Pros - Excellent location in the heart of San Telmo. Staff helpful and friendly. Beds private with USB slots and shelf. Good WiFi. Negs - Shower room is a space struggle, like playing Tetris. Sneaky percentage added when paying by card, this is not common place in Argentina. Breakfast is offered at a price, ample, but offered free elsewhere in country. Kitchen is incredibly small for the amount of guests.

Extreme rude receptionist”

Receptionist [young lady around 23 year old] were extremely rude, bad attitude, and negative behavior. I was told to shut up and wait when i ask her some questions. I was unreasonable requested to wait until 3.30pm until i can get into my room, being told it is not the check-in time, even though the room is available. I was being told false information regarding tango show was fully booked, I no longer trust this receptionist, i walk and verify myself and found IT IS AVAILABLE! PLEASE DISMISS THIS LADY ! SHE IS NOT THERE TO SERVE ! SHE IS THERE TO PRODUCE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FROM CUSTOMER !

Good quality, it just didn’t suit my “solo backpacker” needs.”

Clean, nice beds, comfortable, and staff is great and helpful. Kitchen access and buffett breakfast that costs extra. Downsides: en suite bathrooms in the dorms, so that it’s impossible for anyone to get ready in the morning or night without waking everyone else in the room. This led to very little sleep the 5 nights I stayed there (I’d have changed but I paid beforehand already). Also, ZERO life at this hostel. They hosted an asado but I’m veg. It’s a hotel vibe otherwise and very, very boring. Lots of unsocial couples and older people.

Made a last-minute booking, as I wasn't that impressed with my original hostel (the hot water was taking a long time in the showers, but mainly the whole bathroom area could've been cleaned on a daily basis + the mattresses/pillows of the other hostel didn't seem all that clean - although the bedware they gave was clean). Anyway, America Del Sur was fine in all the areas where the other hostel wasn't- and they were about the same price. Beds are comfy. The dorms are basic, nothing too fancy, but they were what I expected so I was happy. Good, hot showers with decent water pressure. Bring your own floor mat and handsoap ;)

super hostel”

It was the second time i was in Buenos Aires but the first time in this hostel, i stayed in a 4 dorms and everything was perfect, the beds are very comfortable, each room has its own bathroom and shower (separated), the staff is excellent, speaking very good english and very helpful, you even have free walking tours in the different parts of Buenos Aires with guides (speaking english and spanish). I definitely recommend this hostel.

Zuallererst ist das Personal extrem freundlich und hilfsbereit (sprechen alle spanisch und englisch). Das Hostel ist gut gelegen, in San Telmo, viele Restaurants in der Nähe und relativ zentral. Es gibt einen Supermarkt direkt gegenüber. Das gesamte Hostel war immer super sauber. Schöne Aufenthaltsbereiche, inkl. Grill zum Benutzen. Frühstück Standard plus (Brot und Toaster, Joghurt und verschiedene Cornflakes, Kaffee, Tee, Orangensaft). Mehrbettzimmer mit jeweils nur 4 Betten pro Zimmer, was super ist.
