After travelling in various hotels over 2 weeks coming to Chequers was a delight! Lovely room, staff and the food was delicous too :)

My first complaint is against Agoda who entered wrong booking rate on arrival Room ok but external noise excessive Food average but totally overpriced Disappointed

I chose the Chequers to stay at because I much prefer places of character than simply the likes of the national hotels readily available. This is a lovely place, with lots of character and did not disappoint in that area.The staff was more than helpful and the place was very clean. I was however somewhat disappointed by the selection of food on offer from the bar, which I personally found somewhat limiting, but maybe that is just personal choice. My biggest problem however was the room itself. I received a room at the front of the hotel and it soon became obvious that if all the same, these are clearly lacking double glazing. You basically hear everything outside and during my stay there I was woken early by traffic such as the refuse collector, deliveries and early morning traffic. I do not know whether there are planing restrictions due to the age of the building etc, but I feel that an investment in double glazing is a must for these rooms and is clearly room for improvement.
Lovely stay in central location ”
Unfortunately we checked in on a Saturday and our room was directly above a private function room so music and partying kept us up until 1.30 am. But, our remaining 6 days were much quieter and very comfortable. There’s no parking so you need to pay at a local car park about 5 minutes walk away which was ok. The bar and restaurant were great and the staff pleasant. Sometimes hard to find staff about rooms as there’s no real reception desk. If you book directly breakfast is included - a better deal as that’s otherwise 10 pounds per person. Overall we really enjoyed staying here and it’s a great central location in lovely Marlow.
