I was terrified after reading some of the reviews about this hotel but it was an absolutely amazing experience. Staff was friendly and spoke good English. Rooms were very tidy and were cleaned daily. Last two days of our 6 night stay, rooms were cleaned quite late afternoon but cleaned to a great standard. View from the hotel was nice. Bathrooms and room space was huge compared to uk hotels. Was overall very impressed and would definitely stay here again

We were very careful about your choice of accommodation since we were in Rome for the first time with my family. We completed 4 nights of our 1-week holiday by staying at this facility. Camelia was very helpful, very meticulous, friendly person, she gave us the details of where to go, how to travel, meticulously helped us with our subsequent stay and transportation. Breakfast was very nice, facility facilities were very good, cleaning was important for us because we are with children.The cleaning was excellent. He made us happy by offering us coffee. The location is very close to the city and the metro station, we went mostly to the city center after breakfast and we used the metro easily because we were tired on the way back. The area where the hotel is located is a very reliable, very quiet area. We are sure that this is the only place to stay if we travel to Rome in the future.

Lovely hotel! Staff were friendly and attentive... food was lovely and reasonably priced, close enough to the centre and not far from a bus stop into town... The main road outside is literally busy all day and night you don't hear a great deal from the road except the beeping of horns which can be anytime day or night... having said that our 9yr old and 1yr old slept peacefully... 😉 Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay just outside the centre... as a family with young children it was perfect for us... The receptionist also recommended a lovely restaurant just around the corner Mangiares... also highly recommended!!

The Hostel was very good. The bed was comfortable and clean and the room got clean everyday. The Location was very good because it was close to the Train Station which brougth u to the Airport. And the next subway was not far away. The owner of the Hostel was very friendly and empathic. The only thing I have to criticize was the Flush of the toilette. If you are young and are ready to adventure rome, the interaction of being close to the City life and having a calm place in the night is perfect.

I chose this hotel for just staying overnight - it is nearby Ciampino airport. But make sure your arrival is not after 11PM. Although I announced by e-mail about our late check-in, the gates were closed, nobody answered the phone calls (I tried 2 times, it went immediately to the mailbox). In quite a desperate mood in the middle of nowhere we started to scream, after 5 min someone came to let us in. All this happened 11.30PM. We came from Sardinia. (Another tip - you can't get taxi with normal price however close your location might be. For this 7 min ride they still charged 30 € as fixed price) Otherwise - rooms are good and everything was fine. Just be careful if your check-in time for some reasons is late evening.

I stayed at Porta Maggiore guesthouse with my friend and had a great stay. The room was very nice, and Roberto was very helpful with us. Their service and cleanliness was great. They had everything we needed except air conditioning. But the fan kept it cool enough. I'd recommend anyone to stay here, especially if you are solo travelling or making your way around Italy or Europe.

This place disappointed on every level.The room we were assigned didn’t match the standard of photographs on their website, probably taken in a superior room when it was first opened?The side tables and desk in the room were cheap items tacked onto the walls, with holes and stains, literally hanging off walls. The room was right next to the main kitchen/eating area so no privacy for us staying in that room. When we expressed our surprise at the quality of the room in comparison to what is depicted on the website the owner/manager suggested we could leave if we weren’t happy.The toilet in the bathroom ran constantly and shower stall was configured so that you could barely move sideways.Towels thin & weren’t changed in the 3 nights we were there. Bedsheets had small stains on them.This was supposed to be a romantic and idyllic location, instead was a run down B and B in a less than salubrious neighbourhood. Expensive breakfast.Not far from metro which is good. Local market was great.

The hotel is decent for the price. We caught the free minibus to the Metro station each morning to get in to Rome. Very easy and took around 30 minutes from leaving the hotel. For the return, we used our 3-day travel pass to use the local bus to get dropped right outside the hotel. All very easy. The location of the hotel is on the Rome ring-road but there wasn't any noise from the traffic. Using the subways and walking paths, we were able to walk to local shops/restaurants/cafes, but there isn't many. The main reasons for staying here were we had driven, so needed parking and didn't want to drive into Rome and also to see a music concert at the Capannelle horse racing course. Although it was very close, it was impossible to walk to and from. Taxi is a must. In the hotel, the beds were comfy, the rooms were clean, the pool decent, the breakfast was suitable and the air con good. Overall, the hotel was good for what we needed.

The thing that really sets the hotel is really the service. All the staff were extremely courteous whether it was the hotel desk or the breakfast servers and extremely accommodating. Though the breakfast spread was not extensive in variety, anything it lacked in quantity was made up for in quality. We had the best pastry ever during breakfast. If I had any gripes, it may be that it is not in central Rome, but it is close enough to the train station and a quick train ride away from the colosseum and the fountain Trevi area. I will definitely stay in the hotel if I visit Rome again!

We had a wonderful stay at Desiderio di Roma. Grazia and her family were very attentive hosts. The apartment and room were clean and a very good size. The apartment was very close to public transport - the bus stop was right outside and it was a ten minute walk to the Metro. The kitchen facilities were good however you could not cook anything from scratch. Breakfast was good at the local cafe.

A nice hotel located 5 mins walk from the Metro station. The ride to the center takes about 15 mins. Several restaurants in the neighbourhood. (Try the restaurant nextdoor, but don't forget to make a reservation!) The breakfast buffet, served on the roof terrass, only lacks fresh non-sweet bread. A fridge in the room really would have been nice! We stayed 3 nights, but would have liked to stay longer.

Right after arriving the heavy doorframe on top of our balcony door crashes down and almost hits my partner in the head. The metallic shutter to the balcony only opens some 1m, so in order to access the balcony we have to crawl through. I send emails to the manager of the place, but never get a response. We lock our room door when going to sleep, since there are other people staying in the flat, too, but on the second night our key breaks inside the lock and now we're locked inside the room. Horror! Only due to some serious skills, incredible patience and sheer luck my partner manages to open the door without breaking it and save us from having to climb balconies..

This small hotel is located in a pretty district in Art Nouveau style. Though it is 10 minutes walk from San Giovanni in Laterano, there's no traffic and it is a really good choice if you are travelling for work. The staff is very kind and they can give you every information you need. The place is well connected to public transports. A point they could improve is breakfast, not so rich and served in a basement. However, nobody is perfect. Breakfast starts at 8.00 a.m., but they can serve it before on request.

What a truly wonderful weekend break from start to finish. Perfect in every way. We were met at the airport by a limo driver (kindly arranged by Julia) and then warmly welcomed by Maurizio on arriving at Appia Antica Resort. He showed us round the beautiful Domus Priscilla apartment, which was immaculate and had been beautifully decorated by his wife, Maria-Luisa. A bottle of sparkling wine was waiting for us (and greatly enjoyed). We were then given a quick overview of the local area, including bus timetables, metro locations etc., handed a map and details of our tours around ancient Rome and the Vatican. This was practical and informative and ensured we knew exactly what we needed to for the rest of the stay. Then because we had arrived later than expected Maurizio very kindly drove us a nearby restaurant for dinner, stopping briefly on the way to show us some of the fascinating sites on the Appian Way. We were recommended a selection of restaurants and the one we chose was lovely. The service and food were great. We couldn't have eaten another thing and then due to the late hour, the owner of the restaurant kindly drove us back to the resort. We slept very soundly indeed. The next morning we had breakfast in the apartment, as Maurizio and Maria-Luisa had left us ample goodies in the fridge. We crossed the road outside the resort and took the 118 bus towards the Colosseum. Bus tickets are cheap and it only took 10 minutes and a short walk from where we got off. We had booked the semi-private tour and it was very good. Our guide was friendly and full of information and it was breathtaking to finally see such wonders of the ancient world up close. Next we had lunch at La Taverna dei Fori Imperiali, which had been recommended by the resort. We had a really great meal here and the restaurant was full within minutes of opening, a testament to how good it is. Absolutely superb! The room and apartment have all you need, though it's quite dirty. The kitchen looks good only on photo. 20 min to city center. The district is noisy and dirty. Actually, I think it's ok for the price you pay. But we were disappointed by the behaviour of the host - completely unfriendly. Wifi didn't worked when we arrived, so we went to the host's office in the next building, he answered us, but didn't open the door! In one day we met him at the apartment and he said wifi didn't work because it was hot outside... did he consider us idiots? I said that the problem is in the connection, not in the router. He stayed a bit and then suddenly left the apartment without saying a word! However, the next day wifi started working :) I didn't understand why it was difficult to say something like "ok, I'll fix it"?
