“Love this hotel and the people”
Our first trip to Surabaya. This hotel is within walking distance to mall. Checking in was fast, staff were SUPER SUPER Pleasant, friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and big. Room was very very clean, plenty of cupboard space and space to place lugggages. Comes with king bed, tv, fridge, work desk, beverage corner with coffee/tea and drinking water, safe, an armed chair. Washroom is standard sized, clean and comes with basic amenities such as toothbrus, body wash, shampoo etc. The chilled tea in the fridge is complementary and they will top up daily. Loving it!!! Breakfast was vast and the menus was a lot. Restaurant staff were super helpful, friendly and pleasant. In fact all the staff that we encountered, including housekeeping and security were very pleasant and they made our stay felt very comfortable. We opted for a non-smoking level, unfortunately, there were a group that was having an event at the hotel and was staying in the hotel that was smoking in their room at the same level. We went to report to front desk and they are proactive and take the neccessary actions to stop them. The same group had booked multiple rooms at different levels, so during the few days of the event held in the hotel, it was very challenging to get the lifts. All lifts are full and sometimes doesnt even goes to the level that you start from. The people from lower floors will get onto the lifts to go up before going down to the ballroom level or ground level. This causes those, like us staying on the higher levels, unable enter the lift. During these few days too, it was difficult to get a seat at the restaurant for breakfast as its always full from opening till closing. with many of them chose to sit at the tables despite having finished their breakfast just to catch up and chat. Didnt even bothered about others who want to eat breakfast. Thankfully, the staff are helpful and find us a place. A bit a turn off when these groups used their hands, instead of utensils provided to grab the food from the buffet. Some cough onto the food. Sometimes, I really wished these tourists (locals/foreign) practiced better social manners. At restaurant, we all want to eat food, not eat and get sick when you cough onto the food, or touched the food with your dirty hands. Knowing Surabaya is very hot, I wished also that people at least shower or put on perfume/deodorant before going for breakfast. We sat beside a tourist from China, and we had to change place, as his clothing reeks the strong smell of sweat and he was coughing loudly and openly. Whilst the stay, the staff, the room, the restaurant was great, ultimately it was the other patrons of the hotel that destroyed the memories of the stay. I will still return back to this hotel because of its beautiful staff and comfortable rooms.
