Price needs to be fixed”
APA villa is a great hotel food staff and a nice pool very relaxing but when booking with agoda we paid $239 p/n when other people there who didn't book with agoda were paying half that. How can there be different prices ? Not fair not happy

Charming-The Best”
This boutique hotel was more like having a mini palace for a few days. Beautiful spacious rooms (living-room, porch, bedroom, bathroom) with minimalist cool polished concrete decor, augmented with dutch antique wood. All service was personal room service with our own dining table for breakfast and any other meal you wanted--food was delicious. Staff were discrete and friendly. The pool was gorgeous and long enough to do laps, this infinity design made it seem like you were swimming towards the sea. The garden is lovely and private with hammocks for that read/nap after lunch. We had dinner in the hotel one night, try the seared tuna and the chocolate mouse with passion fruit. We also had a delicious veggie curry the first day for lunch. The breakfast has a lot of choices, local or international- try the sri lankan omelet and the curd(yogurt) with syrup. Another night we took a tuk tuk to Galle (20 mins) for the sunset and a lovely dinner in this UNESCO city. In the evening it is cool and quiet compared to the daytime where is can be swamped with school children and tourists. If you get there for 5pm you have the chance to walk the rampart before the sunset. The clean beach infront of the hotel is narrow but was more or less empty of people--no touts at all. The water was very clean and the sand is light coloured with some coral rock before the waves(in April) (maybe good to bring swimming shoes and goggles or snorkel mask).Watch out for the occasional sea turtle! If you don't like swimming in waves, or if you have kids or want a variety of swimming-- if you walk/run left onto the beach for about 10-15 minutes past the headland, there is a lovely lagoon where you can swim more than 150m without being sloshed (unfortunately in front of a rather ugly four story hotel behind a wall-- but you don't have to look at it! Instead spot the friendly sea birds and watch the waves break on the old coral barrier as you swim by.

Our favourite place in Sri Lanka ”
We have stayed at Apa 4 or 5 times and always find it our favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka, especially of all the beach places. Classic design, amazing pool, friendly staff and a great location for exploring beaches, Galle and areas inland. Can't wait to get back there on our next trip.

Absolutely horrible experience ”
Broken toilet, (ask for them to fix it, it lasted one flush) entire place smells like mould, pool has slime in it. Food was ok, the real annoying part was, when we're leaving, we had to ask for the food bill. They brought it out and we signed. The staff then went back to the office. I assumed they would just charge my credit card. When we arrived at our next destination, and wow, apa had rang the hotel and proceeded to abuse is for skipping out on the bill. Rather then just sending an email and allowing us to fix (their mistake) by paying using their website. The bad talked us to our current hotel, got into a screaming match with our driver and basically called us criminals. Really odd behaviour from a sub-standard place. Ended up ignoring them and just sending them the money through PayPal. Even with out that issue, it was just complete over priced for what it is. It's not a villa, just a very small hotel, with smelly rooms, broken toilets, and a dirty pool. Not worth the premium "villa" price.

Pleasant stay”
Lovely location and swimming pool by the sea. Staff keen to help but service at times was very slow. Perfect for a break from busy travelling as a very peaceful spot and not busy with lots of guests due to limited number of rooms.

Relax, own space, design
Calm, relaxing, good service, opportunity to get your own space or go to Galle for shopping/ dinner. We went for a long-weekend with the purpose to just get som rest, read books and enjoy each other without too much disturbance. It was the perfect place for that purpose.

The grounds, the room and the staff.
Brilliant. So much better than all the larger supposedly high end hotel chains in Sri Lanka which can be very disappointing (Jetwing Blue etc).

Rooms were really spacious. The staff left us alone ie did not hang around us too much. Staff were obliging
The family enjoyed. Pity that you cannot swim in the sea in this area. But the pool more than compensated. We loved the hammocks placed around the garden which allowed outdoor relaxation. Some of the bathroom fittings may need to be replaced. For instance the hand bidet came apart at first use in one room. And the toilet seat tops are obviously cheap replacements.
