Lovely little hotel in the middle of the resort. Clean and friendly staff”
The staff at Amaan Bungalows were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a great location and rooms where clean and a good size. The only disappointing aspect was the food. Breakfast was included but it was relatively limited. We choose not to eat at the hotel for evening meals as we tried it on our first evening and it wasn't very tasty, however there is an abundance of other restaurants nearby.
Great place ”
I stayed at Amaan over the Xmas week. It's a really neat and beautiful place for the village that it's situated in. The staff were friendly and helpful. The meals in the restaurant is OK, but breakfast is a bit boring and limited, but I would still go back there. It's location is central and so for lunch and dinner there are many many options to choose from if u walk around the village. Barack restaurant is amazing with their fresh seafood. Overall had an awesome week in Zanzibar
The Hotel Amman Bungalows is really one of the best in its own categories. Everyone do all for became your holiday comfortble. Manager Arshad - very kind and attentive person, you don't need to find someone for solutions of questions - he find you himself and every day asks how are you, do you have any problems and so on. The Chef in gril restorant - is the King of cooking. The beach - is really paradise. We are recomending this hotel in ratio price=service for rest on Zanzibar! Hakuna Matata.
Great hotel great location ”
Nice room in a good location near beautiful beach, restaurants, bars and village. Great value for money only let down is the food service. Breakfast is buffet style with sometimes random selection of mince meat, spring rolls or noodle stir fry... but they make you eggs the way you like them nice pancakes and selection of local fruit! Staff are friendly but bar service can be really slow and cocktails are not the best! We had an amazing time in Zanzibar and bungalows contributed to this!
Great location and beautiful views”
Very much enjoyed our stay at the Amaan Bungalows. Only thing lacking is the Internet in the rooms. Otherwise perfect. Thank you!
Nungwi - Amaan Bungalows”
Arriving in the middle of the night I was starting to get a little anxious as the road gave out and we appeared to be disappearing down a rutted dirt track into the middle of nowhere, but suddenly we pulled through a high security gated access and Amaan Bungalows appeared. Amaan Bungalows had arranged a transfer for me from the airport which worked without hitch, and whilst I was expecting to be allowed to wait in a lounge area until check-in time, I was surprised and delighted that I was given the key to my room at 02:30! The room itself was fine with a kingsize bed with full mosquito netting, a good size fridge, hairdryer and toiletries. The shower/wc was clean as was the bedding, however there were blood specks on the mosquito netting (from squashed insects), plus I had to shake out a few moths but apart from that the room was fine. A "picky" traveller would probably be put off by the fact that the wardrobe door didn't shut, and there were quite sizeable gaps at the bottom and top of the door allowing insects into the room, but fortunately I didn't encounter a single mosquito during my stay (early February). The resort itself is very pretty with a perfect location right next to the beach. The bars, restaurant and pool were all excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. The only criticism I could really make would be about the cleaners who seem to spend all day chatting and dumping stuff outside your room on your little terrace area.
First stop in Zanzibar”
Good location and excellent accommodation. Breakfast a bit limited. Lovely to have a pool on the beachfront. Staff were friendly ...Zanzibar such a happy place! You can get cheaper but Amaan is value for money for the facilities and accommodation. Northern beaches are also hard to beat.
Great location, friendly staff. ”
An almost perfect holiday. My only gripe is that I had booked a seafacing room with twin beds as we were two brothers travelling. Instead we had a standard double bed and a 2nd small bed squeezed in alongside, which meant there was no room to move around. Also no cupboard space so we lived out of suitcases for a week. Apart from that, a great holiday. Thank you Amaan!
4 nights in Nungwi”
Beautiful beach, the hotel was perfectly located. Pool was really nice and the rooms were excellent. Really glad we stayed at Amaan
i had a balcony with a nice sea view! its just that the room does not have a TV! good restaurant. for massage, choose the cheapest option(zanzibar massage @$15 instead of deep tissue massage @$25) because what the masseuse does is the same thing!
Very basic but in the midst of everything you need.”
First impression is an outdoor disorganised reception, busy with people either coming or going. That, as if driving into nungwi wasn't daunting enough with gravel back roads. Rooms are extremely basic, no tv, coffee facilities, only a sheet and throw for bedding on hard mattress. This was a four day stay, and in-spite of the above, the pool area is nice, if you can wrestle your way to a chair, which is always occupied by towels left by their owners in reserving them for days on end. You soon learn to smart up and put your own towel out early morning. 😣 The beach is tiny and overcrowded, but there is lots more beach on either side, so no stress there. The breakfast is plenty and the staff great. The happy hour cocktails were a nice addition to the pool and even though pool closes at 6, we were never chased away untill we were done. All in all, an ok budget stay. WiFi is terrible! No reception in room, people huddle in the public areas where dowmlaods may be possible. Water daily in room and great aircon a def plus.
Beautiful place, basic and simple”
Highly recommended ! Amaan Bungalows is a basic and simple accommodation, but is very well priced and on the beach!
Great location and super vibes”
Loved the place and the atmosphere in this place. Its located in the main beach area in Zanzibar. Super facilities and friendly staff. Ideal place to relax after a Safari
Both Good and Bad”
The beach is gorgeous! Incredible white sand and electric blue water. There are loads of bars and restaurants around. Amaan provides deck chairs, but only by the pool and not enough for all guests. It seemed that often the staff were doing catch up on everything. Plates weren't being cleared after people left a table, the pool area wasn't being swept in the morning (cigarette packs and bandaids are not appealing). The wifi also didn't work for most of our stay. Which in most cases wouldn't be bad, but it was Christmas and we were looking to message our families. Worst of all, upon check in we were told that the sea view room we booked was not available and the ONLY room in the hotel was a poolside room. It took 3 days of constant arguing with staff and managers until they finally reimbursed us the difference in price. This took a lot of our time and caused a lot of stress and lost time. Overall, I would not stay there again.
Locals are very friendly. Great location, right on the beach in Nungwi. Please do not visit in May as it is rainy season and FLY season. There are flies EVERYWHERE and you cannot eat your food in peace. I recommend a POOL VIEW room and not a SEA VIEW. The pool view rooms have been refurbished and the sea view have NOT. Sea view are old but more expensive which does not make any sense to me. The staff are helpful enough, the reception staff were good, especially Youssef. The food is nice in the hotel but expensive compared to local standards. If you walk out on to the beach there are two restaurants within a 5 min walk of the hotel. They are half the price and the food is lovely.
very nice location good and clean rooms excellent facilities and very friendly staff. and the best of all was Sifa Pangani she is the guest relation officer of the resort she helped us a lot in all our requirement where to go and to do and what not...and also Rose Jhon the lovely and friendly waitress of the restaurant who always had my table reserved and my ash tray...i wish them all the best....and the fish restaurant there is awesome fresh sea food and very cheap specially the lobsters...i recommend this hotel for long vacation for the good price and location
The pictures don’t show how great Amasn Bungalows is really. The pool is nothing fancy but good size and perfect if you don’t want to go to the beach. The beach is just 2 minutes walking and the view from breakfast is just amazing. Would really recommend it
Need for further improvement”
We were quite disappointed with the stuff at Amaan Nungwi Beach. They all were not service-minded, from the reception to the restaurant. The cleaning ladies even forgot to lock our room after finishing their work and we found it open late in the evening when we came back. We had to wait very long to be served the food at the restaurant and, honestly, it didn't taste super good.
Nice hotel for the price but do not expect nothing special”
Nice hotel with plenty of bungalows so you can choose where you want to stay if by the pool or have sea or garden view. We stayed in back garden view apartment house where was quiet to get a good sleep :) The "hotel" is quite large. Pool is nice clean sunbeds with pods are free. The hotel has no direct beach but nice large beach is 2min walk from the pool. Little dissapointment is the breakfest as is choice of 11 "menus" where 6 of them is eggs and 5 is pancake. We end up to rotate 2 of them... but you get fruits and fresh juice so it can be survived we did 12 nights. Like other wrote better and cheaper choice is to go for lunch or dinner to the near beach as the prices in hotel are not very expensive but on the beach are 2/3 and the meal is good and you are on the beach directly. overal i would reccomend to stay in this hotel if you get good price
Great Location and Bungalows, a bit rough around the edges!”
Had a great time. Shame no internet in the rooms and poor internet elsewhere. If you are by the pool suggest you use the sunset wifi as the pw is not easily available so fewer people are using it. We ended up with a double despite asking for a twin, but it was sorted out very quickly with an additional bed. Go for a seaview room! For lunch, ordered mixed veg pizza and it came with cabbage, carrots and celery! Not really what I had expected, but fed back to the staff that it was not really Italian. Waited almost an hour for lunch, but when asked by the manager and pointed this out, we had exceptional service from then on. Shame it had to be taken to the manager to get something done. When checking out, asked for an early breakfast and it was no problem.
