2 Bonus Nights in Athens”

The confirmed, then postponed air traffic controller strike resulted in our premature rebooking of our flights back to the US & we could only find flights scheduled for 2 days after our originally planned return. That meant we needed to find a place to stay in Athens for 2 nights after our trip to Santorini. We had stayed in Plaka for 2 nights before our Santorini trip so we wanted to stay in a different area. The location was perfect; we took the express bus to Syntagma Square from the airport and were pleased to find that the hotel was really only a few hundred feet from the bus stop as was the metro.. We also enjoyed the sights around Syntagma Square that we had not already seen on our previous stay. The room was nicely sized for the 3 of us (including one child on a rollaway) and we had a room with a balcony and a view of the National Garden and the Parliament building. We enjoyed the breakfast both mornings, especially the Bougatsa, which I am still thinking about.

Amalia - a good choice in Athens”

Clean, comfortable room, good location
Basic amenities

The Amalia is a good choice of hotel with clean rooms and a convenient location just off Syntagma Square. Considering that a lot of hotels in Greece are quite old and worn, we were happy with our stay here and the breakfast buffet was especially good.

Great location if no protests!”

Location, breakfast

the hotel location was fantastic, within walking distance of pretty much every sight one would want to see in athens. the buffet breakfast spread was great, but for its quantity, rather than variety. same fare every day, but you can eat your fill and not need to worry about hunger when walking to visit the sites. service was good, though no free wifi (even in lobby) and one free computer terminal made for some waits to check email. also, if there are planned protests in athens, look elsewhere. hotel is right near syntagma square, where all the protests take place. we had to stay in our hotel during our final day, as protests, riot police and tear gas were all present directly outside the hotel. in times of peace, no place better!

Very good”

My family and I stayed total of 3 nights at the Amalia hotel. The location is very good and ideal, more so if you will be joining tours from CHATtours (like our family) since the meeting place is just outside the hotel. It is very near Syntagma Square, very near where the airport bus (X95) stop is as well as the bus stop for taking the bus going to Pireaus Port is (they are not in the same location). It is an easy to walk to Plaka, Mitreopolis St. There are many restaurants nearby. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but clean with very good amenities. Breakfast buffet was just ok. We were quite satisfied with our stay because the location was really very convenient for our planned itinerary. Just make sure not to get a room facing the street ( even if it has a balcony ) because it can get a bit noisy specially in the morning when you still want to sleep.

Vacation Visit”

Excellent staff, excellent hotel, super clean, very comfortable, roomy rooms. Worth the price being asked. Very strategically located in the heart of Athens. Most of the major archeological and Plaka sites are in a 1.5 km walking radius. Very friendly staff. Room includes morning breakfast. Perfectly timed. Lots of variety. And good quality meal. I highly recommend this hotel.

Perfect location, Excellent Staff, Awesome View”

Looking for an ultimate place in the heart of tourist attractions, with a view... Look no further. We arrived a few hours earlier than checkin, staff was very friendly and provided us free breakfast for our wait. Also allowed us to use their luggage closet so we could venture the city while we waited for our room to be cleaned. This hotel is at the heart of all tourist attractions. You can reach areas with in 30 seconds to 10 minutes by foot. The tram is located right in front of the hotel and goes everywhere in Athens. The train is located approx 1 minute walking distance. Staff is very friendly and helpful in making an enjoyable stay. Breakfast was included, WiFi was included. This hotel only lacks a pool for those interested in swimming, however the beach is about 15 mins drive/tram.

Probably the best or the worst location”

Location

Well...it's Athens and this hotel sits right in front of the Parliament! If there's no protest then you're off the hook and you'll be staying in the most convenient location in Athens. But. If there's a protest? Now you're screwed! With all the noise, the car horn honking, the protesters shouting you name it it's there! The good news is hotel is right there next to Syntagma Metro Station and just 10 minutes walk to Acropolis and Plaka, 20 minute walk to Monastriaki if you don't feel like walking. Walk up Versailles Sofias and you're in Kolonaki where plenty of shops, cafe and restaurant and museums are.

Good location, clean room.
For us, no dissatisfaction!

The Amalia Hotel is in a very good location which is very closed to the airport bus station and also the metro station. We got a room with the balcony which we can enjoy the view of the National Garden, really great! The rooms are in good size and very clean. We also satisfy with the breakfast buffet, although not very good but provided with many choice.

Great hotel with good facilities and perfect location”

Room was very clean and more spacious than expected for a single room. Very good toiletries. Wifi worked perfectly. Breakfast which was included had a large variety. Location is perfect, close to everything, I did not use public transport once over the 5 days. You can walk to everywhere even the Acropolis. The only negative was the small, very small, shower cubicle, 45 x 67 cms. I knocked my elbows so many times and the shower curtain is stuck to you throughout your shower . I am 154 cm tall and not a large person. Anyone larger would not fit in there. Apart from that, perfect, particularly at a good price. I had room 301.

excellent hotel, excellent location - some issues”

We took a deluxe room. The location is great, the rooms are really nice, the staff are friendly, the breakfast is rich and the price is reasonable. The only issue is that the room is toward the busy street (opposite to the gardens so it has a nice view) but if you are a light sleeper you may hear the street noise early in the morning (although the isolation is really good). You cannot control the temperature in the room (slightly warm for me but good for my wife) and the bed is convenient but slightly soft for me (maybe it is a question of taste). Recommend

Review of Amalia hotel”

- convenient location - free internet in room (lan cable) - free internet at lobby (wifi) - can view the acropolis from the hotel's rooftop (need to request for access from reception counter)
- pillows are too soft - no bedroom slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste provided - no maps of athens etc provided at hotel reception counter

- Very convenient location with Plaka and Syngtama square within walking distance. National Gardens are just across the street from the hotel. - We reached the hotel at 10am and requested for early check-in. The staff got 3 rooms ready for us in 15 minutes. - Free internet (via lan cable), just need to ask for password from reception counter. - Fantastic buffet spread for breakfast. The croissants and scrambled eggs were nice.
