Offers very good value for specific needs”
This isn’t a cheap hotel. The value proposition is interesting. For your money you get an incredibly oversized villa with heated private pool and exceptional service. The rooms are shabby chic - rustic opulent. There’s an abundance of marble and intricate detailing but done in a completely unmodern anti-chic and hippy kind of way. Breakfast is good because the food is ala carte but it isn’t like the spread at the Bangkok Marriott for example. The pool and restaurant are unassuming. If peace and quiet is your goal, and you aren’t looking for modern hotel amenities than this is your place. If you’re looking for a modern 5 star hotel, you’ll be disappointed. For a private getaway I think this place is great.
Much more than we expected and our expectations were high. Facilities and furnishings are luxurious, staff very friendly and helpful. Location right on the beach or use the resort pool or your own private pool. Spent 3 memorable nights here, very special.
Huge home away from home”
The pool villa is huge and very nicely decorated. The location is close to supermarket that the resort shuttle tuk tuk can ferry to and the street of shops is within 10mins walking distance. Lamai beach is just at the resort doorsteps.
The place to stay in Lamai area!”
The free drop off to anywhere in Lamai and pick up services are major perks for staying here. Makes exploring the area very hassle free. Only minus point was the beach, not suitable for swimming, this was in Nov. Overall very lovely Thai decor and interiors, it makes the stay a whole new experience compared to staying at a typical modern/contemporary style resort.
Spectacular 5 Star Resort! ”
Luxurious, spacious and clean villas with well thought out amenities (ours even had a washing machine and laundry detergent provided in case we wanted to wash our clothes!), great breakfast including freshly squeezed juices and made to order options plus an incredible beach with crystal waters and soft, clean sand. We were also thrilled with the free shuttle to Lamai Beach surrounds and complimentary airport transfer. The icing on the cake though, are the super friendly staff and both Jason (manager) and Steve (asst. manager) who were so helpful and efficient in assisting us with every need and question we had during our stay. Every resort needs a Jason and Steve! Stay here if you want to have an amazing Koh Samui experience. This resort made my time there unforgettable and Im sure to return!
Superb Thai architecture, too quiet”
Having stayed at numerous luxury hotels around the world, I must say that this one stands out with its stunning architecture and the incredible effort that was made to create a traditional Thai palace atmosphere. Simply stunning and worth staying 1-2 nights just for the experience. Everything about the rooms is superlative: size, comfort features, indoor/outdoor bathroom, electronics, etc. The one big drawback is that, even for honeymooners, it is lacking a sense of ambiance, just too quiet. Maybe it was the low season period, or the fact that they only recently opened. Hopefully this will be improved overtime. Perfect location for a wedding though...
A Royal Experience”
This resort exceeded our expectations. The design of the resort was pure opulence, Lanna Style. Everywhere you looked there were amazing pieces of artistry. We stayed in a Seaview Pool Villa. Everything about it was “Wow”; from the opening of the front door, to the luxurious accommodation, to our private pool area. We felt like royalty overlooking our kingdom from our sala. The management and staff were truly wonderful and we felt very welcome and at ease. We visit Thailand regularly and have stayed at many resorts. Ammatara Pura has definitely moved to the top of the list for us.
BLOWN AWAY by Ammatara”
The rooms here are absolutely stunning with every last detail expertly and beautifully designed. You'll feel like a king staying here with stunning views and an elegant feel. The breakfast was also amazing with dishes to order cooked fresh on the spot. And the staff was wonderful. Steve was particularly awesome, thank you!
Been in Thailand over a week now, this hotel had the most comfy bed yet...which I was delighted for since the other hotels beds were hard as boards with sheets on them. It was very quiet while we were there only one other room booked. Breakfast was included and delicious but I'd recommend eating dinner elsewhere unless money is no problem for you. A lobster dinner cost $90 american for one plate..yikes..
Fantastic rooms with great view”
Pool villa with sea view rooms are huge and have a great view along with a handy kitchen and other facilities. Food was of good quality and quickly served but a bit expensive. Hotel is small and hence can be quiet. Lamai beach in front of the hotel is fantastic and not crowded. Negatives are that it is located below a hill and hence to reach the market you need to climb up down the small hill if their buggy is not available or go via the beach. Also bathroom fittings need to be replaced.
Fantastic rooms & service”
Everything was wonderful. Beautiful room with incredible outdoor shower and incredible pool patio. All service and staff was top level. Food service very average. Even breakfast is just OK. For a property this nice the cooking should be on a higher level. Would go back and eat dinner out every night.
A little paradise in Koh Samui”
My wife and I celebrated our 36th anniversary and to reconnect. The architecture of the resort was absolutely breathtaking. The level of details created a unique Thai experience. We LOVED our spacious ad well appointed beach side villa with its own private pool. This boutique resort has everything one wants for a private couple’s retreat. The views of the Gulf of Thailand and tranquility were exactly what we were hoping for and we positively embarked on a journey of relaxation. The management team and staff very helpful and highly client service driven. Everyone of the team certainly honored their mission by exceeding our expectations. The thoughtful team members were instrumental in helping us celebrate our anniversary in Thai style and made available traditional Thai wedding clothing as well as decorated our bedroom, all to enhance our entire experience. The breakfasts were a great way to start the day! The service was amazing and the food was delicious and flavorful. We took advantage of the variety of Asian and Western cuisine. We enjoyed the Bar and lounge area for quiet drinks and watching the waves and moon light across the sea. We also took advantage of the spa facilities to pamper ourselves including a few soothing couple’s massage. Last but not least, a small group of cleaning staff promptly took care of all our daily needs. Everything was perfect! We would highly recommend this resort and will look forward to going back soon!!
Quiet and comfortable hotel”
the hotel does not have a private beach, but access to the beach also does not have a spa, but 2 massage rooms open when demand and there is no transportation form the airport to hotel as it is mentioned in Agoda I have to pay 1000 bat to hotel to provide a taxi for me and 700 bat to taxi driver to fake me back to airport.
The hotel was just amazing! Unlike any other 5* in the region, this one has a typical Thai feel to it. It is actually more like a museum! Definitely will recommend. As for transport and others, well Samui isn't really that big and you can rent a bike to get around.
We found this hotel through Agoda. We decided on this hotel as there was not a single bad review. When we reached the hotel,it exceeded our expectations. The staff was amazing esp the people at the concierge. We stepped into the room and just loved it.The interiors of the villa are so exquisite and beautifully done. The villa is right on the beach.Shops are nearby too.The hotel is so amazing that you would not want to step out of the villa.I would strongly recommend this villa to anyone.Hard to find any fault at all.
Lovely hotel and really and truly is 5 stars.”
Very good housekeeping, place is incredibly clean and tidy. The shower is fantastic. Free wifi. Lacking in tours, and bad at booking tours for customers so suggest to do so yourself out on the streets as it will also be cheaper.
great hotel with ancient feel”
the villa we got was fantastic with sea view! food and service is excellent, and good value for money. no need to go elsewhere for diner and lunch. Dipping pool is small but very beautiful the big pool is very good as well beach with sun beds and service
Exclusive Luxury on Lamai Beach”
My wife and I just returned from one of the best holidays we have ever had, and a major contributing factor was our stay at Ammatara Pura Pool Villa. The hotel is absolutely stunning. With only 18 pool villas on expansive and immaculate grounds, the feeling of exclusivity and peaceful luxury is pervasive. The units are beautifully and tastefully decorated, are very spacious and comfortable, and have all of the amenities you could possibly need. The private infinity splash pool with built in jacuzzi seats was the perfect size, and our unit provided a high level of privacy on our private deck and pool. The semi-outdoor rain shower in the private entry courtyard was unbelievable, with natural light and the sound of the waves in the background. Because the resort is large compared to the number of units, there was never a problem getting lounge chairs by the pool or on the beach, and it was always extremely quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and all spoke good English, so we had no communication problems at all. We had one small problem with the room, which is not even significant enough to mention in this review, and the Resident Manager, Mr. Arijit Ghosh, showed great concern and took great efforts to ensure that we were completely satisfied with our stay. The beach is absolutely stunning, and having walked up and down most of Lamai Beach, Ammatara Pura Pool Villa was clearly the most luxurious resort on the beach. Every passerby walking along the beach stopped to look at the hotel, and many came off the beach to walk the grounds and take photos, such is the beauty of the hotel. The hotel is only a fifteen minute walk (along the beach or roadway) from Lamai village, but the hotel has a Tuk Tuk that can run you into town for free in five minutes. My wife and I will definitely return to Ammatara Pura Pool Villas in the future, and cannot recommend the hotel highly enough for those looking for a luxurious and peaceful retrea
Lovely hotel, amazing out of this world rooms”
Lovely stay here on Koh Samui at Ammatara Pura. The service is friendly and lovely, staff are amazingly friendly. Put on a Christmas dinner and show as well for the guests with christmas presents as well which was a lovely personal touch. But it's all about the rooms here. I can't even call them rooms - more like villas / mansions!!! Biggest bed I've seen facing the ocean, private outdoor pool and balcony / sitting area. Outdoor shower, jacuzzi, personal kitchen, desk with desktop PC and internet, DVD player, ipod dock this place has thought of everything!!! Breakfast brought to your room!! Wonderful wonderful stay and amazing value for money. Would love to return one day!
Exclusive, well-equipped villas with great pool”
We stayed four nights between X-mas and New Years. It was fully booked most of the time but we still felt it was very private and exclusive. We stayed in a Garden Villa. Best parts: - Room is very large and well-equipped. You have a computer, kitchen, minibar, washing machine (but no drier), TV and DVD player, lots of couches and chairs. - The private pool is absolutely superb. Plus you have a jacuzzi and excellent outdoor shower. Just brilliant. - The breakfast is delivered to your room each morning (you order what you want) and really nice. The food options are extensive, although not everything may be available (eg, different juices). - The place looks absolutely amazing when it is lit up at night. You feel like you are in your own private temple! - The staff are very attentive and helpful. Really sweet. - We enjoyed a free yoga course, which was very nice. Improvement areas: - It is not cheap, though we were there during high season. - The gym area is not really developed. It's just a few cardio machines in a corner. My guess is, since the place is new, they will be investing in a bigger gym / spa area in the future. - It can be a bit difficult to find from the main (ring) road from the airport. It should be clearly signposted at the turnoff from the ring road - The cocktails could be improved. My wife had a bloody mary which she didn't really like. Other comments: - The restaurant was quiet, very romantic, and good value for tasty food. We ordered Thai food only, just one night. - It is very close to the main walking road. Just go down to the beach, take a left, and walk a little while until you come to a grassy area where you can meet the road (near Will Wait restaurant). Or you can trespass through the neighboring Aloha hotel! - At first, I found the decor a bit garish and overdone. However, after spending some time there, I came to like it. After seeing many other places in Lamai, this was definitely the classiest and most exclusive.
