Stayed during Full Moon in October. We were the only guests. Far walk from the main road but once you are on the main road lots of bar/restaurant/grocery choices in the area. Better if you rent a motorbike. Newer fan rooms were nice and clean but have to go to lobby for wifi. There are better/closer options during low season but good value when other places are booked ...

Traveler impressions of Koh Phangan
Small island you can travel around in one day on motorbike. But with very different beaches, some really very quiet and beautiful, some very busy full of party people.
We went to Phangan on a day trip. I would not recommend it. You have to hire a boat taxi to get out there and once there you are stuck.
5 nights is enough time. U can see the island in 1 day shopping is very basic. It is a very quite island and very relaxing and slow.
It is most famous for its Full Moon party, which sees the area swell with young tourists. Afterwards, the numbers of tourists drops as there is more to do on the other islands which make up the Samuis.
I really enjoyed Koh Phangnan. I found it much more relaxed than Koh Samui, the beaches are nicer and it isn't ruined by mass tourism (yet)
dunno why so many people go there - no good sea and beaches, locals (вurmese) are very unfriedly. i recommend attend only full moon party, that's all.
Its a Beautiful Island with full of Green & beaches,Good for Couples & for the Party only the moon Parties are suggested, the Clubs are & nightlife is not that great nor the activities.
If want to stay calm area, thong sala is the choice, but the beach is not friendly to swim. Have to go to other beach, Haad Rin, Haad Yao, Koh Ma.
Koh Phangan is very big island about 30 minutes far from Koh Samui by high speed catamaran, there are many waterfalls in the national park , many nice beaches ,lots of good restaurants and hotels and lots of parties in this island.
Based on what the locals say, this island receives about 5 - 6 times the no. of tourists during full moon party dates and super peak blocks compared to the rest of peak season.
Great place We intended to do all the islands but came here and made it our base and just visited the others.
Southern Part is Haar Rin Beach full of parties with nice beach but with very craggier road ahead to.
I loved the island of Koh Phangan. Very beautiful beaches, water and warm people. The full moon parties held here are famous, lots of fun! Great place to snorkel, lie in the sun and do nothing.
I loved Koh Phangan. I've been going to Thailand for 15 years and had always steered clear of it because of the reputation of the full moon parties (avoid August apparently).
Beautiful beaches and fun place to party with other tourists, but if you're looking for a Thai culture experience, this is NOT the place to go.
Just visited for my second time and I can say the island is the fasted devolping tourist spot I've ever been to, within 18 months time i feel like it's gone from a chill somewhat foreign feeling island to going and visiting a china town in the U.
Nice Island, not much to do actually besides some highlights, during the full moon parties it's crowded.
Koh Phangan is an Island of Suratthani similar size as Koh Samui but still more natural than Koh Samui People also friendly as a tourist place Beautiful beached especially Thong Nai Pan Beach Manything to explore in Koh Pha Ngan
Koh Phangan has changed a lot over the years, it use to be a place where one could go and relax, take some tail boats around the islands.
Koh Phangan is a nice island in the Gulf of Thailand offering activities for nearly any interest group, dining, sports, nightlife, beaches etc.
Don't hire a bike unless you really have hadalot of experience, the bikes for hire usually have no tread on tyres and there is a lot of sand and gravel on the roads, get songtheaw taxis, they're cheap enough or use a water taxi to get to other beaches
We went for the exciting full moon party at haad Rin and stayed for a couple of more days to watch Koh Phangan.
there are many different parties on the island. jungle party, half-moon party, full-moon party, etc.
One of my favorite places in the world. Whether you want to party hard at the full-moon party or relax at a secluded resort Koh Phangan can offer whatever you want.
It is a little bit expensive for the flight ticket to Koh samui when compared to the other parts of Thailand but it is certainly worth it!
very beautiful Island , if you go to Haad rin and you want a remote beach go to the coco hut beach- beautiful and quiet very close and almost not known to anyone take a trip to Haad sadet waterfalls there are many nice tours sold on every tourist booking shop make sure you take one and go with good camera - if you can , take a waterproof camera and a waterproof bag the boats dont have pier and you need to swim to the boat make sure your stay is either on "halfmoon party or full moon party try to stick to one resturant which doesnt make you sick.
A nice place to visit for the beautiful sandy beaches and great nightlife. would recommend travelling in a group for max.
Good for anybody that looking for quite and some fun when they have an activities i.e. Full moon party, Half moon party, Shiva moon party, Dark moon party or pool party etc.
Its the Ibiza of Thailand, so if you are a family or not interested in all night parties, or being kept awake by them, chose your location well.
Koh Phangan is a great beach in Thailand If you want go to the party that who drink a lot you can go in here.
Koh Phangan's best hotels with breakfast

We arrived at the Koh Phangan jetty and rented a 4x4 car for about USD 40 per day. The resort does provide pickup service from the jetty (chargeable per person per way) but if you have more than 4 persons it is better to rent a 4x4 car. The distance from the jetty to the resort is quite far but the traffic and road condition is consider good except that you need to dri...

The Bayshore was absolutely stunning! This was me and my sis first time to Thailand and we loved our stay here in koh phangan. We were in Thailand for 3 weeks. we stayed here 3 nights in beginning of February during half moon party. We are both close to 30 years old and enjoyed the vibe here. Not too young, not too old. Didn't see any kids/ families during our stay eit...

One of the best hotels i stayed the last years, and we stay in a lot of hotels, very friendly and helpful staff, nice private beach, some corals next to beach. The only downside of the hotel its quiet isolated in koh phangan, the roads to the hotel are in very bad condition. Amazing breakfast as amazing swimming pool, but most likely you will use your private swimming ...

We are in Koh Phangan for the Fullmoon party, we booked our hotel quite late, but this hotel is beyond expectation! The service is excellent, the spa in the hotel is a must try, because its definitely worth of money. And the location is superb, its only 5 mins walk to the full moon party beach but you won't hear the noise at all after back in the hotel at 3 am while th...

I spent a week travelling around Koh Phangan and this was my favourite hotel. From the minute we arrived, we loved our time at the hotel. The hotel layout is clever and inviting. The staff were genuinely welcoming and friendly - all leading to a great atmosphere which is so hard to find. The hotel sits beside some of the most expensive hotels on Koh Phangan but has a m...

This is our best experience in Thailand during our 3 weeks here! The staff is fantastic and unbelievable friendly! A hide away from the Haad Rin area. 100m from the hotel you have Koh Maa and a fantastic beach, another small resort next door with great thaifood! We had a deluxe room which were very spacious with a big terrace, the only thing is that you don't have a ...

Hotel was very luxurious and beautiful - from our room to pool area. There were alot of spots for sunbathing and relaxing. Staff was helpful and friendly. Every night staff brought some sweets and a letter wishing good night to our room - that was really sweet. Beach was lovely, but quite shallow and not suitable for swimming. Scenery was stunning, sunsets magnificent ...

by far the best hotel we have stayed in Koh Phangan. the location is the opposite side of the full moon party Haadrin. the view is amazing and the water is more nicer. you don’t have to eat out because their restaurant by the beach is so affordable. Great food specially massamun curry with rice. fresh coconut only 20Baht. super cheap! nearby services available like fam...

Best hotel! The best stuff ever! The hotel is new, the location is great, private beach, quite and also close to everything. The room was so beautiful, like all the hotel and pool. The stuff are so kind and ! nice! For sure I will come back again! The restaurant is the best in Koh Phangan!

a truly wonderful place to stay. very clean, everything new. nice big comfy bed, ac works just fine. very beautiful and modern huts. great pool with sea view. the staff was lovely and very helpful. i absolutely recommend this place! maybe the best in koh phangan ;) only the beach is almost non existant when the tide is high.

Amazing resort! The staff are so friendly, and go out of their way to look after guests. Food is excellent, cocktails are perfect. The resort offers a free shuttle into Haad Rin. The rooms are immaculately clean. You won't find better on Koh Phangan. The Cabin is a tropical paradise.

Fantastic hotel, beautifully decorated and well located in a very peaceful area in Koh Phangan, away from the noise and the crowd. The villas with private pool are unbelievable: it makes you feel like you've rented a whole house and not a hotel room. The service level is extremely high (Apple TV in the room with a wide range of movies and music for free, free liquour a...

a few of us travelled around thailand for a few weeks and we wanted to stay somewhere nice in koh phangan during the half moon party. this resort out did every expectation, it was amazing! very clean rooms which you would pay alot of money for anywhere in the world, huge comfy bed, high ceilings and lovely view of the private beach. the beach was lovely and quiet and ...

Location: near to the sea, stunning view and you can do laundry and rent scooter next to the bungalows. The location is relaxed but not too low. Food: you can do breakfast, lunch and diner very good. We’ve just had Thai cuisine for dinner, which was really delicious!! But you can have western cuisine as well. Breakfast was good too and also various. Accomandation: We s...

After staying 7 days in Koh Phangan for full moon I was looking forward to relaxing poolside at Bluerama. This place is stunning, but if you are looking for a quiet relaxing day by the pool- it is non existent. There are lots of ppl that come outside of the resort and it gets really crowded, especially around sunset. Other than that, everything was great! Reception is ...

we stayed here for 5 nights after a nice relaxing stay on koh tao. we loved baan manali as it was so easy to relax. although the beach isn't ideal for sunbathing and swimming, it is very easy to get a taxi to another beach if you want to on koh phangan and we went to 3 other beaches whilst we were there to see as much of the island as we could. it's a very short walk i...

You can not find a better place to stay in Koh Phangan!! It is on the beautiful Had Rin (sunrise beach) on which the full moon parties are held, but it's on the opposite end of the beach and therefore still quiet enough to get some sleep when you need it. It's central to everything in Koh Phangan but it still feels like you have your own piece of the island even in Pe...

The first thing that struck me about Milky Bay was the space between and the sheer size of the villas. We stayed in Villa and if you are tossing up between a villa and a normal room I urge you to splash out and get this style of room, worth every penny. Everything from the second/day bed in the corner, the couches, the spacious bathroom... having stayed in a few differ...

One of the most nice places in Koh Phangan. Tranquolity and chillout flyes in the air at Loifa resort. Staff is briliant. Resort is cozy and nnice just on the secluded small beach in Sritanu. Perfect breakfast, beutifull garden, two pools.... sure we come back again. Thanks Loyfa

It's hard to find a reasonable place now on the beach in Sri Thanu area. The place is dated and needs a new look. The walls are paper thin and all rooms are attached. For an island like Koh Phangan and in this price range it's a good choice if you're not a light sleeper!

From the moment we stepped off the ferry we were welcomed by a member of staff from the resort and transferred free The resort itself is spectacular with breath taking views from the top of one of Koh Phangans mountains Our room was lovely with beautiful sea views, clean , comfortable and a great size with a wonderful balcony. All the staff were brilliant and they ma...

We travelled 3weeks in Thailand, we spent 6 days in Koh Phangan in the resort and we had the nicest experience in Thailand. Even the standard room was very comfortable and very clean. Great location, beautiful beach, good restaurant with a bbq on the beach every evening and extremly friendly and competent staff!!!! I highly recommend the resort, we would come back ag...

Stayed here a week, and I loved it. Haad Salad is a really nice beach, and the hotel is ideally positioned. A short ride east gets you to Chaloklam which is a jumping off point for taxi boats to some of the more remote beaches. Head south 5 minutes on a motorbike and you're at Haad Yao which is another excellent beach area. Haad Salad itself is quiet, but has quick...

Pros: staff was incredibly nice and helpful. They went above and beyond to make our experience on Koh Phangan a great one. They gave us great tips on where to go and the bar even let me play music from my phone over the sound system. The food was good, although the Thai food was toned down for tourists. The bed was comfortable. We often just stayed on the resort and re...

Nice village, nice house, everything new, very clean, modern and functional. Nice pool too. Location pretty quiet. The only downside was the mattress, hard as hell! I have lived in Thailand for many years so I am aware that the beds here are pretty hard, but this one was like wood! Even my husband who is usually not sensitive to that spent an awful night on this bed. S...

We stayed 4 nights here and overall enjoyed the place. The location is great; right on the beach which is quiet and large enough to find your own private spot. Our bungalow was very small, but for the money we paid, we cannot complain. If you're a tall person or like a little more space, ask for one of the larger rooms. The staff is extremely friendly and ready to help...

my favorite place to stay in koh phangan but not ideal for long term more than 4 days. the rooms are basic, some bungalows have flushable toilets ( some you have to pour water on it but at least it's not a squat toilet). it's supposed to be eco friendly so there is no hot water but totally tolerable. beware as some of the bathrooms have no proper insulation so mosquito...
