Where to stay in Ao Kao
Ao Kao hotels & accommodations

I have been to Koh Mak 5 times and 4 of the 5 times I have stayed at Makathanee Resort. The location is excellent. In high season the Leelawadee Speedboat docks right there from the mainland letting you off right at the hotel entrance. It sits in what can best be considered the "heart of town" on the island with several restaurants, shops, Bangkok Hospital and a pharma...

It is a lovely tranquil location set back from the road where most of the restaurants are. There are just 5 bungalows set around a small lake. The rooms are large and comfy and each bungalow has a hammock on the veranda - that we spent many a happy hour relaxing in - as well as having two comfy chairs. It is only 3 or 4 minutes walk to the beach and nearly all the res...

Cheap price when compare with other resorts in Koh Mak. Not far from Ao Mid Pier. You can rental motor bike for go around the island at resort. Can see sunlight from your room. Breakfast was no bad. A bit unsatisfied thing is about the water pressure was weak sometime.

Clean resort with very nice appartment bungalows. Different from other hotels and resorts they let you first seat with a welcome drink after arrival and process the check-in while you are sipping your welcome drink. Very friendly personel who do an excellent job even when there is now boss around. Beach was cleaned every day. Excelent breakfast for only 100 Bt. The onl...

This is a really well managed simple little resort which is run by 2 young hoteliers who know their stuff. They care about their clients and offer a great service at unbeatable prices. I've been to Ko Mak several times over the last 10 years and can recommend the food here as way better than most of the more expensive long standing resorts along the Ao Kao beach. A so...

Cheapest bungalow is really basic, you sleep literally outside, but it's a part of adventure. Shared bathroom was ok and empty all the time. Beautiful garden and nice (not really cheap) restaurant here, but the beach is not so clean and shallow sea with rocks is not great for swimming. The best part of the hotel is a lovely bar working until late, where you can meet g...

The location is located on Ao Kao, which is very near to the pier and you can walk in 5-10 minutes, plus it's also near the beach. The place is clean and cozy, also the owner is friendly and nice to us. If you plan to rent a motorcycle on Koh Mak, I totally recommend this place.

Located at beautiful Ao Kao beach...quiet and secluded, privacy is assured. Lived in beachfront bungalow, I was abounded in breezes. Cozy and comfy environment with friendly staff. Love the simplicity of the room especially the design of its toilet. The food is so so and think that the bbq seafood dinner is nothing to shout about. Alternatives - there are a row of ...

The location is great, not far away from the pier and you can get everywhere easily by scooter (you can rent one at the accommodation for 250 THB per day). The staff were lovely and helpful! The best part is the room with balcony and a beautiful sea & sunset view! I would totally recommend & stay there again.

It was a good location on a nice beach but needs room renovation. Many many hotels/ resorts in Thailand are this way. I do not expect "developed" world accommodations. In fact I like to be in Thailand. However, if they don't renovate it WILL be purchased by a conglomerate and become that which Is Not Thailand. The staff were great!! They dressed like Thais and and lati...
