Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort is ideally located a few minutes from the airport and is walking distance from Chaweng’s city center. Its location, while convenient, is still secluded enough to allow guests a chance to indulge in peace and tranquility. All 122 villas have a distinct character, and although you get the impression of staying in a private Thai home, they are enhanced with all the amenities you would expect from a resort in its class. All of the villas come with air conditioning, an in-room safe, a mini bar, tea and coffee, flat screen plasma TV, DVD, internet access, and an extra-large bathroom with full amenities. Guests also enjoy their private plunge pool at the villa and a shaded terrace.

Lovely beachfront hotel & amazing service”
We had a wonderful 10 days stay at one of the deluxe room then the pool villa, which was fabulous. The service was the best, very attentive staff always helpful, the resort is beautiful surrounded by a tropical garden, stunning rooms, the hotel has a small private private beach, quite a few steps in the resort but a buggi is available. Only minus: no free airport pick-up/drop-off (8mn drive only), jellyfishs/sea urchins in the sea at that time, food and restaurants were not up to level compared to other Anantaras. But overall a peaceful and relaxing stay with an amazing service.
Private pool - ideal for the kids ”
Booked a room with a plunge pool, however, the pool was so big and was enjoyed by all of us instead of going to the larger resort pool. Lots of shade for our 2 year old. Staff are amazing - so accommodating, nothing is too much trouble and they are always smiling! Breakfast is incredible and will fill you up until dinner time.
This resort is just far enough out of Chewang to be quiet but close enough to be able to walk. The private beach is a highlight with friendly staff with the pool just behind. The Tree Tops Restaurant is on the premises and is truly a wonderful experience. Lawana is an oasis of green gardens and pools that makes the days go way to fast
Dated but Well Maintained ”
This is a peasant resort but a little dated. We stayed in sea view pool villa which was well maintained but dated in design, using dark materials. Only one wash hand basin but 2 showers! There could be more attention to detail for example no beach bag in the room but overall very good. The staff were well trained, friendly and helpful (unusual in Thailand where most hotel staff prefer to pick a fight than address a complaint)
Paradise in Chaweng”
Pros: * Beautiful surroundings * Spacious rooms, beautifully decorated with nice touches * Great breakfast selection * Good facilities * Welcoming staff and readily available to assist * Ideally located Cons: * Price point * Mosquitoes but I guess that's just a Samui thing
A little out of the way ”
I stayed here for one night before leaving Samui based on the fact that it's only 10mins from the airport. I stayed in one of the private pool villas. Pros:- nice room, nice little pool, nice staff, great food! Cons:- my room was at the front of the resort which is more like a small housing unit with heaps of self contained villas, so a bit of a walk down to the waterfront and pool/restaurant, a bit far away from the main action of Chaweng.
The 'Good as Usual' From Anantara”
There is a standard one comes to expect from Anantara Hotels, that is cleanliness, friendly and smiling staffs who 'sawasdee' you every time you walk pass plus all you can drink bottled water for everyday of your stay makes this very much a perfect Hotel to stay during the height of the Thai summer season.
I spent 3d2n there myself and it was such a wonderful experience.Room was pretty with stable wifi.Hotel is only 5mins away from airport.Nearly all staff greet my name personally everyday.I felt like I was at home. Dining was good. One problem-lots of mosquitos but hotel provides free insect repellant.
world class. like something from a movie...”
this place is a total high-roller mecca. we've stayed at a few other places for a similar price in koh samui, and this place takes them all down. no competition. we stayed at the slightly more expensive pool-access villas, and man... waking up... opening the big sliding doors- seeing a massive private pool (shared only by 5 other villas around it)... taking the steps into the massive pool... or lounging on the luxurious private deck connecting your villa to the pool... seriously, this place is like something from a movie. i've stayed at many world-class hotels all over the world, and this was by far one of the finest. if you can afford this place, you won't walk away sore. sometimes... some things are truly worth the premium price. and this place qualifies. the rest of the hotel (pools, beach, etc)... all top tier. as good as it gets. but back to your own room... seriously, it's so serene, elegant, and classy... you won't want to spend a minute away from it. by far the best place i've stayed at in koh samui, and i've spent many months here now, trying one resort/hotel after another.
Tranquil, peace and heaven”
This place really was a piece of heaven It is huge and no one is near you. It is always quiet and peaceful The location is perfect. Nice and hidden away from some of the dirty parts of Koh Samui but if u want to go to chewing beach. Only 5 mins in a taxi Also breakfast on the beach is cool
Great stay at Villa Lawana”
We had a great 5 day holiday at Villa Lawana. The private pool rooms are thoughtfully decorated and well maintained. We found the staff to be very welcoming and helpful. We had a few initial problems with the phone and shower in the room and these were immediately repaired. The pool over-looking the beach is fabulous. We will definitely choose to stay here again.
Totally a Siam dream. It was total bliss and the villa with private plunge pool was a winner. ”
Amazing hospitality, lovely staff and overall a beautiful property which we would love to come back to. The food was exceptional and the tree top dining experience is one not to be missed.
We both loved our stay here, the room was perfect and the plunge pool was an added bonus. The entire staff was attentive, friendly, and outgoing. This is the place for couples looking to relax, and to enjoy the beauty of Koh Samui. We will be back.
Dear David, Greetings from a sunny Samui! Thank you for taking the time to leave us your generous review of your recent stay, truly appreciated by the whole team. Your compliments on our staff, plunge pool and room are well received. We look forward to welcome you back to our little paradise. With kind regards, Joao-Corte Real
I stayed at Anantara with my 2 kids, 6 and 8 years old for five nights. It's a beautiful property. Staff: Staff at front desk (most of them, not all) looked tired and cranky. Well, we checked in at 10:30pm, but still. At the checkin, one expects a bit more smiling faces. At the beachside restaurant Ocean Kiss, staff is amazing. Super friendly, always welcoming with a huge smile. Staff at Tree top sky dining - very professional, friendly and Knowledgeable. Liked almost everything we ordered at the restaurants. Beach is very clean and nice, with plenty activities. Perfect for kayaking. We stayed at plunge pool villa, which was nice. Room was dark. TV is set too high - not that we had time to watch it :-) Amazing Spa with special kids' Spa menu. Central Festival is 7 min drive that makes it super convenient to have quick change for kids. Mosquitoes - everywhere - all the time. In my 10 years SEAsia traveling, I haven't had so many mosquito bites at any resort anywhere.
Dear Saba, Thank you for sharing your opinion after your visit to Samui. We are glad to read that overall you had a pleasant stay at Anantara Lawana and enjoyed the hotel facilities. During your stay all departments did their best to provide good service and the staff was happy to read your comments. Please let me apologize if you got the impression that our front office staff was not so efficient or enthusiastic. It is nice to know that you enjoyed the beach area and the activities available to our guests. Thank you for your notes on our gastronomic offer at Ocean Kiss and at Tree Tops Restaurant in particular. I would like to inform you that although we regularly do treatments to prevent our customers to suffer from the mosquitoes bites, in this specific time the year, this is something more difficult to control. We have already reinforced the treatments and for sure this problem will be minimized in the near future. With Kind Regards, Joao-Corte Real
Great resort, the access pool villa was already nice but the villa with pool was just amazing. Staff are very helpful and nice with kids. Mr Sunny at the reception was always there to ensure all our needs are meet. One of the best resort i've stayed in my life. Perfect for couple or family.

With our kind regards, Joao Corte Real General Manager
Serendipitous! The hotel is nicely laid out although the undulating surrounding can be a bit challenging for older guests. The rooms especially bathroom could do with an update and the beach front better maintained and landscaped. However, the external factors are more than well compensated by the genuine warmth and attentiveness of the hotel staff with whom we had the pleasure to interact with. Makes our stay definitely memorable!
This place is very beautiful , be prepared to walk so bring comfortable shoes. The staff was more than accomodating and we received the same level of service anywhere we were on the resort. We enjoyed a beautiful view of the ocean while we ate their delicious breakfast. It was buffet style but very upscale. We could not have spent our honey moon at a better spray.
A wonderful stay at Anantara Lawana”
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Anantara Lawana. We got a free upgrade to a pool suite room, which was just perfect! The service was great... And the staff were always friendly. It's conveniently located a short walk / drive away from the centre of Chaweng beach, so you still feel isolated without being too far away. We would definitely go back :)
A nice quiet place”
The check-in process took longer than expected. It took us more than 30 minutes to check-in to our rooms. However, the staff provided us with some welcome drinks and cool towels to accommodate us. The check-in process somehow seems inefficient. They have 2 different people working on the check-in process. First to receive your information/passports, and then another person to talk to you and fill up information forms. The rooms we reserved were the Deluxe Private Plunge Pool. It is basically a small pool in front of your room, nothing to special about this. There was also a sitting area between the front entrance and your room door. The room had an outdoor bathroom. We found the doors of the rooms not user-friendly, with the sliding wooden panels. It was quite a hassle to use. The breakfast spread was good. The place had a good view and very relaxing. The only thing was I wished they had more fans to keep us cool. I find it too hot. Overall, it is a nice and quiet place to relax. But if you want a more "happening" place, this is not the place to be. It was quiet a distance away from restaurants and shops.
Enjoyed our stay very much. Our original room was very close to a noisy construction site; we upgrade to a beautiful ocean front villa. The villa was perfect and had a great view. My only complaint would be that The staff was a bit snotty and acted rather entitled ... Would have preferred a staff that was a bit more relax and not so focused on dollar signs.
