Lovely, new, convenient hotel on river and canal”
Aoi Hotel Kyoto has a great location on river and canal on a quiet side street that is close to everything from restaurants, Gion, temples and shrines, to transportation. The hotel itself is new so everything is in prime condition and the staff is very helpful. The bathroom floor is heated, the toilet/bidet is electric, the washer-dryer is so convenient as is the elevator to the room. The large and small Japanese prints in the room are perfect, as are the helpful books. We stayed on the less expensive canal-side on the fourth floor and all was quiet with a view of trees and canal looking down and trees and apartment buildings looking across. It's a nice street to come home to at night.

Amazing location! ”
Originally, we were booked at another hotel in Gion, but changed to Aoi Hotel Kyoto at the last minute. It was the right decision! The 201 unit was very spacious - with a family room, dining table, small kitchen, two comfortable beds, balcony with river view, Japanese style room, and large bathroom with two sinks, bath tub and shower. The bathroom also had a 2-in-1 dryer which was a bonus since we had been travelling for 3 weeks and needed to do laundry. The unit was extremely clean! The staff was also very accommodating to ensure housekeeping only to the areas requested, giving our child extra matcha candies, and making reservations for a hard-to reserve restaurant. The location is fantastic as it is only a 7-10 minute walk to the subway stations, dining malls, and Nishiki Market. I would highly recommend!!!!

Great location. Clean. Courteous staff”
We stayed at Aoi Kyoto Hotel in April 2017. Great stay. Room is huge. Bathroom sinks are quite small though. There is a laundry machine too. Staff is awesome. So helpful in every way. This hotel is also nearby a lot of restaurants and bars. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Great hotel at great location”
We were very lucky to stay in Rm 401, which has a great view of the river. The bath facilities were very nice. Will try other Aoi hotels in Kyoto next time.

Still wonderful with a few things to improve”
We are returned guests because we had fond memories of Aoi from 2 summers ago. It has nice view from the balcony, however, 1/2 of the balcony was wet when we checked in, and it wasn't raining. The staff should've checked the apartment and cleaned it up before guests arrived. Besides the weird smell when entering the foyer and lack of hot water when one of our family was showering, the rest was still as nice as we remembered. The staff was very warm and helpful, especially the lovely girl from Taiwan.

We stayed here during the Gion festival in July and the hotel is only minutes (by foot) away from the Gion festival area, yet so quiet and private. Our room was spacious, clean and had great amenities”
Emma was sensational with assisting us, whether we needed taxis (she'd translate everything) train timetables, so helpful. (Thankyou). I would recommend this boutique hotel if you wanted to stay in the heart of Kyoto as it is perfect for exploring the gorgeous streets and eateries and shopping in Gion and only 1000 yen to/from Kyoto station by taxi anyway. I hope to return soon!

Great for couples and families!”
Fantastic! Was fascinated with the auto full bath tub. :) The room felt like an apartment for the period of our stay from the entrance (with its door bell and bench outside for putting on your shoes), a well equipped kichenette (kitchen sink, hot plate, kettle, microwave, coffee maker), a work area with sunlight streaming in from the window (cd player with 2 jazz cds) and a washing machine! Did not have any food at the hotel but went to nearby restaurants and bars along the picturesque streets. The Hello Dolly jazz bar is a must visit. Friendly bartender Koji-san recommends lots of his favourites while he mixes your drinks.

Great Experience”
Spacious and nicely furnished rooms. Way bigger than standard hotel rooms in Kyoto, or Japan in general. Clean and well equipped. Stone's throw away from the train station, shopping district and eateries. Lastly, Handy device provided by the hotel was a bonus, useful for travelers who are relying on Google Maps!

Perfect”
Our visiting Japanese, Kyoto, and Osaka, friends all said, "so perfect" too :-) Every way, every question you might ask :-), answer is, "perfect". We very much enjoyed Suite 301 as base. Trying to think of something it lacked? . . . cannot :-) So quiet to sleep. Then step outside :-) and Gion's multitudinous visual, auditory and culinary attractions beckon from Aoi's doorstep :-). Our new Kyoto home :-)

Had everything we need for the family, washer, dryer, fridge, a beautiful Japanese little dining room, the most comfy beds, a terrace with beautiful views, an amazing bathroom. A boutique hotel with a view in quiet street but very centrally”
Pros I love the location. Couldnt be more perfect! Where you can enjoy Kamogawa river and also easy access to dept store and main street, Gion area. Takashimaya is around the corner where you can get everything you need. They have superb supermarket and food park. Cons As i was travelling with baby I wish I can cook in a room but its ok microwave is good enough Defenitely stay here again next time in Kyoto

Phenomenal apartment”
Highly recommend it !! Fantastic location -close to touristic locations and restaurants. If w family is great! Pictures do not do justice to the beauty of the place- river view is peacefull- would stay there again - take a taxi from Kyoto station otherwise need to take 2 subway/train (1500 yen). Jr going to touristic area is very close too- love the place!! Suggest to add iron- toaster - it has washing machine - very useful - has reception service till 10 pm- English speaking

Exceptional”
Rm 301 is perfectly fit for 3 adults. Highly recommend this amazing place! Very convenient to go to so many tourism sites, all within walkable distance. The left sides are Shopping malls and the right are Gion, temples, and other historical sites. The hotel is sitting right along the Kamogawa River. Can find great, traditional and fashion restaurants all around. Honestly I would like to stay here for a month if I have time... More importantly, very clean, cozy hotel with all kind and helpful staff. Thanks Loan, Yuki, Li, Stefanie and other staff I might not be able to meet for hosting my family.
