Good location but average property...
The staff was not at all enthusiastic, friendly. Breakfast was horrible as only 4 main dishes out of which pan cakes and sausages were permanent.. same fruits were served everyday. Last day we had oily bhajiya for breakfast, something which was not expected at all from a place which has Australian master chef. Even the food ordered for dinner was very average. Fish fingers were like Pakodas.. we could taste the Chana dal batter. Rooms are too small. The only plus point is the location.. it's awesome with less crowded beach. Suggestion - do not book party huts as no privacy at all. You might find rooms overpriced but it's worth for the location.. again it's not feasible to take elderly people as need to climb stairs every time.

Place was filthy. Smelt constantly of sewage. Mound in hut bathroom. Rude staff.
It seems a lot more effort is put into the restaurant as the rooms aren't cleaned properly and smell of mould. Mould all over tiny bathroom. Sewage system directly outside hut so room constantly smells. Restaurant plays very loud music til late so don't go there for a peaceful stay Staff generally are rude and appear only to approve of Indian guests

Stay at your own risk
One of our worst nightmares. Boom boom earthquakes in rooms all night on weekends till 7am and on weekdays till 1.15 am! You feel like you are losing your mental balance.Music begins at 5.30 pm so no chance to catch up on any sleep! Beach is a long tedious walk up and down 200 long broken steps. Room so small that you keep misplacing things. Sewage stench in the open areas, rooms and toilets which keep getting clogged. All in all the worst stay in my life. The food is good though and different from the normal cuisine available elsewhere.

Disappointed by hygiene
The septic tank flowing to not paying attention to it. Plus, the bathrooms not having good water flow. Those are basics.

Pick This Hotel For The View And Location
Imagine watching the sun set while you relax in the pool, overlooking the beach. The hotel is located on a sloping cliff right next to Thalassa overlooking the Indian Ocean and picturesque small Vagator beach. You can walk straight on to the clean, rather untouched beach from the stairs of the hotel. The rooms are extremely small, with sliding glass doors. No other facilities are offered. There is a lively restaurant with some great music that boasts of Master Chef finalist Sara Todd specials, that at best are, above average. Avoid getting a room near the speakers/ restaurant. And be prepared to climb up & down the cliff on a few stairs. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience.

Superb view but average rooms!!
View is superb however rooms are very small. Bathrooms are also very tiny. The pot was shaky. 3rd occupancy is taken by the hotel but the room cannot accommodate the 3rd person!!
Average however we enjoyed the view & the beach which is attached to the hotel.

Awesome stay
The location, view and food
Very enjoyable, amazing location and fabulous food. The only hitch is the long trek down to the beach and the ocean view rooms for the elderly or the not so fit. Perfect for the young !

Overrated & Bakwaas.. Staff though is Pleasant
Well, let me be honest. I booked it not because of its MasterChef Legacy but its proximity to the Beach. And no-one told me that I have a uphill CLIMB of over 50-75 stairs (vertical vertigo) from my Ocean Classic Room -before I hit the beach. Also the access to the beach via stairs - has no supporting rails and is open - something which is terribly dangerous for kids. Second, the Breakfast Menu is a JOKE. They expect guests to have 2 pieces of bread along with 1 drink (tea/coffee/juice) alone as complimentary Bfast -be full. Pathetic options and absolutely pathetic service - as Restaurant and Hotel Mgmt are different. Finally - the Ocean Classic room has a INBUILT BOOM BOX - reason - it is right in front of the restaurant which plays techno (aka sophisticated music) till 1am. So be merry if you have kids. You know what I mean The Good is only the POOL - which my son enjoyed and became half a FISH. Second - the Hotel staff is courteous but so helpless. were really helpful when I had a flat tyre. Overall - a NO NO...

Antares "The Terrible" No Beach Restaurant
Sunset view from the restaurant
Rooms - Ocean Classic Rooms were just bit more sized than a double bed. Access to the beach - To go to the beach you need climb down 150-200 steps, obviously which won’t go well if you have infants with you, we were breathing frantically in the noon heat after climbing back Exorbitantly pricey - We ordered khichadi for my one year old infant, khichadi which was lesser than 50 grams of rice was approximately Rs. 330. Unbelievable right!! (Made to pay for an eliminated masterchef fame restaurant owner who is never found in the kitchen, but at the entrance welcoming the guests) Vegetarian's nightmare - There was nothing on the menu for vegetarians, nearby restaurant Thallasa was far better; we had a sumptuous dinner which cost Rs 7000 with nine people, whereas dinner for 2 people at Antares with three dishes cost Rs 3000. Complimentary breakfast was a joke; we had to go elsewhere to have a good breakfast Restaurant was five feet away from our ocean classic rooms with boom speakers playing club music all day and night. We felt we are sleeping inside the club on the bar table. We could not sleep that whole night, almost wishing that somehow this night passes by. My baby was crying incessantly and went to sleep once she was completely tired, when we complained they said its 'their' Christmas party and we needed to adjust. Management - of the hotel and the restaurant was different. If we even had to have a pint from the restaurant we had to pay them every time, which is still fine, however if we order even a bottle of water from room service, getting the bottle from any Vagator shack would have been a faster option. Management was not available so that we could have taken this issue ahead, and any other suitable arrangements could have been made. We asked time and again just to hear nothing from them There are a number of better properties around, but Antares is definitely not a 4 star property nor a place to stay with kids.
