We weren't disappointed!”
My partner and I stayed at the Ansara Hotel 3 times during our travels around Laos. After reading the reviews online, we had to try it! We have travelled around the world a fair bit and found the Ansara Hotel to be one of our very favourite places. Hotel - it has a lovely relaxing charm to it. The rooms were beautifully decorated and were always spotless and smelled clean and nice. Staff - really helpful and professional, especially the hotel manager - our luggage got left behind in Bangkok when we first arrived in Vientiane & wasn't going to arrive in Vientiane until later that day and the manager of the hotel personally came back to the airport with us that afternoon to ensure we had no issues with the language barrier or anything like that, which as far as I am concerned is above and beyond the call of duty and was appreciated by myself and my partner greatly. Restaurant - the prices are like any place that serve gourmet international food, but I am happy to pay this when the meals are of such high quality and they have a nice drinks menu. The breakfast is nice also. Location - great spot, really close to the night markets, shops and restaurants, You can walk to some sights, but it's easy getting a tuk tuk to any that are further. Transfer - the hotel were reliable in arranging for us to be collected and dropped off each time we checked in and out. All in all, I can not think of one bad thing to report during our 3 stays at the Ansara Hotel and will definitely return when we go back to Vientiane.

Excellent Hotel”
I fell in love with this hotel immediately after arriving at the hotel. There are so many good things about it. Firstly, the reception building is so classy and resembles an old colonial building. Reception area is also beautifully decorated and gives guests a very good first impression. The room is also very beautiful and nicely decorated with a nice balcony overlooking the pool and the nice colonial reception building. Room size is also spacious and bathroom is very stylishly designed. What's more, they provide a laptop with free internet access for every room and also complementary mini bar. Cleanliness of the room is spotless. Everything looks new even though this hotel has been build since 2009. The hotel also has a nice pool and a very beautiful garden around the pool area. Restaurant for breakfast is also very nicely decorated and is located in the colonial reception building on the second floor. I greatly appreciate the hotel putting a sign along Quai Fa Ngum road that indicates the street to turn to that leads to the hotel. This really makes finding the hotel much easier for me as i am driving a rented car to the hotel. This sign boarding really helps people as there are many street cutting across Quai Fa Ngum Road and Setthathirath road. So, in order to find the hotel, the easiest way is to walk/drive down Quai Fa Ngum (the road next to the mekong river) and look out for a sign with the word " Ansara hotel" and follow it and turn into the street. Next, you will see another "Ansara Hotel" sign. Follow this sign and you will be at the hotel. I have really no bad things to say about this hotel but i hope that they can provide free airport shuttle as it currently cost USD 15 for (airport - hotel) and USD10 for (hotel-airport) service. Overall, i am very satisfied with what i paid for. Ansara Hotel will definitely be my first choice if i return to Vientiane again.

The best boutique hotel in Vientiane”
This is our second stay at the Ansara. For the cost of the room, you really do get the best "high end" boutique hotel value in Vientiane. The basic double rooms are not big but entirely adequate for a short stay, with a balcony out front for early morning or late evening relaxation. All the rooms overlook a charming garden, although there is no pool. Breakfast is terrific, and the service is attentive if at times a bit erratic due to lack of high capacity in English. But otherwise, this really is the best place to stay in town if you want some relaxation and can splurge a bit. There is not that much to do in Vientiane, so it is nice to have a nice room to retreat to, and the hotel is very near to all the shops and waterfront walk.

Fabulous hotel in great location ”
We spent 3 nights at the Ansara Hotel and absolutely loved it. The staff were very accommodating and flexible and allowed us a super early check-in. The location was perfect and the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the upstairs dining room was relaxing and a delight. The chef would freshly prepare your eggs - spot on! Coffee came made to order and the buffet had something for everyone. The swimming pool was awesome., especially for the kids. A great way for us all to cool down after a day exploring. My only suggestion would be to keep it open a little longer (closes at 6pm). My whole family loved staying at this hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it. We would definitely stay there again if we return to Vientiane.

Nice, peaceful stay”
We had a very nice stay at the Ansara. The main building is a beautiful colonial style structure, whereas the hotel rooms are situated in very quiet surroundings amidst nice gardens. The rooms are nice and the staff were friendly and attentive. They were very helpful with pointing out destinations on a map. The buffet breakfast was fine with good European-style bread. We did not try to French restaurant at the hotel, so it certainly looked stylish and rather unique for Vientiane. The hotel's location is excellent as it is just a few minutes' walk from the Mekong River with easy access to all major tourist attractions and hotels. And walking around Vientiane is extremely easy. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. The only thing preventing it from being perfect is that we were charged for two (very fragile) wine glasses that we broke while trying to move the kettle in our room. While I have no problem paying for something that was obviously our fault, I do feel it would have been a nice gesture if the hotel had considered it something that "comes with the territory" and not charged us. Especially since we spent $100+ on a bottle of champagne in the room. I don't believe I have been charged for accidentally breaking a glass in a hotel room before.

Great hotel in downtown Vientiane”
We stayed here our last night in Laos on our way back home. Everything about the Ansara is flawless. We would like to mention the friendliness of the staff who were very welcoming on our arrival. We felt immediately at home. We could go on complimenting the Ansara and their staff, but we would run out of space for this review. The Ansara will be our choice of hotel for any next trip to Vientiane without any doubt,

a piece of heaven”
i stayed at the ansara hotel for two nights and then re-booked for a further night on my return to vientiane. it is a slice of heaven in a very laid back city. the rooms are extremely clean and comfortable with small extras like your own laptop, free mini bar. the breakfast is the best and although i didnt try the french restaurant which is part of the hotel, i think the standard could be quite good. excellent location for riverside, market and the town centre and yet peacefully tucked down a little lane. top marks for the check in staff who were helpful and polite.

Elegant, yet laid back hotel”
This hotel was recommended to us by my friend who lives in Vientiane, Laos. Upon our arrival at the airport, the staff from the hotel greeted us and drove us to the hotel (by the way, the airport transfer service was not free.). The hotel boosts elegant architecture, interior decor, and landscaping. Yet, the general feel of the hotel is very laid back, comfortable, and friendly. Our 2nd floor room (1 king bed plus an extra bed from our 11-year-old) had a small balcony overlooking the beautiful courtyard. The bathroom was nicely laid out with a plenty of vanity top to place our personal items. The room, bathroom, and common areas were very clean and nicely maintained. The breakfast was equally enjoyable, including the made-to-order latte's and cappuccino's. This hotel is located within a short block from the Mekong River and night markets. There are also many shops and restaurants around the hotel. We truly enjoyed staying at Ansara and would definitely recommend it to others. The only thing we wished we had was a more reliable and faster internet connection. It was extremely sporadic and slow that we could only get online from time to time and visit only a handful of sites.

Great choice for first-timers to Vientiane”
First visit to Laos, so choice of hotel was important. Ansara did not disappoint, although I thought the price just a bit high for the low/hot season (be sure and note the hotel tax rate for Laos!). Hotel is located near the river and night market. Large selection of restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity (in all price ranges). Hotel room was reasonably up-to-date, had a pleasant garden view, and included free reliable wifi and even a laptop PC. Hotel has a small bar & restaurant. Had a small issue with front desk and their ability with some basic math, but 'amicably resolved. Strongly recommend this hotel for first-timers who might not know their way around Vientiane (unless on a backpacker budget). Airport transfers cost $15; recommend taxis.

Nice Suite”
Staying at the Ansara Hotel in a Escape Suite was nice after travelling for 6 weeks. Large suite, with all trimmigs. Complimentary bottle of wine, fruit plate and silk scarf. Staff very friendly and helpful. Located in quiet lane surrounded by restaurants and shopping. Also close to night market. Hotel is upgrading in lot next door so offered and reduction in price which was a treat. Construction did not effect our stay. So thank you Ansara you are a great team.

Perfect location - an oasis in the city”
We stayed at The Ansara for one night and had booked the suite, which gave us plenty of room with 2 smaller children. The room was large, had a nice sitting area, comfortable beds with real down comforters and pillows. Bathroom was well-equipped and all was super clean. The minibar in the room is complimentary. The staff was really friendly and helpful with our requests. The location is perfect near everything of interest in town and close to the waterfront and the night market. There is a peaceful garden at the hotel, where the balconies of the rooms faced for a green view. The food was good and well-prepared. Breakfast was included. It was fairly basic, but good quality. Our whole family enjoyed our stay there and we would stay there again anytime!

Pleasant, comfortable stay with considerate staff”
The Ansara Hotel was beautifully set out, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The room was clean, with a large, well maintained bathroom. The room had a bowl of fresh fruit, and even cookies in the evening! Wifi in the room was great, and there was a computer for guest use in the room also. Beds were comfortable, and the black out curtains meant we could sleep in late. The location was good, right near the night markets and good restaurants. We stayed at the Ansara on our first and last nights in Laos, and were able to leave luggage with the hotel for the week. On the day we checked out, we had an early flight, and the hotel packed us a take-away breakfast box of pastries, fruit and yoghurt without us even asking. The breakfast at the hotel was nice - pastries and hot food.

Great Location”
The location is prime, because it's near the river and its attractions, but it's quiet. That's a key factor in Vientiane, because many of the hotels near the riverfront are really loud. The restaurant is nice, although the staff sometimes is a little less than attentive to detail. For example, they forgot parts of my set menu. The room is standard, comfortable, although internet is spotty (to be fair, this is common in the hotels in Laos). The staff tried to once get me to check out of my room early (10:30, although check out time is noon). I suspect that they needed to give my room to someone else!

Very lovely heaven in downtown”
We were very happy with this hotel in general, first and for most because of its lovely white and black European apprarance, good location, lovely garden, pool, breakfirst of a quite variety, and the sense of peacefulness and safety from the busy and dizzy outside streets. The staff were more attentive and smiled more comapred with those of Landmark Mekong River Hotel, which I stayed the previous two nights before Ansara Hotel. One thing is the A/C had a bit of problem. It made loud noises from time to time, and dropped like 500ml of water into the floor, just next to my notebook PC lying just nearby. But in general, the hotel feels safe, pleasant, and convenient.

Had a wonderful stay”
We were very happy with our stay at the Ansara Hotel. a few minute walk to the Mekong and the boulevard along the Mekong, which is where the Night Market is set up. Very close to other restaurants, didn't eat at the hotel (other than breakfast) so can't comment on the restaurant on the main floor but it looked very nice. The staff were very helpful, room was large and comfortable bed, what more could you ask for?

We had a wonderful stay at the Ansara hotel. It was a beautiful santuary. The rooms were generous and comfortable, and the styling and decor were perfect. We were thrilled to have a laptop in our room and free wifi. The pool was heavenly and the garden was a delight. The staff and level of service were outstanding. I highly recommend this boutique hotel. We did not want to leave!

Subtle Elegance”
The Ansara is a pleasant place to stay. The rooms are comfortable and updated- equipped with all the modern conveniences. Soft drinks in the minibar are complimentary. The location is great; near to the river front and main shopping street. The staff are friendly and speak English. They are in the middle of adding on to the hotel now (a pool perhaps). My only complaint is regarding the tea and coffee service for breakfast. The breakfast room is upstairs. Although there is a kitchen upstairs, the staff bring coffee and tea from the ground floor. It arrives cold and in a very small cup and saucer. It takes staff a while to bring coffee or tea or to refill, and I noticed other guests also asking about the tea and coffee. I would think bringing a small pot of tea and coffee to the table would solve this problem.
