Amazing Staff in the center of Yangon”
I had an excellent experience at Alfa Hotel in Yangon. Though basic, the rooms were spacious and comfortable, with all necessary amenities, including in-room wifi. The staff at Alfa Hotel go above and beyond to make your stay perfect, from the management who were responsive to all of my e-mails prior to arrival, to the front desk staff who not only give you directions or call you a cab but are happy to give you restaurant recommendations, "insider tips" to the city, or how to tie a longyi. They also helped me to arrange a side trip to Kyaiktiyo Pagoda and Bago. Their rooftop bar is the perfect place to have a beer (or dinner) while watching the sun set behind Shwedagon Pagoda. Overall a very wonderful experience. I cannot praise Alfa Hotel highly enough.

Friendly Hotel in Central Yangon”
Great stay at Alfa Hotel. Friendly, helpful staff with excellent customer service - everything is delivered with a smile. Walking distance to Shwedagon Pagoda, Kandawgyi Lake, People's Park and Chinatown Market, but also has a perfect view of Shwedagon Pagoda from the rooftop bar "Sapphire Lounge" for those days where you just want to relax. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with hot water and good water pressure. There was wifi connection in the rooms but it was not very strong (it was stronger in the lobby or rooftop). Would highly recommend Alfa Hotel for anyone staying in Yangon.

Convenient and friendly hotel”
Alfa Hotel is our top choice for a stay in Yangon. It was so good we stayed there twice - terrific location (walking distance to the main market), great breakfast spread with local cuisine, warm and helpful staff. Wifi was fair in the lobby but not great in the room. The Internet connection was just fair as is standard in hotels in Myanmar. Overall, although overpriced due to current market for accommodation in Myanmar, it is a reasonable and pleasant option.

A good hotel which is steadily improving”
This hotel has been under new management for the last 6 months, and they are clearly making improvements all the time. Much of the furniture, and soft furnishings in our room were brand new and everything worked (except the WiFi part of the time in our area, but OK in the lobby). Wallpaper was old and needed replacing, but that was the only thing that looked a bit shabby. Staff were excellent, and their level of English was quite adequate. The Sapphire Bar on the rooftop was a great place to eat barbecue and get an all-round view of the city(if you go up there just before dusk, you can see millions of bats flying South from the Shwe Dagon temple area. Breakfast was excellent. If you are comparing this hotel with ones in (say) Thailand, then it is high price, but we only just managed to get a room in Yangon, and that was booking many weeks ahead. So, they can fill the rooms at these prices, and good luck to them as they are clearly improving things.

Alfa is a nice modestly priced hotel near downtown Rangoon. It is handy to several must see locations. It is known to taxi drivers so returning to the hotel is easy. Rooms are generous, clean and staff is attentive, helpful. Views of the Shwedagon Paya are especially dramatic from the roof deck. Nighttime views of the city while enjoying a beverage are perfect. Breakfast is diverse, generous and wholesome.

We were there for business and event was at Tatmadaw Hall... it was a great choice to say Alfa hotel as it is just few min walking distance to event hall. Staffs were friendly, room was acceptable, easy to move around.. few min walking distance some food area, royal park hotel, 24 hour café etc.

A Pretty Good Place”
We stayed five nights at the Alfa. Yangon was busy the week we were there and the Alfa was about the only hotel I could get. Its not the prettiest or most up to date hotel in Yangon, but after getting used to it we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff is really great and really go all out to please with a big smile. The location is great and although a bit spotty, the wifi worked great. The breakfasts aren't tye best in the world, but the food is good and they really try hard. I'd definitely stay there again.

Wonderful trip to Yangon”
I stay in Alfa Hotel for 5 nights dan has no problem to go to all attractions in Yangon by taxi. You can negociate the taxi fares before go into the taxi so that you can get reasonable charges. The map given to us was useful, easy to access the place of aon without tour guide.

Great location, good breakfast buffet”
Would definitely recommend Alfa Hotel and would stay there again. The location is great and convenient - downtown and just 4 blocks from Bogyoke Aung San Market (aka Scott Market), or a 10-15 minute walk from Trader's Hotel. The rooms are pretty decent, clean standard hotel rooms with aircon. Wifi is both in the rooms and in the lobby and 2nd floor restaurant. The wifi was fast. The staff are also very friendly, and the breakfast buffet is pretty good - they do a big set up every morning. There is a good local noodle shop down the street, as well as a few local restaurants and coffee shops with wifi around the corner.

Though it is a small property, the rooms and hotel is kept very neat and clean. the staff is very helpful and friendly.Hotel is very close to the city centre. For the rate you pay, it was a very good deal, specially in Yangon, where it is difficult to find a deccent hotel for less than USD 150.

Comfortable and Convenient”
I was looking for a place that was conveniently located near the exhibition hall but doesn't charge crazy prices and then I came across Alfa Hotel. Through local knowledge I understand that this hotel has improved its standards since years back. I was fairly surprised at the amount of foreigner guests it caters too and how fluent the staffs are in English. Most of them have experiences working overseas and can answer most of the questions if not all about the area. There is quite a number of food stuff to eat around there and a market place that is great for shopping. Alot of 2nd hand items and jewellery at affordable prices. Definitely will return.

Good service and location”
Alfa hotel was suitably located near the market and Shwedagon paya. Both can be reached via a 15min walk or a 5min taxi ride. It is located about 45 mins from the airport. With wifi in the rooms, its a pretty good deal. Service was excellent, especially when we tried booking a domestic flight, which the service staff tried to help us arrange.

i wrote a review earlier on thsi hotel but thought i would add a few comments. one of the difficulty with myanmar (right now anyway) is that all transactions are in cash. since the hotel bill is one of the main expenses during a stay, it means carrying around a lot of cash. one advantage of the alfa hotel is that you can book it through agoda, print the voucher and they accept this as your prepayment. needs you need to know for sure how long you will stay or make multiple reservations. the alfa hotel has internet, but it's not very reliable and you have to search out which corners of the restaurant have good enough connections.

This hotel is perfect for a stay as it's a central yangon,location is one of the best,room is spacious but old n nice Sapphire bar at level 12 rooftop. Breakfast can be improve as it's almost same everyday. nearby 3 min walking distance to Yaw Min Gyi (Boyar Nyunt Street),i went there everyday for meal,beer n wine,there's lot of pub,bar,restaurants and massage,my flavour jap food,local cuisine n mala xiangguo.I love body&foot massage at Singapore foot reflexology,skillful style n strength power.just feel relax n a warm street . Recommended hotel if price ok. Easy walking distance to many tourists attraction like Bogyoke market, junction city, Chinatown.. Sure we will be back.

Very friendly staff, decent rooms”
I stayed at Alfa for 12 days. I never had any real issues there. Location is not as central as others, though it's just a brisk 20 minute walk (or 5 minute cab) into the central business district - and is closer to the nicer northern area of Yangon. Staff were quite eager to please, and were as lovely and genuine. Decor/upholstery could use refurbishing; the shower curtain should be replaced without delay; and the hot water heater needs to be fixed to maintain a comfortable shower. As far as value for money goes, which is pretty lousy in Yangon, generally, Alfa is not a bad choice.
