Definitely recommend for those who seek quiet and peaceful time with beautiful natural surrounding. It takes about 20-30 minutes to get to Alona beach, but it costs you only 150 peso to get there by tricycle, and more importantly, the private beach which was good to read, swim and take a nap was far better to me. The staff were really hospitable and all of the facilities were very clean and well maintained.
Loved the view of the ocean and the beautiful sunlight in the bedrooms from the deluxe room. Staff were friendly, kind, and professional. Quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was also delicious. Lovely.
See weeds galore and sea urchins”
The beach seems nice but there are tons of see weeds and sea urchins so better bring your slippers or aqua shoes when you explore and swim. Not great for kids. The resort is nice with great view but it may seem over priced for what it offer, I think.
The staff, the food and the location was excellent. The wifi signal was strong in our room and they made our stay there very comfortable. The beach was awesome and we got a good view of the ocean from our room. The cons would be that they dont allow food from outside the resort, not even fruit from a fruit stand ! Check out was at 11 and they turned off our wifi at 7 am. I felt like they were trying to rush us out. We had buffet breakfast every morning except our last day, they didn't explain why. Sometimes I ordered something from their menu and they come back to ask me to order something else because they it said it wasn't available, that was kinda annoying. I would stay here again to enjoy the beautiful beach and the peace and quiet.
Our visit to Anarella was wonderful and beyond our expectations! Every corner and furniture in the hotel has unique character, as most of them had been from old homes. Staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. Private beach was quiet and landscape was beautiful!
Absolutely amazing hotel! Usually you come to the hotel and you realize that it’s not exactly as in the pictures. This hotel is the same but from a different direction. It looks better than in pics! The stuff is super nice, very good restaurant, amazing vibes, good location if you don’t plan to party... My only problem was that they don’t have mosquitoes nets around the bed. A little bit surprising for such a high end hotel. It’s not fun chasing mosquito at the middle of the night.
Beautiful resort, perfect experience!”
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at Amarela. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and we enjoyed spending time in the dining room and library. We especially loved the hammocks on the beach!
Relaxed days in Amarela”
Located from Alona beach around 10 minutes drive, enjoyed a lot in a quiet place! The cleanliness of the private beach is not the best but good to have a place to relax & sunbathing. Had meals in the restaurant, view was good & food as well. Resort also offered free breakfast, and the breakfast was tasty too! Staffs were friendly, helpful and polite, very impressed. Room was clean and hot shower was great too!
Short but staff very helpful in my special needs for the moment”
I arrived with my friends with my fractured foot from the last resort . The front desk was very helpful in assisting me . Since I cut short my stay with them , and just stayed for a night to get immediate medical treatment on my foot, they helped me all the way til my trip back to Manila. Thank you,, especially to the driver which I missed his name , seeing to it that I got available wheelchair to assist me in the airport . I for sure will plan a trip to stay in your place again.. Thank you all !
Relaxing stay, will come back!!!”
Hotel has airport or port transfer vice versa, inclusive of your stay. Even though it’s on a higher range but you will get what you will pay for and more. Pool is well- maintained. Staffs are very accommodating. Our room 403 has beautiful view
The Department of Tourism rated Amarela resort as a 3 star hotel. It has a pool, a library and a garden. The beachfront is kept clean by the hardworking staff of the hotel. Panglao's beachfront is a long stretch of powdery white sand. It's nice to walk barefoot on the shore but wearing aqua shoes is recommended when swimming. There are sea urchins in the area. You would easily notice that Amarela's beach front is the cleanest among the rest and the most quiet. Nearby resorts have loud karaoke machines. Low tide happens at around 3pm. Sad to say that there were several plastic wrappers, bottles on the beach and seaweed. The staff of Amarela do their best in cleaning their area. I just hope that people would be more environment conscious. There are areas "infested" with seaweeds but you just have to walk a bit further to enjoy parts where there is less seaweed. I saw a lot of starfish near the shore. My dad and I enjoyed swimming as early as 530am. The water was calm and not that shallow. The best part of our stay was the food in the hotel's restaurant. It was delicious and not pricey at all. Those who worked in the restaurant were attentive and accommodating. It could have been better if frontdesk was more attentive in setting expectations. I thought we had issues in checking out but turned out that we were waiting on other guests before we board the free van to the airport. The frontdesk personnel could have been more proactive. He could also smile a bit more. Overall, I loved our stay. Thank you, Amarela.
We had a great stay at Amarela. The house has a wonderful setting in beautiful gardens with sea views and a lovely pool. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly with arranging a tricycle or car to take you to other parts of the island if needed. The restaurant on site does good food at reasonable prices. When arranging pick up from the port in Tagbilaran the communication was excellent with really quick responses. We would definitely come back!
best resort I've been to”
If you're looking for a relaxing vacation, this is highly recommended, and has the value for money. Good food, amazing beachfront, rooms are carefully designed/great details, superb service by the staff
Very friendly, quiet, next to a beach”
I enjoyed my stay in Amarela. The services were great and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We felt that we are well taken care of during our 3 nights stay. It is so easy to ask for assistance. Transport to & from airport is provided free. Motorbike rental is arranged and bike is delivered to hotel. Beach towels, snorkels, kayak available at beach. The beach by the hotel is probably the best one in Panglao Island. It is definitely less busier than Alona beach. If you prefer some where quieter then go to this beach. Alona is busier and more of a party beach. All the beaches however has seaweed which is actually not much of an issue but there may also be sea urchins. So watch where you step or best wear shoes for sea. Overall great experience staying in Amarela and thanks to the staffs that made it wonderful.
Comfortable stay in this lovely resort”
The staff were all friendly and professional. The pool was lovely. Every activity and transportation were arranged by the front desk perfectly with no hiccup at all. It takes approx. 5 to 7mins of tricycle ride (150 peso) to Alona beach for night activities. But even if you decide not to go to Alona beach, you can always at the restaurant in the resort. The food they serve is probably the best resort food I have ever had. I love their mango shake too. I would highly recommend Amarela to my friends and family.
Good but not great ”
Excellent - beach area, pool, clean rooms, friendly staff, view, service Good - rooms, artwork, setting Disappointing - not good value for money, overpriced tours and food, no conditioner and body lotion despite the price, when kitchen is busy they cannot cope with orders. Overall it was nice but not excellent. Good but not great. Probably would try somewhere else next time.
Staff were very hospitable and accommodating. Best part of island to visit if you prefer a quiet surrounding but accessibility to other parts of the island may not be ideal for older tourists as transportation is limited.
A GREAT find”
Whilst Amarela may not offer the facilities of the bigger 4 and 5 star resorts, if you want somewhere that has a cosy traditional feel, that has a story to tell, where you can relax and wind down, then Amarela is the place for you. The staff were professional, attentive and courteous. Rooms were most adequate, inclusive breakfast buffet was very good, lunch/dinner menu was varied, Goat Curry and the Chilli Prawns got our top vote but everything we had was good. We have already decided to return in early 2020. Thank you to Joanne for the tour of yhe property and brief history of the resort, were already looking forward to our return trip.
will definitely go back for a 3rd visit”
PROS excellent staff(front desk and restaurant) excellent location perfect for relaxation very good food CONS internet connection in my room was intermitent, perhaps it was due to its location, i was put in one of the farthest rooms. required to log in every time
Away from the crowds”
So nice to have a private beach away from the crowds- not fantastic for swimming as a lot of sea grass but still lovely. Great pool and quaint rooms. Enjoyed our stay very much. Would best suit older couples as away from night life and restaurants.
