Family friendly”
We love to visit Erie especially during the Erie Days festival! We had called to ask for connecting room for us and our daughter and sil and their 2 yr. old. upon arrival we were told there were no connecting rooms only side by side. we were going into the rooms when we encountered the manager and he went searching and found us connecting rooms on another floor! he was very accommodating and the staff was very friendly. we will definitely stay there again!

Okay but with issues”
The hotel is a bit older, so it could use some updates. But my main issue was with noise, not inside the hotel, but on the street outside where motorcycle drag races were going on until almost 2 AM on my first night (Friday). Thankfully, they did not repeat on Saturday or Sunday nights. Also, the in-room coffee maker was broken; the toilet would not refill after a flush without cycling the water valve. In spite of these things, the bed was very comfortable and I liked the parking garage arrangement. On the negative side, when I checked in, they inadvertently assigned a room to me that was already occupied. Oops! So, a mixed bag, but overall I’ve been in worse hotels.
Hello Gerald, Thank you for review and your business, sorry about some hickups, it is downtown and we have not control over what is happening out side but 100% agree with you about noise. City of Erie and local resident must come up with noise ordinence to stop motor riders to stop disturbing neighbourhood. must come up. Hopefully it happens soon. Thank you, please visit us again Management, RD

thermostat on wall was useless and room was very hot. Put stat at 69 and temp still never got below 75 at night. Excuse we got from maintenance was that it was due to it being too cold outside so only warm air blows from units. Never heard of such a thing..i work in a telecomm building where our AC units blow extremely cold air to cool a server farm-telco building at well below freezing temps outside. For the money they charge for rooms they should upgrade their HVAC system. Also, no clean towels were brought the second day. Would have re-used my towel from 1st day but it was taken off the door hook, with no replacements left.
Thank you for your feedback David. To clear up the situation, we run on a two way HVAC system which is pretty standard for hotels and other buildings of similar capacity. With this system, the entire hotel is either in AC or heat mode. Unfortunately only one system can be on at once. Therefore, based on the temperatures outside and government guidelines, we do our best to set the hotel in the best mode that can satisfy the majority of guests. Anytime it drops below 50 outside we always offer heat to the guests. Often times in those in between months when the weather is changing this can be tricky as some people are cold some are hot. We cant always please everyones temperature requirements but we certainly do our best to make sure everyone is comfortable. My guess would be that we put the heat on due to the chilly temperatures outside. If that is the case, if you had your thermostat fan turned on, it would have been blowing hot air into your room with no AC available at that time.
Charming”
The Avalon is something of a relic from the past. It’s a beautiful hotel with clean and cozy rooms and friendly staff. The parking garage lets you go straight to the elevator up to the room so it’s very private and lovely.
Karrin, Thank you for taking the time to review our property. Our staff loves to hear when a guest leaves with a smile on their face, it makes our hard work very much worth it! Thank you again & we hope to see you again. -Rikki/Management
Great Location but dirty”
Hotel was ok. I was there for a cheer competition. Hotel badly needs a makeover. Free parking was great. Front desk was great and accommodating with my late checkout request. BUT- rooms were filthy. There were old smooshed pretzels under my bed, a thick layer of dust under dresser, windowsills filthy. No blankets on beds, stinky obviously not washed blankets in a drawer. I am not one to usually complain or even notice this but it was just TOO dirty esp in these covid times- looks like it had not been cleaned well in years at least. One family left and went to another hotel. They REALLY need to clean better but all in all it was ok. I would not stay there again though.
We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback Terry. We sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced while staying here. We are always working on bettering our staff and providing the best training to ensure a clean and safe environment for our guests. That being said, your review was shared with our housekeeping staff to better themselves and take pride in the quality of their work going forward. We hope you may reconsider staying with us again in the future.
