We spent our last night on Victoria trip at this hotel which was valentine ... they put bathtub/ shower as in room facility ... and we we got the room we called to ask why it was only shower no tub? The staff wasn’t care and said it was Agoda fault not even sorry and hangup ... from the voice that could be assistance manager who check us in. Don’t expect so much service from this hotel... the room aren’t nice ... overpriced for money and service really disappointed. For a price and hotel star... this hotel could offer more and can be a lot better.
The second time we have stayed the Rendezvous, and really love the location. The rooms are clean and beds comfy. The biggest disappointment is the bar, it could be so much better. Service was average, we were there for the tennis, and even though Melbourne was alive, this bar just had no atmosphere, and also a preety poor beer selection. Having said that , I'd still recommend the hotel as there are plenty of places in the city to go for a drink. It's just nice to have a nightcap at your hotel sometimes.
Long wait time during chk - in ”
Busy hotel and had to wait for a really long time before we went chked-in. Our room was not ready so hotel offered to bring our bags to our room while we go out to grab lunch. When we returned, we realized our luggage were missing and another guest’s luggage was in our room. After some time at last it got sorted! They offered a bottle of wine as a token of gdwill for all the boo-boo. Overall, service can be improved.
The property is well-situated. This along with the USD110 per night rate were the main selling points. Stepping out of the property, when you look slightly to your left you can already see Flinder Street Station which is one of the city's iconic landmarks - and it is beautiful. Around the corner on Elizabeth street, there's a 711 and 24/7 fast food chains; it's also walking distance from arguably the best coffee I tasted in AU - from Walker's Donuts. Flinder Street itself especially the block where this hotel sits isn't really the cleanest one (there were some vagrants hanging out in the area). I rated the staff 4/5 because of 2 instances where I felt the staff could have treated us better - nothing major. If the management needs more info, please feel free to contact me.
The room with Yarra river view was very nice, although the room was small and no arm chair. The comfortable bed, the good location and value for money. We will stay again. One staff was excellent, very polite and helpful with a smile, shame one other staff was arrogant and cold.
Worse night ever”
The hotel is nice and comfy room, but was absolutely noisy and the room was stinky, i asked to change the room but they didn't care. During the night came an absolutely disgusting smell, like an open sewer, i tried to ventilate the room but the smell was everywhere, i couldn't sleep at all so i had to get out for a walk just to be able to breath. We left first thing in the morning. Smell was unbearable to sleep, it ruined our night.
Good price, good position, good weekend.”
We two have just spent a very happy weekend at the Rendezvous Hotel. Situated right in the CBD; almost opposite Flinders Street Station, (Melbourne's central railway station), and with access to the excellent tramway system, this is an great base for exploring either Melbourne city or surrounds. Very good coffee and meals can be found in Degraves Street, a three minute walk north of the hotel; five minutes to the west the joys Melbourne's retail district really open up. The Rendezvous was once the Commercial Travellers Club and the beautiful early 20th century foyer, lounge and bar areas add a charming ambience to the place. The room we had was adequate in size for a weekend and obviously well maintained. Staff are very friendly and helpful. A basic bistro style restaurant offers three meals daily and the bar is a very attractive spot for a drink. With many great eateries, bars and Melbourne's theatres also within easy walking distance, I highly recommend you go exploring.
Close to station, freeway and walking distance to plenty. Room was great, we were uograded to Heritage room and it was lovely, huge ceilings, lovely headlight, toiletries were plentiful, bed big and comfy. Artwork in the halls were interesting. We had room 237 on 2nd floor no noise issues at all. There was no view but that was ok, wasn't there to look outside. Definately would stay again.
Very very noisy.”
Because this is right in the heart of Melbourne. Teams trains bars. We stayed 3 nights wish we hadn't. We also stayed at another hotel in the city on arrival no noise. I feel like I didn't sleep for 3 nights.
I totally loved this hotel! It reminded me of the Edison Hotel in New York with its 20's style art deco!. Next time I stay (and I will) I'm going to upgrade to the Heritage rooms. Go to the Travellers Bar for a drink and enjoy the leather seats. Our room was lovely, had everything I needed except for a view. The view was of the building next door but as I was only there for a couple of nights, I wasn't bothered. The bathroom was also quite small, but good pressure and amenities. The best welcome was from Conner on the night shift. We got in at midnight and he was very friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great stay and see you next time!
The rooms were a bit run down.
Awesome historic place ”
Great staff and helpful
Near to everywhere”
The hotel is convenience, near to everywhere. Although the price is a bit expensive. However the staff are very great, allow us for early check in where we are already tired when we arrived hotel. May stay again.
Overall are good service and value for money. ”
As I’ve commented in earlier review. Took quite some time to look for my luggage. But in the end managed to get it back where the staff store it in the inner side of the store room. Overall. Nice and good deal and service. Cheers
Good service and location ”
I give staff three stars. My laggages were almost MIA. Just because of lack of communication among the staffs. Luckily in the end managed to get my laggage back which stored in the inner space of the store room. Overall it’s a good trip and hotel.
Great location close to everything with really nice comfy bed and bath/shower combo which was nice. TV remote didn't work when I went in but I called reception and they had someone up straight away to fix it. Very friendly staff and clean comfy rooms.
Wasn't the most pleasant place I've stayed in”
Usually I'm not too fussy about where I stay, and especially not if I'm just looking for a place to crash (after having had my flight cancelled unexpectedly that morning). Booked this hotel which was closest to where I had been staying, hoping to check in earlier, but the staff did not allow for early check-ins with my situation. I was also unpleasantly surprised to find no microwave oven in the hotel room, nor would they assist with heating up some instant noodles I had. Perhaps it's just the unfortunate circumstances of that day, but my few interactions with the staff has left me with unpleasant memories of this hotel.
Historic Hotel doesn't deserve old fashioned practices”
This hotel is well located and the room, while small, was nice and quiet and more than sufficient. The hotel's history makes it intersting and means it has a story to tell. It's shame that two significant let downs mean that I am unlikely to return. 1) I ordered a King Bed but what I got was two single beds pushed together (a practice the check-out attendant told me was "standard"). This made for a very uncomfortable night's sleep as everytime I moved I began to sink between the mattresses. 2) Why oh why do hotels, in 2019, continue to want people to pay extra for internet access? This hotel gave some access (slow limited speed) and wanted me to pay more for better access. I'd rather you make me pay for the instant coffee! This outdated practice would, alone, be enough to make me not want to return to this hotel. It is a shame about these two issues, as otherwise this would be an eminently recommendable.
Loved our stay here. Only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. Such a great suite in a fabulous location. Our one night here made us feel soo relaxed after a mad wedding rush. We are already looking forward to a return visit sometime soon!
Booked one night at this hotel for the Run Melbourne event this year. Perfect location as it's a 5 minute walk to Federation Square and the start line. We stayed on the other side of the hotel than what we have the previous two times and seemed to be more modern. The bathroom was larger.
