I'll be completely honest, it's not a resort or a guesthouse; it's primarily a Buddhist retreat so don't expect any resorty or guesthousey things. Also, lots of crazy dogs around: LOTS. I HIGHLY recommend you bring some pepper spray or mace, because I didn't think we'd need it, but we did. The owner is doing her best and does try to make you feel welcome. The food provided is amazing Thai food and at a reasonable price. There are simply too many crazy dogs around for this place to make you feel welcome or at home in any way. Also, getting there is kind of tricky but a fun experience if you're on a moto. The waterfall nearby is well worth a visit; bring some beers, swim, hang out. It's nice. No electricity, or if there is, it's run on a battery for short bursts at a time. Very hot in the bungalows, so beware, if you're allergic to extreme heat; reminded me of the "punishment box" in the film Bridge Over River Kwai. So... the location is amazing, the dog situation (in all the local farms around) is bad, and overall left us with sort of a "hmm" experience. Just doesn't seem to be very honest, calling it a resort when in fact it's something else. Kind of reminds me of classic developing country double-dipping mentality. Oh well. When I own my own Buddhist retreat/dog-farm, I can do whatever I want as well :)

My wife and I had a wonderful time. Ant, the owner, made us feel at home and provided great company. He speaks fluent English as does his mom who helped us find our way late at night to their grounds. I highly recommend if you have your own transportation. It is very close to National Parks, Hellfire Pass, and they even have their own cool waterfall right next door!

perfect getaway from stressful life in the city”
We were a group of four who went to My Rose Valley Resort to spend the New Year ’s Eve. We stayed in a cute hut and there are common restrooms close to the huts. The foods were great and cheap. The room/hut accommodation rates are affordable a 20-30 minutes ride from downtown Kanchanaburi. Aside the quiet and fresh breeze of the surrounding valleys this Rose Valley is a solar powered resort. So during daytime there’s no power only at nighttime. If you are interested to go hiking or mountain climbing you may try Phalad Waterfalls just newly discovered in the area. This resort is really a perfect getaway from a stressful life in the city to re-charge yourself and enjoy the beauty of nature given by God to mankind.

We really wanted to love this place. We spent a few days at another resort in kanchanaburi that we loved, but thought MRV sounded like a unique resort. It was, but not in the way we expected. The resort is located about 40 minutes outside of the city. The price of the taxi ride was more than we were paying for the hotel. We were surprised to find that all of the huts and the entire camping area was situated immediately on top of or directly next to a dam. This did mean that we had the sound of running water to lull us to sleep, but it didn't really help with the overall atmosphere. Our hut was simple - no fan or AC - but we were comfortable and enjoyed sitting on our small deck and reading. It was clean and included a mosquito net. There is a light and electrical outlet, but the electricity was never turned on, so we couldn't take advantage of either. The bathrooms are communal but didn't have flushing toilets or a shower. There was a trough of water that was meant to be used for showering and also flushing. The sinks didn't work when we tried to use them, so we weren't able to wash our hands. There is a kitchen and eating area, but whenever we asked for food, the staff seemed a bit surprised/annoyed. For a local Thai family that can bring their own food/cooking utensils, this wouldn't be a problem. We had to rely on the resort for all of our meals. Because of the location of the resort, there is really not a lot to do nearby/within walking distance. There is a waterfall just a few meters down the road. Getting to the base of the waterfall was a short and easy hike, though continuing on past there requires extensive rock scrambling, climbing up the waterfall with the use of a rope, etc. For those who chose to try it, we strongly suggest taking off your shoes once you get past the first pool. Hiking barefoot was a bit more painful, but shoes made the trek much more difficult and dangerous.

an oasis set apart from kanchanaburi”
the owner, is an amazing woman who does her best to ensure that your stay is absolutely perfect. i travelled with two friends and we stayed in the three-person bungalow. it was ideal as we wanted to visit erawan falls during the day and use the resort as a place to crash. we were surprised at the amazing beauty of the resort; it's set amidst rice fields and next to a dam. the mountains serve as a lovely backdrop in which to awaken to. we ended up extending our stay by another night because rose told us about phalad waterfall, an apparently unseen sight of thailand. a short walk from the resort, it's better than erawan falls. it was essentially deserted and there wasn't really a path to go up to all seven tiers, so we literally climbed the waterfalls. it was the best experience that i've had in thailand yet, and i hope to visit rose and her resort again soon. just keep in mind that the resort is 40 km outside of kanchanaburi, so once you're at the resort, it's difficult to get back into town.

เป็นโรงแรมที่เพิ่งสร้างไม่นาน ลักษณะเป็นบ้านพักหลังๆ มุงจาก ไม่มีห้องน้ำในตัว ไม่มีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวก เช่นทีวี พัดลม ตอนกลางคืนจะใช้ไฟฟ้าจากแบตเตอร์รี่ เน้นความเป็นธรรมชาติ โรงแรมอยู่ใกล้นำตกผาลาด ซึ่งเข้าใจว่าเป็นน้ำตกที่ยังไม่มีคนเข้าไปเที่ยวมาก ยังไม่มีแผนที่ใน google map (เกือบหลงทาง) สามารถเดินจากโรงแรมไปที่น้ำตกได้ไม่ไกล เหมาะกับนักท่องเที่ยวเชิงนิเวศน์ ชอบธรรมชาติ บรรยากาศดี เงียบ ห้องพักราคาถูกไม่แพง แต่รายการอาหารที่ทางโรงแรมมีให้อาจไม่มีมากนัก หากมาพักควรเตรียมพวกบาร์บีคิว มาทำเองจะดีมาก เจ้าของเป็นกันเองดีครับ โดยรวมเหมาะกับนักท่องเที่ยวที่ชอบลุยๆ หน่อยครับ สำหรับคนสูงอายุอาจจะไม่เหมาะเท่าไหร่ครับ
