Friendly staff ad natural environment ”
This is a ideal place to relax and hangout. Variety of food according to all the nationalities. Local and foreign. We stayed during the Sinhalese and Tamil New year days. They had a fantastic Aurudu celebration with some national games. We also took part in some events we really enjoyed. Thanks to the management and the staff. Moreover we really enjoyed our stay with Amaranthe bay staff and the guests.
Not worth staying here unless you get a suite”
We booked a standard room for three nights but ended up upgrading to a suite after our first night and were extremely glad we did. The standard room is pretty rough -- outdated, a little dirty, and we got two twin beds instead of a double bed :( The suite was great though -- amazing jacuzzi and views, huge room, modern bathroom and finishes. And the staff were great! But the beach is where the action is in Trincomalee, and Amaranthe Bay isn't on the beach, so you kinda feel like you're missing out when you stay here. If I went back to Trinco, I'd stay somewhere on the beach, even if it's not as a nice.
A delightful place to stay”
We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Amaranthé Bay. Staff were very welcoming and helpful in all respects. We were upgraded to a junior suite room on arrival which was a lovely suprise. The room itself was perfect, with its own indoor jacuzzi, AC, TV with lots of channels and balcony. The bathroom was very stylish with a powerful shower. The staff always went the extra mile- they noticed it was my birthday and we found a cake when we came back to the room. The location of the hotel is not on the beachfront, but on the lagoon. We thought this was preferable as the beach was only a 5 minute walk away, and we could spend the evenings in the pool by the lagoon. We had one meal at the hotel- this was their buffet meal and was extremely good and fairly priced. The hotel outdoor bar has a good selection of cocktails (happy hour 5.30-7.30pm) and is a nice place to chill out.
Relax, Nice Staff, Lagoon View”
We booked the standard room, while we arrived , found the room is too small without any view, the worst thing is air condition machine is too close to the bed and blow straight to the bed. My wife hate this design. Then we updated to Suit Room with extra USD25 per night. It worths the money, the suit is really big with good view of pool and lagoon. This resort is small but relax, you can have breakfast at the bar close to lagoon. The price of dinner is acceptable. We have two dinner at the resort, first night is Sea food platter, taste good and portion is too much for us. But unfortunatedly 2nd day the loster is not fresh enough.
Friendly staff, junior suite is beautiful”
Friendly staff, good location, a little bit secluded but still only 5-10min walk to the beach. We went with the junior suite with jacuzzi in the room. Super nice. Highly recommend it. According to the hotel Agoda messed up our booking. We booked with dinner and lunch but the hotel only offers breakfast and lunch as a package. So they couldn't offer us the lunch/dinner package. But we decided to stay an extra 2 nights and instead we got a good deal on those nights. For the price this is a really good hotel. The hotel breakfast is also really good with different options. The breakfast buffet beats the lunch. 5min walk from the hotel there's a really good budget restaurant (Rice and Curry) if you wanna try a really good curry. Stay away from the noodles though.
Nice hotel for relaxing holidays”
We stayed here for 6 nights at the end of our Sri Lankan holidays. After travelling for 2 weeks around the island this place was perfect for relaxing and hanging out at the pool area. We booked a junior suite with a jacuzzi and the room was spacious, modern and very clean. On top we had a beautiful view over the bay. The garden and the pool area is very nice. If you like to go to the beach I would recommend to walk, beacause the boat transfer takes much more time. Breakfast and dinner was good, but could be better for the price you pay. We found also lovely restaurants in uppuveli, for a better price. The staff is friendly but very slow and lazy. Overall a nice hotel, but they could improve their service quality
Great hotel, awesome location”
Great location, though not directly at the beach you can either get their via a short walk through the neighbouring hotel or with the hotel boat at no extra cost. Hotel pool is lovely with a great view of the lagoon, staff alwasy helpful with any kind of questions. Only negative issue is the hotel restaurant. It's ok to charge high prices due to the location and the stars but then the food should also be on the same level. Quite some room to improve for the kitchen... Nevertheless worthwhile stay.
Lovely hotel ”
We enjoyed our time at Amaranthe, comfortable, clean, large bedrooms, friendly staff, nice food and well stocked bar. We will be back.
After a long drive from Colombo, it was a delight to have the front staff welcome my family and I to the hotel. We had four rooms in your hotel for two days and over the course of the four days we had breakfast, lunch and dinner and got to enjoy the use of the pool. Our room was upgraded as my wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we had a beautiful flower arrangement on our bed and an amazing view! Finally the jet tub in our room was a wonderful way to relax and enjoy the lagoon view at night. We visited the other hotels in the area for meals and we felt your hotel had something the others did not .... the people! They made us feel like family.
Good Hotel, Nice Staff”
We stayed in junior suite room which was a great surprise. The room itself was perfect, large room with its own indoor Jacuzzi, elevated living area with TV and balcony. The bathroom was very stylish with a powerful shower. The location of the hotel is not on the beachfront, but on the lagoon. Beach is just few minutes’ walk away. Nice swimming pool on the side of the lagoon. Very good breakfast and dinner, really value for money. Staff in the reception Rajith, Kelum, Buddika and Angela are really very helpful. They arranged pick-up from Kandy at a very reasonable rate. We whole heartily recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality stay.
Best hotel I've ever stayed in!”
Although Trinco is a bit eh and it rained a lot of our stay, this hotel really made up for it. The hotel was kind enough to upgrade us to the Junior Suite for a cheap rate - if they offer it to you you have to take it! The junior suite is AMAZING. We had a large, modern, luxury room with a private jacuzzi bathtub. The room was really nice and spacious, bed was comfortable and facilities were clean and modern. The room also is a 'tech' room with touch pad switches, controls and a spinning tv! The hotel facilities are also nice, with a big pool, nice grounds and river close by which you can take a kayak out on and enjoy. They provided free drivers quarters and accomodation, with free food. The driver said this was the best food and accommodation of our trip, which was awesome. The location of the hotel is nice, quiet. A bit far from the main town, but if you have a driver its fine. It is also close to a few good restaurants and food outlets if you have to walk. Had an amazing stay.
We greatly enjoyed our stay. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We also had an excellent driver to take us Aragum Bay.
If you can get a good deal - a worthwhile stay”
The stay itself was great - the views and location were wonderful. Anne was very helpful with our stay and made us feel very welcomed, however, we had a little difficulty with some of the other staff (mainly miscommunication and some staff not as friendly). We went as a group and half of the group paid over double the price for their room for the same dates, and were not provided the same options or inclusions. Although our stay was great, unfortunately, we felt it was not the best value for money. I would only recommend staying here if you can get a good deal.
Nice place, but expensive”
Had a good stay, location is great on the lagoon, not far from a good beach and a side road with lots of restaurants and bars. Room was very good, we had a junior suite, but think there are better value options in Sri Lanka (although not in Trinco, hence why we stayed here). Overall would recommend if you have the cash
We have had a three night stay, rooms are very well designed and equipped to suit the emerging tourism. Pool is very spacious and nice. Hotel is overlooking the Lagoon which is amazing, i thoroughly enjoyed reading and listing to music in the evening by the lagoon. GM Arosha is a very friendly dude, apparently he arranged an off ride drive for us in the middle of Nilaveli, It was amazing and non comparable. This was a memorable experience for us. I would recommend this hotel for all the travelers. Please try the off road drive if you happen to visit, where you can encounter plenty of wild elephants as well. "Simply superb"
We got a beautiful room and a cute gift on our Wedding Anniversary...thanks to the front office exec SHARON. The room was awesome. Food at the restaurant was good. Sad that we couldn’t stay for long.
Spectacular view of the Calamander Lagoon ”
This is an excellent location if you're a nature lover. All rooms offer the excellent views of the Calamander Lagoon. You can do canoeing and kayaking in the lagoon. Sunset is the best time for this activity. The rooms are in excellent condition. We had deluxe rooms and our rooms had Jacuzzis with glass shutters. It was very soothing to lay in the jacuzzi staring at the lagoon The pool is spacious and the tiki hut by the pool is also spacious and very cozy. The staff arranged us breakfast at the tiki hut upon request. Their breakfast is definitely a thumb up. The presentation is excellent. The breakfast accompany an assorted gourmet basket which is mouth-watering. The staff is very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. We whole heartily recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality stay.
This was an absolutely great 5 star hotel. Nothing to complain about, great service, great food, great location. The staff really go above and beyond. What a great place. Definately book yourself a room here. The jacuzzi wasnt working with hot water when we arrived and there is no gym (i know) but the location, the cleanliness, the lavish rooms, the stellar service, the pool and the food all feel 5 star. Highly recommend it.
The staff are extremely helpful and polite. They are always there to keep an eye on any need that might arise. For instance sometimes our driver drops us off without helping with our bags but we will have so many of aramanthe's staff rushing to help us with them while walking back to our room. Special mention to the receptionist who have helped us (I wrote down his name but lost the paper...sigh) we arrived in the wee hours of the morning unexpectedly early and he helped settle us in very comfortably. Love the jacuzzi in the junior suite. One thing though. The original rooms that we booked was very new and definitely not very ready... If you want to enjoy your time there, their junior suite which we later upgraded to... Has our strong recommendation!
Fantastic resort. Friendly staff's and we all enjoyed our self. Good job done guys. Palani B
