Ah Singapore! If you're not rich, your hotel choices are nothing like you would find in Europe and much less than you would find in the Americas (and likely elsewhere). What to do? Well, you essentially have two choices - a backpacker hostel or a "cheap" hotel. (A lot of these backpacker hostels are pretty nice btw but you share a room with a bunch of strangers). Aqueen is one of those "cheap" hotels - yes, that's "cheap" in Singapore. And that's where I think you see a number of reviews that are unhappy with the place. Out of the context of Singapore, this place is just too small. In the context of Singapore, it's a tremendous bargain. What you get is a microscopic room with about 6 inches of space on either side, an ensuite bath with 3' x 3', and that's about it. Even the "queen" room's bed is much smaller than what a queen room would be elsewhere. It's very hard to fit two average adults in it. Apart from that, the place is great! The staff is professional, the hotel is clean, there's an in-room safe, etc. There is no room service and limited concierge. The location is amid a million little places to eat and a stone's throw from a sizable shopping mall. There is an MRT station up over the hill sort of behind the hotel but it a little too far and too hot to walk if you ask me. Right out the door, however, buses stop to take you wherever you want to go, including the MRT station of your choice. Very convenient. The staff was always available to help me find out how to use the buses and tell me which ones to take. Another nice thing is that the road out front is plied by taxis and you can just wave one down in contrast to much of Singapore where you have to queue. I would easily stay here again if in Singapore.

Thumbs Up! for Aqueen Balestier Hotel”
My husband and I had our first anniversary and second honeymoon in Singapore and our stay at Aqueen Balestier Hotel is just great! Denifinitely CAN'T complain about anything. The hotel staff are very welcoming especially the lady named Emma. She is such a wonderful lady. The lobby and the hotel's ambience is very nice. We just loved our room at the 6th floor. The view from the window is very pleasant and the daily cleanliness of our room is just awesome! We enjoyed our stay and had a blast and will definitely stay again at this hotel if ever we have the chance to visit Singapore for the second time. One more thing is the location. It is a perfect spot for food and commute. Hawker centres are everywhere and the bus stop is just a few minutes away from the hotel. Can't beat that!

Nice littel city hotel with clean comfortable room”
I had a very enjoyable stay at Aqueen Hotel Balestier this time. It's proximity and ready access to public transport benefitted me as I did not rent a car and need to go to various places in Singapore for meetings. I was able to handle moving around without any issue. The hotel's room is small but very clean and comes with a nice shower. The bed is big and comfortable and service staff replenished the amenities daily. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful and very fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese. Good value for money!

Staffs are very helpful and kindness. Room is clean and tidy. Really a small... room. The room is facing Balestier Road, a bit nosie when there is traffic. The staff at Aqueen Hotel Balestier were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was comfortable, and it was a nice place to stay at. The service staff is very friendly & always greet you when you step into the hotel.. Location is good too not very far away for orchard.. And there a lot of local delights area the hotel.. The room is clean & the size of the room is reasonable.. Overall is good.. Great chicken rice restaurants right near the hotel. Definitely have lunch there if you can. Really enjoyed my stay here, staff really helpful. Street food vendors nearby are so yummy.

Very good and Affordable hotel in Singapore”
I stayed at the Aqueen Hotel Balestier in October 2012. The check in was ok, took around 10-12 m, and the staff were friendly and courteous. I booked a small single room as I had a 15 hour transit in Singapore. The bed was clean and comfortable and the room was new and well decorated. The bed side had the master light controls and it was easy to turn on/ off the lights. The room also had a window. The air con was working perfectly ok. The free internet was very fast and over all I liked the hotel. Its value for money. I will recommend this hotel to travelers on a budget! However, no breakfast was provided. You can easily get a cab outside the hotel. The drive from the hotel to changi airport cost me 16 SG Dollars. I will rate this hotel 4/5!

There are many good things about this hotel: newly renovated, cleanliness, and hotel staff hospitality. Also, Aqueen Balestier Hotel is surrounded by places to eat i.e. Boon Tong Kee – chicken rice. Only drawback is that it takes about 10 min by bus to the nearest MRT station. Overall, it worth money spent. I would consider staying at Aqueen Balestier if I come back to Singapore.

Aqueen Hotel Balestier is a great budget-style hotel. It's small but comfortable, very nicely decorated and is perfect for a business traveler. Their staff is great and pleasant people. It's new and clean. It's located walking distance from many good restaurants.

A great budget hotel on Balestier, clean and comfortable, kind staff. Rooms are small but so is the price - and the smartly designed rooms more than make up for the small size as does the cleanliness and comfort. For an expensive city, the Aqueen offers a budget friendly alternative.

2 day trip”
The place looks better than it did in pictures. Internet was really fast and the room was really clean. The rule of strictly no smoking is really a plus point for me especially when many budget hotels claim to have non smoking floors but they still smell of smoke anyway. This hotel smells awesome. Aqueen is also pretty convenient, you can take 2 buses that reaches novena station in 6 stops (comes in every 10 minutes). I highly recommend this hotel especially if you are a solo traveller.

Unless you need a nicer cafe or bigger room to entertain guest, this hotel provides the best quality for the stay as compared to other similar hotels. Things i like:- 1) Clean and fresh from the lobby to the room; 2) Could leave luggage before or after check-in; 3) Receptionist is helpful and fast check-in and check-out; 4) Besides the basic room features, i truly enjoy the cozy window seat design that I could sit there comfortably watch TV for few hours, reading or enjoy city view while having a coffee; 5) A super delicious Singapore Chicken Rice restaurant is just 2 mins walk from the hotel; & 6) Quiet environment, like staying in residential apartment then hotel. Things don't bother me:- 1) Room is small but all amenities are well structured and layout in the room; & 2) Small table only suitable to work on one laptop (not comfortable if seriously need to work for more than 2 hours a day, I think) I have tried staying in other similar hotels (about the same rate) and they can’t bit Aqueen.

hotel is quite clean and cost-benefit for any traveller including singel, couple, business man or family. i enjoy this hotel and will be stay here again if i have my duty to visit singapore pros - room and baht room is very clean and good for all ages - room is perfectly for two or three person - baht room is quite small but enough for do everything - facilities is enough i.e. key card access to your room, touch lights, tv, silent air condition - find food and accommodation easily i.e. 24 hours cheap good at bus stop, boon tong kee restaurant open around 11am to 4am, two moderate price for buk kut tae foods - hotel is quite safe for lonely traveller cons - location is not close to mrt - taxi do not know this hotel name, but you can tell go to 'boon tong kee balastier' - anyone know this restaurant, hotel locate on the left side of boon tong kee (you are heading to boon tong kee) just 1 minute - no breakfast recommendation for transfer to mrt - can be walked to novena or toh payoh mrt in 10-20 minute but i do not recommend since you have to walk through the hospital, in the night it would be crazy for somebody not comfortable with 'alone in the dark near hospital' - taxi in busy time charging around 8$-10$ between mrt and hotel - bus number 21 or 131 to novena mrt - 10 minutes - bus number 145 to toh payoh mrt - 10 minutes

Modern 3 star hotel”
I enjoy stayed at Aqueen Balestier. I got 6th which is the highest floor and with window. I can enjoy sunshine every morning. The room is new and modern with touch panel for room light (beyond my expectation for 3 star hotel. Get a complimentary for free Wifi too.. The hotel location is surrounding by many delicious local food and near bus station.

I made a booking at Aqueen Hotel Balestier about few month prior to my arrival. Once We arrived at the Hotel the first impression is its cleanliness and warm greetings of the front desk officers. The scent of the front office area that We smell is so nice, it was relaxing and comfy. Overall, we were satisfied with the room, service, and ambience. I would go back to this hotel for my next visit to Singapore.

I love the location so much because the surrounding has so many popular local food,e.g boon tong kee, balestier food court, whampoa market (food court),bak kut teh, gui ling gao, etc. Just take 5 min walk to reach those delicacies. Bus stop is just a min walk from hotel, you can take bus 131 to novena mrt or 145 to toa payoh mrt. Since Aqueen is located at Balestier Rd, it's very easy to find taxi in front of hotel. Room size is quite small BUT you can find everything you need like chair, laptop table, tv, wardrobe, safety box, hanger, extra pillow cupboard, place for luggage or just bedside seat to enjoy window scenery and all basic amenities except refrigerator but it's not a big problem anyway. It is exactly a minimalist hotel room. Room wi-fi is no complain at all. Staffs are very helpful since they help me a lot when my S$1 coin stuck in the football game machine in the lobby area. Thank you Aqueen, i have a great stay here.

Room clean and small perfect for single or couple. near lots of restaurants and food court.if you want to try bakut teh .....this is the place....Balestier Road. Just 1 min walk to bus stop and can take you to novena mrt. Accros the street have supermarket and small mall. try to eat nasi campur and bakut teh near the bus stop...recommended. This is my favourite hotel.

Nice, clean rooms”
I stayed at Aqueen Hotel because it's the newest budget hotel in the same area (other include Value Hotel Nice and Value Hotel Balestier). I stayed in a single room. While the size is not big it is adequate. I like the free Wi-Fi and they also provide complimentary bottled water. The price is very affordable but to compensate for that, the location is not that convenient. However, if you travel mainly by taxis and buses that shouldn't be a problem.

The hotel is set on a good location, MRT station is quite far to walk, but you can catch up Bus to there, many lines infront of hotel available. Room is clean and comfortable, small does not a matter. I took only 2 nights for stay there, so next trip I shall return to AQUEEN Hotel Balestier again. Thanks

I was on a business trip to Singapore and decided to use AGODA for a survey on value for money accommodation around Balestier Road. Aqueen Hotel was high on the AGODA list on promotion and I decided to give it a try although the name doesn't sound familiar to me (unfamiliar too to the taxi driver who drove me from the airport). I did not explore/ utilise all the hotel services (e.g., the pub, etc) due to my tight business schedule during my stay. Overall, a good experience and would not mind going back to Aqueen if the value for money offer is given again.
