Spectacular view of the city”
I stayed here for my first time in Kuching. I specifically chose this place because of the location, view and its charm. The lodge offers a history that will fascinate travellers. I love the simple breakfast of toasts with butter, jam or peanut butter alongside coffee/tea. You can even have orange juice and two choices of cereals. It may be the same on the daily but we love it. The room that we stayed in have its own bathroom equipped with hot heater and Aircon. They also provided packets of tea, coffee and sugar and bottled water which are provided every day. We always ask to makeup room so we got to have our clean. Every morning when we went for breakfast, we would walk down the steep majestic stairs and definitely got our warm up exercises when getting up to our room on the first floor. The lodge has a second floor too. Every common room of the lodge has its own charm either decorated with antiques or ornaments. A view of the iconic landmark of Kuching can be seen even from the first floor. If you plan to catch the fountain lights at night you can view from Marian. It's just a minute walk away to the waterfront where you can take the road that would lead you to Borneo Delight cafe which has a range of local dishes. This is a must try. Laksa was really good. Marian also has Granary Kitchen if you wouldn't want to walk far to have lunch or dinner. They have both local and western cuisines on the menu. Must try too. All in all, I had a great stay here and would definitely come to stay here again when I visit Kuching. Check in/out was no hassle as well. The place is great for couples and singles. Thank you Marian.
Lovely and unique hotel”
A historic hotel which is so conveniently located near the Kuching Waterfront and CBD. Everything is within walking distance. Room is comfortable enough for the price, but since it's a refurbished wooden building soundproofing is almost nonexistent. If you're a light sleeper this might not be the best. I found it helpful to have a pair of earplugs (can request from reception) but it can be a bit bothersome if you plan on staying in your room most of the time. Fortunately Kuching has lots to offer and you don't need to just stay in your room - go explore!
Beautiful but unclean ”
I got a corner room facing the pool together with a terrace to enjoy the view. Got free make-your-own breakfast at the entrance, until 10am if not mistaken. Beautiful room but not clean. Very dusty with cobwebs around. They should've clean the room first before guest checks in. Got 2 rooms at the time and both rooms are very dusty. Parking for guest is from St Thomas' church, gate open early morning & close around 11pm. An alternate entrance is next to Kantin but parking will be by the road side. Nearby Carpenter Street & waterfront, so it's easy to walk around. No lift, only got staircase (not recommended for ppl with leg problems/elderly/wheelchaired). No tv, got hairdryer, got shower gel, towels provided, air-conditioned.
Beautiful Place, Amazing Location”
Pros: 1. The location is King, it is situated right at the heart of Kuching City and a walking distance to everywhere; from Waterfront to Darul Hana Bridge. 2. They don't provide breakfast but there are a lot of good eateries around the hotel, including Kitchen by the Granary, an in-house restaurant situated right in the vicinity of the hotel. 3. Beautiful aesthetic. For history buffs, you would love this hotel's former life. Cons: 1. Their private parking is very limited. 2. Generally clean but I think it is time to replace some of the blankets and towels, esp ones with very visible stains. 3. Amenities are not provided, only shower gel. That aside, I would like it if the management can provide more hangers as well as hooks for hanging things. Also, it'll be
استثنائيّ”
The Marion is a beautiful hotel. It has so much character and charm. It’s a repurposed mansion. Pros: 1. Rooms size is adequate, I loved the washrooms, they were very spacious and trendy. The rooms do not have a television which was okay for us because we were out the whole time. 2. We also liked the lounge and common area. 3. They also provided a simple breakfast with toast, cereal, coffee ,tea and juice which we appreciated. 4. The hotel was walking distance to the waterfront and just a stones throw from carpenter street. 5. The parking was hidden within the church compounds so safety was not an issue. 6. The reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful Cons: 1. the amount of stairs you’d have to climb up and down each time you want to go out. If physical activity or climbing stairs bothers you then I wouldn’t recommend this place. 2. Room walls are thin so you can hear everything that goes on. One of the nights we stayed there. Family with very noisy teenagers checked in. We found it a little difficult to sleep/relax.
