A lovely place to be”
We stayed here for one night only, unfortunately our train was delayed considerably so we didn’t manage to appreciate the Spa. However we were welcomed by pleasant staff and received an upgrade on our room. What a lovely room(executive) nice decor and roomy enough for us. Huge bed with luxurious soft sheets and the all marble bathroom was classy. (Mind the step in and out of the high sided bath though!) Possibly a hand grip/handle would help here for confidence. We had drinks in the sophisticated main bar where we were attended well by waiting staff. A vibrant, welcoming feeling with piano playing in the corner. A great nights sleep was had and struggled to get up for breakfast. We were glad we did though, a fabulous choice on the cooked menu, which is served to your table and also on the cold buffet style selection. The whole hotel oozes style and a subtle Scottish undertone ensures you know you are in Edinburgh. Check out was easy with concierge calling us a cab. We will be back.

We have visited on more than one occasion and was fortunate to visit the One Restaurant a must if you like tasting menus, the general bar is fab with fab service and the whisky bar is a must, the staff make the stay even better😇

Spending a special anniversary at the hotel. The best location and the best hotel bar ever. All the staff so helpful and courteous. If you like whisky see Cameron in the Whisky Bar, and experience in itself. We will be back!!

Excellent service, despite wired room experience ”
Pros: excellent service especially the front desk; good selection of breakfast; supreme location with walking distance to everything and next door to the train station. Cons: 1) We submitted our room request via Agoda booking and somehow the message was not shared with the hotel. We are arranged with a temporary room and have to wait extra time for our room to be ready. 2) Our room was prepared in rush, since there was left-over item from previous guest, no welcome sweeties nor turn down service. The room is on top floor and facing the street, the window can’t be sealed, definitely not soundproof. It was cold and noisy at night. We asked for a portable warmer as the toilet is freezing, but didn’t get it at all. The second night was worse. We firstly found out that there is no shampoo/conditioner refill in our room and have to call house keeping to deliver; then the construction noise came from the street lasted whole night until 6 or 7am, we had to call front desk at 1:30am and got two pairs of earplugs. Barely no sleep. Next morning, the front desk helped us switched to a quieter room and I do appreciate their help on this matter. 3) For those traveling with senior family members - the bathtub is extremely high to reach and harder to get out after shower if you are not flexible enough; and the lift to spa is broken for a while, very steep and long stairs to get down there.
