This hotel is a cruise ship moored at the media wharf in the former NDSM shipyard, connected to the central railway station by ferry. The Amstel Botel in Amsterdam is docked at NDSM Pier 3, a lively area with artists’ studios, funky bars, and vibrant cafés and restaurants. A free shuttle bus operates during the night when the ferry is not running. The hotel offers very clean, airy cabins with satellite TV and free in-house movies, wireless Internet access, and canal or land views. The Pollux Café serves excellent Dutch and international food, and the bar stays open until 1am.

Best of its kind”
For hostel type accommodation this couldn’t be beaten. Spotlessly clean, friendly staff. Excellent breakfast, boiled eggs, sausages, bacon, beans, toast, croissants, rolls, salad, cheese, ham. Coffee, tea and orange juice and the usuals spreads for the toast
Am glad that I chose the Botel, it is a 12minute ferry ride (free) to Central Station but so quiet so sleep is not a problem. Breakfast was also good with cooked bacon, sausage and beans or cold continental. Yes full marks. Mick from England
reception was very unfriendly. wasnt able to get a second blanket. had to share with a friend. ”
her anser was maby tomorrow. i find this quite rude. service was horrible when we ask for direction we get the answer there is the map or google it... that is not acceptable. wold bever ever go there again. only on the first day the room was clean. every morning we had poop in the toilet from an other room. and i think they didnt changedthe towels bit only hung them back up because from the second day they doesnt smelled fresh anymore.
Wish Every city had a Botel Hotel Concept”
Great Idea really quirky. Very competitive very clean accommodation in the Centre of Amsterdam Great FREE ferry to and from Botel to Amsterdam Central Station ( Travel to anywhere in Netherlands/Europe) in addition ideally situated to catch a tram, bus or taxi to get anywhere in Amsterdam. All the staff are informative & friendly from my experience. I would recommend this to any/everyone Chris from Merthyr Tydfil
Overall good value. Had a pleasant stay”
Pros: Good location, Free breakfast, Comfy bed, Near ferry terminal, Hot water, Tv, Bar and slot machines near reception. You can go atop the ship on the deck and enjoy the views. Staff were helpful. Cons: Small shower but it was adequate for me, No gym, No room service but can order for food delivery, Door keycard had to be reprogrammed twice coz it clashed with my mobile phone.
Clean and friendly, bar drinks reasonably priced, quite location but you can hear the hustle bustle in the morning, breakfast get there early as they appear to find it difficult to keep up with topping the food up, easy transfer from main train station just make your way to the ferry terminal outside and take the ferry on the far left, they run about every 15 minutes and it’s free, if you are not bothered about all the luxuries of a big hotel and fancy something different then this is a place to stay, take a travel kettle also.
After reading some comments, I was ready for the worst stay, but Amstel Botel surprised me. The room was clean, the food was fresh and the personnel was helpful, I got everything I needed and it didn't take a lot of time. The free of charge ferry has a convenient schedule. If you go to Amsterdam not for staying in the hotel during the whole day, I would recommend it.
Not the Botel I thought.”
I use to stay in the Botel close to the station. When I booked this Botel I thought it was the same place. It was a pleasant boat ride to the area of this Botel and the service and facilities were the same as the older Botel I use to stay in. Just a little bit out the way for my trip, but easily managed to get there and into the city with a little boat ride and a walk.
Brilliant budget accommodation ”
The Botel exceeded our expectations, as we were very realistic when booking budget accommodation on a disused ferry! It was clean, comfortable and everything you need to sleep and have a bit of breakfast. That’s just it in a nutshell. You can eat dinner at the Pollux which right opposite, over the walkway and is fab. You need to get the free ferry to the heart of Amsterdam which runs every half hour and takes 10-15 minutes, we found this no bother, it literally takes you from the back of the Botel and drops you at central station, from there you can walk it, train it, tram it, whatever. We managed to see everywhere on foot and enjoyed every moment. I would stay at the Botel again.
Key card error and no staff at night ”
I like the room but have too much problem with key card when ever i want to come back to my room key card always take me to the reception like 3 to 4 times same happens at night time and there is no staff
Good location, short free ferry ride from rear of Central station. Basic hotel but good price and very clean and friendly. Good shower and beds. All you need for a few days in Amsterdam. Excellent public transport and bike services. No need to drive anywhere in Dam. Good continental breakfast and nice bar that serves lovely pizza’s. Nice to watch the different boats going up and down the canal. Would definatley go back to the Botel.
Staff lovely, and all areas on boat nice. However, walkway to boat (pier) has metal bolts sticking out of concrete, so safer to walk on road area as no cars use it much, also if going when dark a torch is handy as it is quite dark
First time to stay in a boat-hotel! Location was very convenient. So easy to get to the main station via a 10-min ferry ride. Our room was comfortable and clean. Bathroom was small, needs some upgrading and repairs, but was fine for us.
Value fir money”
Beds so comfortable, staff really nice, we got a deal on this, although, I saw on side of boat cost from £89ppn don't think I would have paid that though. Walk way to botel very slippy with trip hazards but safe to walk on road. Also lighting quite poor and area is dark
As expected. ”
Nice views over the harbour. Smallish room as expected of a cabin with very small shower room. Comfortable bed. No kettle but that wasn't a problem for me. Friendly staff. Nice to have fresh crisp apples on offer at reception for free. Free ferry over from the central train station to the Botel.
We had an awesome time on the boat”
Positive: -free ride with the ferry even during the night - card access to the room -room has its own bathroom with showergel and towels included -spare blankets, a safe and tv in the room Negative - on our last day we had no warm water - if they worked on the roof and overdid the interior a little it would be so much more cozy
Quite a strange place..”
My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights and will never return back here again. The staff are incredibly rude and put in zero effort to say hello or to even welcome us and every time we ask a question we receive a big *sigh*. There was also no bottled water in the room which is pretty stingy. My suggestion - book elsewhere.
Quiet and comfortable”
The Botel offers a slightly different 'hotel' experience. If coming from Central Station it is a short free ferry ride from the centre, takes about 10 minutes to get from central dock to the north dock, where the Hotel is a 5 minute walk from. The room is clean, and comfortable. It is quiet, being located outside the city. Regular check in is 3 pm, but I was able to check in earlier as a room was ready and available. Check out is 11 am. Bathroom is a little tight for space, but then again this is a cabin in a boat. It is functional and clean. I had a great 'catch up' sleep here which I really needed to re-charge the batteries. I think the Botel offers good value for money, when compared to staying in Amsterdam Central.
Very nice accomodation, rooms are clean, perfect locality, 50 m from pier that take you to the centraal station which is in the centre od the city. Breakfast is included, should be more diverse, but it’s ok.
Very old ”
Very old boat in a great location. Rooms & showers were small & breakfast as not much choice.
