Not bad, but not amazing either. ”
The hotel itself is nice. The breakfast was a nice spread, some of the food too salty. Unfortunately there is a terrible perfume smell that they use to scent the entire hotel. You smell it as soon as you get there or exit your room in the hallway. This reminded me of cheap old man cologne. I did comment to guest relations regarding the poor perfume choice. It was nauseating. The staff is nice, but not everyone is as nice as some of the other hotels we stayed at where everyone smiled and says hello. Some people here have a RBF that is unwelcoming. Front reception staff and guest relations were good service. The food at the mezza restaurant was not that great and expensive and definitely not worth the money. Thankfully the next day guest relations recommended we go into town and just a short walk in to the Main Street there is a restaurant called Al masry which was more than half the price and amazing great value for Egyptian food. They speak English there. The bazaar just near where the boat drops you off is beautiful and relaxed. There is a Nubian boy at the dock that offered some Nubian food and tour by boat. Wish we had booked with him rather than our tour company. He seemed very nice. Overall we had a good experience here. Unfortunately There aren’t many better options in town other than the very expensive Old Cataract hotel. We would prefer a steigenberg experience but there isn’t any in town. One thing is we did respuest a change in views as our first room faced the city and the other view of the Nile was better. They quickly changed our rooms which we really appreciated. I don’t know why they wouldn’t just put anyone facing the other side. They have a room heater and AC here which was nice because at night it gets cold.

Everything is excellent. But there's no other restaurant except the resort ones on the island. You need to take a ferry to Aswan main to visit or do other things. The ferry is usually quite convenient though.

This was a surprise. Luxurious facilities, and attentive staff who consistently went out of their way to make everything work. Beautiful and we felt very safe. Wonderful restaurants, we ate at Orangerie, Mezze, and Elephantine. Waterways active with picturesque boating.
