City Lodge Port Elizabeth Excellent Value for Money”
I have just returned from a three night stay at the City Lodge Port Elizabeth, whilst attending the SA Society of Aaesthesiologists annual congress. Everything was fantastic with real value for money. Location is really a five minute walk to the Boardwalk Hotel and Conference Centre. Rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed. Service is very good. This is like a mini five star hotel without the five star prices. Only thing is the breakfast is expesive at R165 but the spread is very good. Still, there is only so much one can eat, and R165 is expensive, when you can get restaurant breakfasts across the road for less than half the price.

Great place to sleep and rest. Not so great if you want to stay in and have fun at the lodge but it is situated in a great location so going out to entertainment area is a 5 minutes walk.

Our main concern was our Covid security and we have been very impressed so far. We know this hotel well and it is our favorite by far in the Eastern Cape. We look forward to returning many times in the future.

Consider installing a lift for tgr top and bottom floors. In festives, provide more ice cubes. The ice machine ran out and could not keep up with the demand. Perhaps the bar should stock up more and provide guests on request. Provide a TV channel for animal lovers and gospel music.

My friend thought he was having a heart attack and I immediately ran to reception to see if anyone had First Aid. The on duty manager Adrian was walking past and immediately started assisting us. With in 15mins the ambulance had arrived and starting doing their ecgs etc. All this time Adrian was in the room assisting us and keeping an eye on things. We found this to be extremely professional, so a huge heads up to Adrian for assisting us through the process and ensuring everything was ok with one of his guests.

I salute the Security Staff that assisted us when we had a problem with our Car wow the Guy SBU since arrival showed us courtesy. He introduced us to the Handyman who used his own car assisting us . You know to be away from home knowing no one in the area but God has angels in PE City Lodge, Sbu, Richard and Eric God bless U guys !!!

Smoking”
Hotel really fantastic....to improve stop smoking in rooms (115 and 117 at least), wev could smell it in the hallways nearly every day. Will visit again.

Hotel needs upgrade”
Room is quite small compare to other City Lodges, especially bathroom. Hotel is in need of an upgrade, compare to others that have been upgraded already

Maintenance and renovation”
I have ten years experience with this facility and my first experience in still the same as nothing has changed. No need to take pictures as everything remain the same accept the change of staff. The location is so perfect but there are lot that needs to go. Firstly , the red maart on the floor and in rooms , it has become so awful that you need to open up your windows all the time as it reduces the lavel and quality of oxygen in the room. The place must be tiled Secondly ; upgrade is indeed needed in the whole facility and a new paint will do as the structure is still good. Lastly; they must stop advertising the gym facility as nothing in that room is functioning , the dumbels are like they been donated by a charity instead of them donating to a charity. Nothing in that room needs to be be there . Compliments to ; bloemfontein and Durban umhlanga city loadges. The bloemfontein city loaded is old compared to umhlanga but two years back they went through a massive reno.

Location is the best, close to all convenient tourist attractions. Seaview while enjoying breakfast or a quick walk along the beach is a great experience for kids

Surely restaurant staff”
Great hotel but a couple of service issues have been let slip. Cafe does not not offer room service and some staff (Ayanda) have a bad attitude. She sulked and tutted when we asked her for a sandwich one hour before the cafe close time. Reception staff are very accommodating.

Felt like A Dungeon”
Don't mean any offense but the room felt like a dungeon. It was really small and cramped. It also looked like the room where time stood still. Everything was old and outdated, very dreary! The room had a smell in it which improved a bit after we opened the window. I think if we fell asleep we might of died as both of our chests pulled tight during the night. Felt like I has Asthma again. I suppose this type of accommodation has its appeal to the business person who just needs to lay their head down for the night and does not care. But for anyone wanting to be on a restful holiday, perhaps consider other options.
