Welcoming and friendly owners but basic. ”
i travelled to brisbane from cairns to attend a meeting. annies shandon inn provided me with a clean but basic air- conditioned room with minimal facilities. however i only wanted somewhere to sleep after my evening meeting so it suited me perfectly. i could make tea or coffee (supplied) in the guest dining room at any time and was served toast and jam or marmalade and had a choice of cereals plus fresh orange juice for breakfast in the same dining room next morning. as my meeting finished quite late i was able to use my key to get in the front door without disturbing anyone. it was nice that the owner remembered my name at breakfast time especially as the hotel was quite full.(unfortunately i couldn't remember his!!). i travel to brisbane a couple of times a year and will use annies shandon inn from now on. hopefully i will remember the owners name next time!
A cozy budget accommodation in central Brisbane”
We only stay at Annies Shandon Inn for one night when we transit at Brisbane, but the hospitality of the staff and the cozy environment of the inn left us a deep impression and good memory. The inn is within walking distance to the Central Station, which is just 20 min away from the airport by AirTrain. The decoration in the inn gives a feeling of "returning home". Breakfast was provided too:) All in all, Annies Shandon Inn is a cozy budget accommodation in the downtown of Brisbane.
although i lived in brisbane in the late 1970's early 80's and knew my way around more than the average resident i found that the city and the transport systems had changed significantly since then and i was completely "befuddled". it was so easy to re-orientate myself from annies shandon inn. plenty of information available from the reception and it soon all came back to me. i am so grateful to have found a real haven amonst the "big smoke", making my visit to brisbane so much more "doable" for a senior with severe arthritis in both knees.
Charming B & B located close to everything.”
Annies Shandon Inn was a delightful change after so many characterless rooms on our holiday across Oz. The location is excellent with the CBD just a street away and the Central Station around the corner. The place is a heritage building done up in atmospheric decor that harks back to its history. The hosts are a delightful couple who go out of their way to make you welcome and comfortable. The included continental breakfast of juice, toast and cereal as well as the unlimited day-long tea or coffee are added value. There is an ATM/bank just outside the door and the free bus stops in front. It is easy to get there on the airport shuttle (right to the door step) or even on the Airtrain. The breakfast tables have hundreds of letters of appreciation under glass which make for empathic reading and you will be wanting to add your own too.
Very very warmly & lovely for everything”
The couple of hotel's hosts are very very warmly & lovely. They told me how to catch a bus and which famouse places i should go in Brisben. They are very patience to explain for everyone. The man get up early to cook free breakfast for each guests from 6:30 am to 8:30am every morning. Good milk, orange juice and toast. The man chat with you very interesting things. I reallly recommend you to book Annies Shandon Inn, it is your best choice. This hotel will give you a feeling as familly, everyone is your familly person. At last, i give a suggestion that WIFI is free but it's not good in the room, maybe it can improve, then here is perfect house.
Friendly, Lovely & Best Hotel with a Smile”
The stay for me & my girl friend at Annies Shandon Inn was fabulous. We had a great time at Annies and especially when we met Tony & Wendy. Both of them are very friendly. Thanks Tony & Wendy for making our trip & stay at Brisbane an unforgettable one. The room that we stayed was Room No.7. Not too small, is very clean & comfortable.
Lovely B&B with very kind staff”
Annies Shandon Inn, located in a vintage house at the fringe of Brisbane's central business district, is a great opportunity to explore the city on foot. It's a less than 10 minute walk to the pedestrian area of Queen St. and merely 5 to central station. The three elderly couples that take turns at running the place are all doing a great job, they manage to literally make you feel at home. Although a bit above backpacker standard in terms of price, it is a reasonable alternative if you want to treat yourself to some privacy and moderate luxury.
old world charm in modern city”
I chose Annie's Shandon Inn because of its location. It is just a 5-min walk to the city and Spring Hill Loop free shuttle bus stop is directly opposite Annie's which comes at about 10 min interval. The hotel is clean. Though at first I was reluctant to book Annie's because of shared bath for some units, I was pleasantly surprised that this is no issue. Breakfast is served at the dining hall and terrace. The owner is very warm and friendly. As my daughter stays at her hostel and would like to join me for breakfast, I asked Tony about the rate and his immediate response was, "We'll take care of that."
Great location, friendly proprietors”
This was the perfect place for my stay in Brisbane. It was a quick 5-minute walk to downtown, and the people who run the b & b couldn't have been more accommodating. I arrived on an early morning flight, and while my room wasn't yet ready, they gave me a lovely little breakfast, held my luggage, and made me feel totally at home. The teapot was on every night when I returned, and there was always milk in the little fridge. They lent me an umbrella and an adaptor for my electronics, and the other people staying there were very pleasant, too. Downside if you care about this: the bathrooms are in the hallway, not ensuite. However, the women's bathroom is divided into three parts so it's easy to share, and they don't run out of hot water. (Men's bathroom is probably the same, just didn't see it.) This was a really nice place for a single person as there was a small amount of friendly interaction, but couples seemed to love the place, too. It sells out quickly, which is understandable given the amazing rates, great location, and friendly service. Book at Annie's Shandon Inn without hesitation, if you have a chance to!
Very nice service”
i never try so nice hotel like annies shandon inn, so nice man, thank you. their hotel is very close to town center, i can walk to central station within 3 min. if i go to brisbane again, i must live in this hotel again~ very good
small b&b with a huge homey comfort”
annies is the most comfy b&b i ever stay. it is small an quiet, very convenient if you're looking for a quiet sanctuary amid brisbane's hussle and bussle. it's also very near to the central station, so again, it is convenient. all you need is an extra willingness to climb up back to the spring hill if you do somethhing in the town centre which is way down the road (literally).bus right in front of the premise only operates on weekdays, so do prepare to walk and climb a lot if you don't have any car. breakfast is quite filling with cereal, toast and juice as well as the all day coffee and tea. the couple who run this (there are 2 or 3 couples taking turns) are very friendly and helpful. i lke all of them, a lot. be sure to pocket your key before closing your room door, you don't want to wake them up just to open your room. eventhough they would do that willingly there. apart from the climbing walk from the convenience store or almost anywhere else, i really have nothing to complain about this modest yet homey b&b. excellent
Wonderful place to stay”
I loved staying at Annie's Shandon Inn. When I come back to Brisbane I will definitely stay with them again. The staff were so friendly.
Central Brisbane, ideal location, friendly hosts.”
Back to Annies Shandon Inn for a quick overnight stay before returning home, I felt immediately welcome. Great location and an easy walk to Central Station to get the AirTrain. Nice breakfast and coffee to start the day and wrap up the holiday.
Lovely unique 70`s style hotel”
The only hotel of its kind remains in Brisbane, its a unique in style of the 70`s and whilst the rooms are small and a shared bathroom, it is very clean and the couple that manage the place are extremely nice and helpful. Very quirky place we loved it, as it has character and an interesting history about Annie and her family to date.
Great Inn with an atmosphere of a home”
it was a lovely inn which was managed by the owner directly and it has the feeling of a home even when we are away from home. the guests were all friendly as well as the owner, it is b&b unlike most hotel and motel, which do not provide breakfast. unfortunately we had to leave before morning, thus didn't enjoy the morning breakfast atmosphere with other guests. certainly will be back to annie's inn if we're visiting brisbane.
Great value, handy, clean and welcoming”
Have not been in Annie's Shandon Inn in well over twenty years but it was the same. Different staff, an added deck, but the same past era decor, photos, and welcome. Annie's is so handy to public transport and for walking into town or even further.
pleasant overnight stay”
My Daughter and I loved Annies we have booked again next week to see a show we loved the cute rooms and the old fashioned style and service it is our new home away from home. The bathroom was large and the shower was hot and breakfast was included in the affordable price we loved it all and the beds were comfortable we had a great night sleep after a big day at the ekka.we recommend it Thanks Wendy Australia
Ideal for the solo traveller”
A return trip to Annies for me. Why would you not return to this comfortable little welcoming inn. Outstanding hosts who really care about their guests. A little piece of history in a safe location.
Quaint and friendly”
Annies is a peice of quaintness and old worl charm in the heart of Brisbane. I was searching for cheap and clean accommodation in Brisbane whilst I attended a workshop at QUT, and Annies fitted the bill. I think it would have helped if more choices were available for the continental breakfast or if a hot breakfast was offered?
Cute Cosy and Clean - Perfect Place to Stay”
This place is neat, clean, cosy and great for those who are on a budget. Even though the place is small, we love it very much. The rooms are pretty with attractive country-style decor and the whole place feels like a home. The owners are friendly and helpful. The place is conveniently located near the main shopping malls. The price for our double was less than a backpackers! How wonderfully cheap and good. Comparing to other hostels in town this place is very quiet (especially at night) so it is great place to stay. We will certainly use this place again when we are in Brisbane.
