Overall I am very happy with the hotel. I came for a short break in London in the last minute and was very lucky to find this place with an attractive price. It's in a quite and very nice street just in the back of a busy main road. Fantastic location with shops, eateries and major transport links within a few minutes walk. The hotel and rooms are great too. Nice facilities and clean. Continental breakfast is perfect. Our double room is just about a sufficiently comfortable size, especially given its quite central London location. All the facilities in the room are very nice and there's even a mini fridge. The only small complaints I want to make are, first, the tea and coffee set has no mugs. There were only 2 glasses, which are more for brushing teeth. Second, we stayed for 2 nights, but the tea and coffee tray didn't get refilled, so I had no coffee or milk for the second day. Third, there was also no refills for the used-up toiletries in the bathroom for the second night stay. Fourth, the shower head holder was broken and can't stay on the wall. Very difficult and uncomfortable to take a shower. I'm sure the cleaner must know it, but it was left unrepaired. Other than these I would highly recommend this hotel given what I paid for.
Basic basics ”
It has a bed, a bath, toilet and breakfast. Thats about what to expect. If you expect more, you will set yourself up for disappointment. We were allocated a room in what I can describe as the basement, it's a lower level to the ground floor. There is a window, this cannot blast it completely but was not what I expected. There is no air conditioning, but fans are provided. There is a touch of humidity in the room, but opening the windows helped. The bed is two beds joined, thus have an uncomfortable seam in the middle. Then there is the subway that passes every couple of minutes that rattles you awake. But as mentioned, you can sleep and you get to see another day. The breakfast is cold, so don't expect bacon and eggs. The staff are foreign, but can communicate in English, it's just sometimes a little difficult. The cleanliness, well the place is old and maintenence doesn't seem like a priority. This was evident from the check in and having a peak behind the counter. It's messy.
Weekend in London”
Close to public transport, has a basic but decent breakfast, has luggage storage, check in process is easy, room is clean. Nothing fancy but it's got all you need for a weekend in London. Good value for money considering the prices of other London accomodations!
Blue Bell”
You get what you pay for. Third floor, steep staircase, no lift. No phone, no A/C, lumpy bed. Small room, tiny bathroom. It was clean enough. I won't book again.
Noisy rooms”
Can hear every word of conversation from rooms next door, woken up at 130am by some people arriving after a night out. Right above central line so you will also get constant rumble of trains if you are on the wrong side of building. Shower broken, heating didn’t work. Towels theadbare Will not return.
