Clean, cozy, great location”
My significant other and I stayed at the hotel for three nights. We arrived in Kyoto around 8pm from Narita airport. The check in was smooth, staff is friendly. The room we stayed in was a semi double room on the 6th floor and was exactly what we expected. Great water pressure by the way. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to be near Kyoto station. I can see how some people have commented on the room size being on the small side. It didn't bother us as we were only there to sleep. Breakfast starts at 6:30am promptly. Highly recommend it if you plan on starting your day early. We were there during cherry blossoms season and it was nice to be able to get on the day early as many gardens and temples open early. Thank you Almont Hotel Kyoto for having us!
A wonderful stay”
A short walk from the Kyoto train station, you will find a big convenient store and behind it is Almont Hotel. Relatively new, the hotel serves up a delicious breakfast Japanese breakfast spread and boasts a cosy public onsen(public bath). The staff are helpful and friendly. The room is substantial in size and big on comfort. If you are not sure what to do around Kyoto, there is a little library for you to browse and plan your days out or simply borrow the books and head up to your spacious room to start your research. The public onsen isn't huge, but it opens till 2am on certain days. If you are not sure what to do, read the instructions in your room. It isn't too crowded in either the female or male onsen so that helps if it is your first time getting into one. The female onsen password changes daily so female guests are protected and can be assured of their safety. The hotel room toilet is fairly spacious and well equipped for a refreshing shower after a whole day of exploration. A revisit is definitely a yes.
Great Location and Customer Service”
The location of the Almont Hotel is perfect for anyone who wants to be near Kyoto central transportation hub. Less then 10 mins from the Kyoto Station, you can jump on a train, shinkansen or bus to take you to all the gorgeous sites that Kyoto has to offer. The breakfast buffet features Japanese and Western choices that are delicious and filling. We ate our fill for the day and didn't feel the need to eat until Dinner, you are that well fed. The minimal prepaid cost for the breakfast is worth every cent. The accommodations were new, clean and although we had a single double bed it was comparable to a USA Queen bed which fit my 6'1 husband and myself quite comfortably. The hotel staff have a good understanding of English and make every attempt to help you if you require their service. We enjoyed our 1 week stay so much that we are already planning to book our adult son the same accommodations for his December trip to Kyoto.
Very lovely hotel and value for money!!”
This is the best hotel I had stayed in Japan, out of all three. First, the location of this hotel is very good, it is very close to the Kyoto station, about 5 minutes walk. So if you take Shinkansen trains, this will be a good choice. It saves you a lot of time and stress on getting to the station. Second, the hotel's facilities are very new and nice. The room I stay in was very nice and specious. The standard of the room was much higher than other economic hotels. It was very quiet, and staff were very helpful. It has WIFI access in rooms, which makes everything much easier. Many hotels in Japan only provide LAN internet, and using your mobile network is very expensive in Japan. I really enjoyed my stay in Almont Hotel, if I would go to Kyoto again, I will stay with them again.
Nice new hotel with friendly staff”
We stayed in Almont Kyoto just after the CNY. The hotel is close enough to the Kyoto Station which is within a few minutes walk if you can make your way out of the Kyoto Station. There is not much direction guide in the street to lead you to Almont. One must do some homework in order to get to the hotel without straying. The hotel is opened in Dec 2012 which gives a fresh and welcome feel to the customers. Rooms are clean and adequately large. Breakfast is sufficient but lack in selection. The public bath is definitely the best feature of the hotel besides of the friendly helpful staff.
Excellent stay in Almont Hotel Kyoto on Christmas day”
We had booked 2 nights at Almont Hotel. The hotel is quite near Kyoto Train Station. So, very convenient for us to travel around Kyoto and outside Kyoto. The front desk staff are very polite. We left out baggage in the counter on our last day and came back in the evening to collect. We used the Onsen bath for the first night. The Onsen is split gender. There is only one pool available in each room and it happened that night there were twenty over people in the onsen. So, quite crowded. (did not enjoy the onsen). We used the washing and drying machine. It is coin-operated and washing powder is provided with the machine. Our overall stays is wonderful.
Modern amenities, great staff, quiet location”
My friend and I had a great experience at the Almont Hotel in Kyoto. As of 2014 the hotel is relatively new so the bathroom and appliances were all new. The room was huge (with a small table and chairs near the window), and the bathroom spacious - which in Japan is not easy to come by. It's located in a quiet neighborhood but just a couple blocks from the train station, which is excellent for those traveling Japan by rail. It's not too far from downtown Kyoto, walking distance to several amazing Temples and close to a bike rental place as well. I looked forward to coming back to the room each night. The breakfast buffet is quite expensive but has a lot of items that as a vegan I found easy to eat.
Great service, average location ”
Stayed 4 nights at Almont Hotel. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and even though language was a barrier, they sincerely tried their best to explain everything to us upon check in. Breakfast buffet had a great variety and was worth the price paid. Wifi was available in rooms and was fast and reliable. Although the onsen was small, it was clean. On the bad note, the hotel wasn't in the most ideal location. It is located 10mins walk away from kyoto station and there's nothing to eat nearby or any shops along the way.
A superb new hotel very near Kyoto Station”
We had a fabulous experience at Almont Hotel. The staff were friendly and well trained and helped us to book a very exclusive Kaiseki cuisine restaurant. The japanese bath was clean and modern and was an excellent way to relax after long days walking all the sites of Kyoto. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Kyoto. The 3 bed room was comfortable and spacious. We travelled from Tokyo by train and were able to locate the hotel easily. It is very near the station and if you take the correct exit from the railway station it is a five minute walk.
Good location, beautiful hotel, attentive staff”
The Almont Hotel is easy to reach, located approximately 10 minutes (walking) from Kyoto Station. The hotel is immaculate, the staff is gracious & helpful. The one time we called the front desk about a minor issue they had someone at our door in under 5 minutes & the issue was fixed (they even sent someone the following day to ensure the issue was taken care of). The rooms were clean & were a nice size. They included an electric kettle & refrigerator which was very helpful. The staff even gave us a card with the hotel information in Japanese to make it easier for our taxi’s. I recommend this hotel& will stay here again.
Great staff, brilliant location. ”
We spent 5 nights at the Almont whilst in Kyoto. Hotel has everything would need for a comfortable stay although there is no gym which was a pain! Staff are excellent, very helpful, friendly and accomodating. Hotel is located 5 mins walk from kyoto station, rear entrance. It's a quite and friendly part of kyoto and only 10 minutes walk to the front end of kyoto station where you will find all the shops, hassle and bustle etc Rooms are on the small side, which is the case for majority of hotels in Japan. A little disappointed with the breakfast but other than that a great and convenient little hotel with great staff.
Great place to stay”
Almont Hotel is a great hotel. My sister and I enjoyed our few days here, especially their hot bath. Definitely a way to relax after a long day of sightseeing. It is close to a convenient store, the mall and not way too far from the Kyoto Train station too. However, if you are carrying big luggages, I would recommend that you stay at a hotel closer to the train station as this hotel would require about 20-minute walk from Kyoto Train Station. It is also an added bonus to have staff that were very friendly and helpful as well.
Great value!”
Great hospitality, easy check in and check out, all staffs are very kind and helpful, never forget to greet us in every encounter. The location is very strategic (only 5 minutes walk from Kyoto Station). The room is spacious and clean. Amenities are more than we hope for (3 different kinds of towel for each person! room wear and a bag for if we go to public bath! shoe polisher and fabric freshener, and a lot more). Definitely will come back here on our next visit to Kyoto! Thank you Almont Hotel!
One of the best hotels I have stayed in”
The rooms were immaculately clean and very well designed. The beds were comfortable and the room always smelt and felt forest-fresh due to the de-ionise/ air cleaner that was in the room. It was an easy 7 minute, flat walk from the Kyoto station (exit on the west side, and walk left until you reach the second set of traffic lights and turn right). If you are too close to the station, you can hear the announcements at night - so this place was in a very quiet, clean and safe area. Kyoto station is central to all the major attractions, and after a hard days walking it was great to not have to have to transfer to different stations just to get back home. The staff were friendly and they spoke good english. When I return to this region, I will stay here again without any hesitation. This hotel was the best value for money I have found during all my travels. 10/10 for comfort, style, cleanliness and location. The management team at Almont should feel proud of their effort and attention to detail.
Comfortable and Cosy”
Almont Hotel Kyoto is a very accessible hotel just 5 minutes walk away from Kyoto Station. Although it is a little bit far from Gion, about 20 minutes walk away, renting a bicycle would help ease the trouble of walking too much. Cycling around Kyoto is a suitable activity given the many attractions not far from one another. We visited the Yasaka Shrine near Gion at midnight by riding there just to make full use of our time. In short, a pleasant hotel with nice breakfast, good clealiness and nice staff!
Amazing”
Kyoto hotel Almont (14 - 16 May 2014) The hotel is situated about 7 mins walk from Kyoto station. Initially, when I first exited at the east side of the station, I was abit lost as to where to continue walking. The slight rain made it worse as I was lugging baggage as well. Thankfully, there was a hotel just diagonally opposite of the Kyoto station and the staff was very helpful and directed me to the Hotel. Hotel Almont was very inviting and bright. The staffs are very helpful and check-in went smoothly and quick. The room was small (common in Japan) but clean and cozy. The Toilet was also small but clean and sufficient for a solo traveller. This was a first time I saw a air purifier in a hotel room. It is possible to visit most of the tourist attractions by bus as well if time permits. The Hotel is also walking distance to the bus terminal. In Kyoto, the pace is much slower and I enjoyed the quietness when I walked back to the Hotel. I probably spent very little time in the Hotel to explore around but based on my short time there, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. I would like to thank all the hotel staff for making my stay a memorable one.
First time to Kyoto”
My college-aged daughter and I stayed for two nights. We were very comfortable and found the Almont met our needs perfectly for our first trip to Kyoto. The staff was very courteous and helpful in helping us figure out bus/train routes for our sightseeing ventures in Kyoto. Breakfast was lovely and had a nice blend of traditional Japanese far and items to appeal to westerners. We will definitely stay at Almont whe we travel to Kyoto again - we would love to see Koto in spring or fall.
Almont did a great job”
This hotel was very new when we stayed in March, 2013. We had to book two rooms since they didn't have a room big enough for our family (two adults and two children) but that happens a lot in Asia. The Almont is about two blocks from the Kyoto station which made it easy to get around the city. The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms and facilities were all immaculate. The rooms we stayed in were teeny-tiny but comfortable and well appointed. The traditional spa was fantastic. Breakfast was included for two of us so we paid for the the other two. It was well worth it.
we love the place and our stay was great. ”
our stay at the almont hotel kyoto was so nice. hotel rooms are not that spacious but it was clean. hotel staff was kind and hospitable. we did not include breakfast in our booking but i think the food looks delicious.
Very clean and tidy, close to Kyoto station”
We stayed 5 nights in this hotel. I go with my parents. This is our first time travel to Kyoto and this hotel gives us excellent impression. It is 5 min walk to Kyoto station, with very clean rooms and toilets, there's public bath on the 2/F with laundry service at reasonable price. Breakfast buffet in Japanese style and is SUPERB, great variety of traditional Kyoto food, from main to dessert, we love the breakfast so much and looked forward to it every morning!!! All staff are so nice and friendly to us, very polite. This is really a great hotel that I highly recommend, please stay in this hotel when you travel to Kyoto, you will love it!
