reclining chairs, it was hard to read anything due to the poor lighting in the room. And the pool was too cold. Finally, the food was very good, but of a similar price to some michelin star restaurants we've been to, but not the same standard. We've been to lots of different hotels and this reminded us of many 4 star ones, but not the 5 star ones - I'm not sure how they managed to get 5 stars at all.

Great trip away”
The stay was great. The spa was excellent and all the rooms were very good. The food from the main restaurant was under whelming for the price. However a great wine list. The staff are exceptional and nothing is too much trouble for them. A warm weekend and no air conditioning in the room meant the room was roasting over night.

Excellent ”
Everything overall was excellent. Only thing is I paid £335 for a Spa Suite without breakfast included. I felt it would of been more value for money is breakfast was included with the room price.

First time outside of London”
Our best experiences were in the AG restaurant. The food and our server were so enjoyable. We’ve had three soufflés so far on this trip and none have come close to their strawberry soufflé. Our server was a real positive in our dining experience. The older concierge who waited by the door made us feel welcome and comfortable. We arrived an hour early for checkin, having just come from the airport and jet lagged. The younger French man at the desk said he would find us when our room was ready. We had lunch and enjoyed the outside area. We were completely forgotten. My husband checked twice during that time period. It was almost an hour after regular check in time before we were in our room. It wasn’t a great first impression.
