Good hostel”

I arrived in Philadelphia by Megabus and the location of the hostel is within walking distance. It's around historical area such as Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. There's free dinner every wednesday, very generous. I stayed in co-ed room in 4th floor and no elevator :( The room is spacious, ensuite bathroom, and very clean.

Absolutely loved it! ”

You must stay here! Everyone was so nice! Mark (the owner) especially - was so great meeting him. We had a ghost walking tour which was the highlight of my trip to Philadelphia. The location was great! The room was so spacious! There was also a movie night such a fun time

This is a really nice hostel! The best bang for your buck in Philly I think~”

I felt like at $33 a night (including tax and fees) this hostel was a bit pricey, considering I was in an 18 person bunk room (granted it was the cheapest I could find). That being said, the whole place was very spacious (the room is huge), so you have plenty of room to move around, despite the rooms having so many people. They also do different events every night of the week, which is nice (e.g. my first night was free beer and movie night; I ended up drinking free beer and watching the NBA playoff game, which was nice). They also do a haunted city tour on Tuesday which I didn't make it to, but sounded nice. The bathroom facilities are decently clean (for a hostel, pretty good!), and they have free clean hand and body towels available (and free soap). Plenty of stalls and showers, so I never had to wait to pee or wash up. The location is good for Independence Hall area, but it is a decent walk to the fashion/shopping district or Penn/Drexel campus. Overall though, great impression!

Super space😀”

While visiting a fellow traveler saw a mouse. The host responded in less than 15 to turn the situation around! Amazing!! Then there was the scathing hot water pot. It was still not in need of attention after departure. I’m guessing a new hot pot is in the future at Apple? One more suggest: a natural surfactant to clean all food surfaces. Inexpensive idea: Apple cider vinegar? Trader Joe’s clear stuff? Lemon and water? Anything better for the environment than blue stuff. All in all a great place to stay. Call ahead or email for specials or dates of concern. Just do it!

Great hostel!”

This hostel is really outstanding. Just 2 blocks from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, and only a block or two from two different subway stops. The facility is safe and clean and spacious with a friendly staff. There was free coffee/tea at breakfast. We even lucked into a free evening pasta meal they were serving when we arrived. Plenty of options for a bed, from a budget bunk in a dorm room to a private family room. This is a great example of what hosteling has to offer. We'll be back!

I only stayed at this property for one night. It's very close to the Old Town. It's okay for a hostel and especially at this price you can't ask for much in Philly. Very helpful staff and I enjoyed my stay.

City of Brotherly Love”

Great hostel, great location, and great staff! 5 stars for everything but the facilities...and I gave that 4 stars. My reason, although very environmentally friendly, the flush free urinals are beyond repulsive...the smell that radiates from these urinals...I can't even!

Location near museums & places of interests, Attentive & friendly staff, WiFi

Hostel is clean. Organise activities for guests. Free coffee, tea and hot chocolate drinks all day. Free milk and cereals on weekends. Staff are helpful. Impressed that usb ports are provided at bedside for charging and locker facilities with charging points. My only complain is the flight of stairs to climb with my 28 inch luggage bag.

Experience was bad as i was forced to pay extra”

Location, quite and clean

Other than the problem of the hostel extortion when I was checking in and had prepaid for my stay, I was told I had to pay extra for some membership in an international club. I did not like it at all, as either I paid up or I would not get my accommodation for which I had already paid.

Deserves its recent hostel award 👍”

I stayed in a private room, which was dearer than a dorm bed, but enormous. Pros: • great location in the old town • self-serve laundry is handy and only $5 • bathrooms are immaculate and huge • activities are great and affordable • lounge areas are big and beautifully decorated • shared kitchen is extensive and well maintained. Self-serve automatic espresso machine ($1) a nice touch • printed guide was very handy • in-room tv with Hulu, Amazon, Crackle and others was a surprising inclusion • 24-hour reception is very welcome Cons (mostly quite minor, and probably wouldn’t prevent me from staying again) • there’s no elevator, which makes a 4th-floor room with heavy luggage a challenge (although I love the symbolism in the stairwell!) • linens are included but some not particularly clean (had to return a blanket with obvious, er, human stains), and sheets were laundered but still had hair stuck on • wi-fi is free but patchy, in both the lobby and in rooms
