We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!. ”
For such a small community in a secluded part of Australia, the Ayres Rock Resort and specifically Sails were in all honesty one of the most comfortable and enjoyable experiences we’ve had as a family!! Everyone and everything was faultless. Thank you!!
What I imagined the Australian outback would be”
I know it is hot but it was quite warm in the restaurant and lobby area not sure you can help the heat.
Luxury in the desert ”
Stayed 3 nights in November and loved this resort. An oasis in this hot dusty desert setting. Great pool and pool bar. 15 minutes from Uluru with lots to do inside this resort. Camel rides and many different and interesting tours available also. Enjoyed our stay immensely at Uluru.
Nice hotel & facilities . Room was looking a little tired. Toilet wouldn’t flush properly and annoying phone message light couldn’t be extinguished despite several requests to staff. Good food, good facilities, happy smiling staff. Bar service was slow on a couple of occasions as we were left “hanging”More priority on customer should be the focus . Everyone appeared busy being busy but not so customer priority. That’s all . Thanks.
Mostly satisfying time at Yulara”
The first room we were given looked out onto a 2x2.5m fire hydrant building/ kiosk which obstructed our view. When we asked to be moved they kindly moved us to a room looking out onto the desert. The pool was supposed to be heated but we found it quite cool. The buffet dinner was excellent but at $70 a head plus $48 for a bottle of average wine it might be considered expensive. We travelled with friends but there was nowhere on the booking form for us to indicate we'd like rooms near each other. The staff were excellent, especially the ones on reception who gave us helpful suggestions on things to do and see.
Overpriced standard hotel”
We've stayed in many hotels and for such a pricey hotel you could expect more. The room was spacious and clean (all fine with that) but the hotel doesn't have a 5 star feel. Exterior needs some renovation and a bit flair. Fresh water in your room should be complementary, too. Breakfast buffet was 39 aud per person with an extra charge for a flat white. There is no competition in this town, so they can charge with ever they like... Would suggest you go to the Gardens by the Desert hotel for a dip. They've got a salt pool and some trees which provide some shade.
luxury in the heart of the desert”
our family went there on a short break to get a sense of what it is like in the centre of Australia. We had to fly in and fly out in a matter of days , so it was a great way to be there for a short stay. Everything about the place is lovely. The desert country and local people are inspiring. Importantly if you go there - please listen to the wishes of the traditional owners adn dont climb Uluru! It is sacred.
my stay at the resort was just fabulous... my room plus facilities was excellent, staff very courteous, gorgeous surrounds and a great holiday . experience. would most definitely holiday there again.
A wonderful place to come home to.”
Enjoyed our stay which was made all the better by the attentive staff. The one thing that requires immediate attention is a revamp of the swimming pool - it needs to be repainted/resurfaced as there is obvious corrosion.
Loved the place, great part of Australia ”
Excellent friendly staff, bus availability, just a great location ,
Only other choice is camping.”
Sails in the Desert is very expensive, but the only other choice is to camp out in a tent or caravan. It is a 6 hour drive from Alice Springs for us folks that like to self-guide. Having said that, the resort itself is in very good shape. Responsive staff, excellent service, several eating choices, and comfortable beds. Dinnertime can be crowded at restaurants so book early. Petrol is expensive going for $2.15 per liter in July 2018 at the only station near Uluru.
I travelled with my sister to Uluru and we both enjoyed our stay at the Sales in the Desert and agreed we could find no fault with the place, location , staff or facilities. We loved it and our room was exactly as the brochure showed which is not always the case. We would certainly recommend this place.
The room could have been vacuumed a bit better. The tap in the bathroom was too short for the basin, it only reached to the side of the basin. The outside light did not work. Although we turned the air conditioner off, there seemed to be an automatic one in the bathroom, which made the room too hot during the night.
Great place to stay to visit the centre of Australia. Friendly staff and good food.
Uluru is a beautiful place with a deep history. Sails in the Desert is the best of the accommodations that is offered in the middle of nowhere. However, don’t expect a 5-star facility for the money. For AU$500 ($360 US) per night you will get an okay.room but no view or any aminities. Everything is extra and expensive. One bright spot was the dinner buffet at the Ssils, although expensive AU$75 per person, it was worth it due to very high quality and variety.
Good hotel for lack of other options when visiting Uluru”
This hotel is far from luxury. Very large and dated facilities. Rooms resemble more of a big 3 star american hotel. Pool was dirty. Very poor dining options. Good location for visiting Uluru but not worth the money for anything else.
Nice place to stay for Ayers Rock”
Pros : location, staff, ease of eating and shopping in the whole resort knowing it was put onto your bill on checking out of your particular hotel. Cons: Our ac wasn't working and was fixed twice so we had a fan in the room - in 40 degree heat. Our room also wasn't cleaned on our second day in the resort, not a biggie, but I requested it cleaned the next day. It was done immediately though. As expected it was pricey, but we knew this when we booked. Restaurant and food quality was very good. The room was nice, but after seeing reception I expected more.
The pool needs a sail over it especially in summer time when the temperature is 40 + in the middle of the day. We thought it was funny that the resort is call sails of the desert and there sails everywhere except over the pool during the summer.
Good hotel but not cheap.”
Good clean hotel with friendly helpful staff but not cheap. Centrally located so very convenient. The most irritating thing is the constant marketing e-mails by Agoda ever since we made this booking. Would highly recommend opting out of mail from Agoda.
Best adventure with my Mum”
Wow, this place is fantastic. Had the best stay with my Mum and enjoyed a great cultural experience. The sunrise, sunsets, the lights the food the rocks and great hospitality was delightful. I'll be back. ❤️
