“Beyond satisfied ”
At first I was a bit nervous due to this being our first time staying somewhere other than Shibuya and Shinjuku. However, my family and I are beyond satisfied with our experience with APA Sugamo. Location: It is very very close to the Sugamo station (Yamanote line), which is way we mainly rode and a smaller route for the Mita line, which we rode a few times. We used our phones (iPhones), for using the subway stations daily. (Connect your suica card to your wallet app) There are tons of restaurants and a cafe across. There was a 7 eleven at the corner and family mart, Burger King, and McDonald’s were right across. A bigger 7 eleven was a small walk past the sugamo station. It was the holidays so Tokyo was really quite busy, but Sugamo was so peaceful, which I was so relieved for. Our flight arrived around 10am and check in policy isn’t until 3am. Check in early was only 1000¥, which was only $6. A great steal! There were washing machines on 4 floors, and there’s a channel on their television, which notifies you how many minutes left on each floor. Their washing machines are wash/dry. Rooms are quite small, but it’s Japan - almost everything is designed that way. We made due with whatever space was given. A decent size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided for our 2 week stay. Small amenities too (toothbrush, hair combs, body scrub, q tips, cotton). A HUGE thing I liked was they would hang a plastic bag of new amenities EVERYDAY. (2 bath towels, 2 small towels, robes, and coffee, etc.) With or without your consent, rooms are cleaned every 2-3 days. There were vending machines in 2 floors and a microwave on the 9th floor. Cleanliness: The room was always dusty, which was annoying, but nothing to really inform the front desk about. Walls would need to be scrubbed a bit, nothing too noticeable if you don’t really stare at it while showering.. lol! Under the bed was 🤔 There were shoes from previous stays and some tissue under the bed, which we didn’t realize until near the end of our stay. Cleaning materials were also kind of everywhere in the hallway right outside our door, which was kind of odd (during cleaning time). You’d see used towels/bedding on the floor as their cleaning, but again, just something to be aware of not really something to complain about at least for us. Staff: We had no issue with staff. They were very nice and accommodating. I booked a smoking room by accident and they were able to change it to a nonsmoking room (based on availability).
