You'll Not Be Disappointed”
Beautiful location! The art deco theme of the hotel and town really make this place special. Love the balcony which leads to a courtyard overlooking the ocean. Staff were friendly and helpful, little more communication between them would help. Would recommend researching restaurants before travelling and booking in advance, even in quiet periods. Go to the museum, well worth it!
A hotel with great character ”
If you’re going to stay in the Art Deco city of Napier, there’s no better hotel to stay. I had the single room, which although quite small, had everything I needed. Breakfast was great. I presonally enjoyed the choices on the a la Carter menu over the buffet. Would stay there again if I were to visit Napier again.
Have stayed here several times. It’s a great place with Art Deco ambience. ”
Elegant and comfortable rooms. Great bathroom. Nice bar and restaurant. The Art Deco interior is something special to enjoy.
Nice hotel in great position. Our art deco suite was quirky & really cool. Highly recommend this hotel if visiting Napier.
Absolutely gorgeous hotel, great art deco detail. ”
Expensive for the lack of facilities but a beautiful place to stay
Convenient Location ”
Right by the beach and in the heart of the town. Our room was very small and even with minimal luggage we felt it was better suited to one person as opposed to two adults. It was nicely decorated, and clean, but just very tight on space. The other downside was that the parking was two blocks away from the hotel and is limited.
a quaint boutique hotel (2 storey) rooms upgraded to current styles.Opposite beach and retail areas.”
staff helpful and breakfast adequate.Restaurant menu good. All good quality accessories, shampoo, robes etc.Unlike our stay at Star City Auckland where little creature comforts were minimal at best and rooms were tired and well past use by date and overpriced
Art Deco Heaven”
This wonderful example of Art Deco architecture is situated in the Art Deco Quarter of Napier which has preserved these superb buildings. The hotel facilities are very good and the staff are friendly and efficient. If you love Art Deco this is the place to stay and if you don't, you will do!
Beautiful hotel but some issues with information”
Art Deco Masonic Hotel can't be faulted on style: it's beautiful from the outside through to the inside, with attention to detail that makes a difference to the experience. It's also in the perfect location: on the coast road (no sea view though) in the centre of town. Our room (a Superior King Room) was smaller than I expected, thanks to clever photography on the website, but it was big enough and well-designed to optimise the space. This included the bathroom, which had a spacious shower cubicle. The bed was really comfy and difficult to leave! It was also well-equipped, including an iron and the usual tea / coffee making facilities. We enjoyed spending time in The Emporium and had the buffet breakfast there on our second morning: it was a simple selection but good value compared to a la carte and tasty. Shame I'd messed up and thought the room came with breakfast though, as it made the stay pricier than expected. The only issue was regarding parking and check-in. I hadn't seen anything about paying for parking when booking so was surprised to get the email from them the day before. I was more surprised not to get reply to my response and queries (though I now realise it's maybe because I replied to the email that came through Agoda, rather than sending a direct message), so when we turned up we had no idea where to park to unload the bags and this put a strain on our arrival, which wasn't helped by the person on reception, who wasn't very warm (other staff were). Luckily there was a parking space left, but some information about where you can stop to unload / get your parking space details would really help in the pre-arrival email.
Excellent location with great restaurant & bar”
We stayed one night New Years Eve and our stay was excellent. Car Parking is not available at the Hotel bur close by in Car Park reserved spaces. The room was spacious clean, large windows and bright/airy. Sat outside the hotel and had dinner/drinks and could listen/see the New Year fesitivies going on in the soundshell/park across the road. Food and Wine selection is excellent and reasonably priced. Did a significant amount of shopping and the hotel being centrally located made this so easy. Hotel is also opposite both Napier Museums. We would definitely stay there again
Pretty and comfortable stay”
Currently, there's road works in front of the hotel so there isn’t much view to see. Upgraded to renovated wing มr buffet breakfast is good and reasonable. $15 for daily parking. Their car park is a short distance away where a public all-day parking for $6 is just beside it. Hence, don't suggest you to get hotel car park during low peak seasons. They provide floral-designed tea cups beside the usual mugs and stuff, nice but weird as there is no compatible teapot to match with.
Unique accomodation with lots of charm”
Loved the location and the atmosphere of the building. Room was in good shape and relatively clean. Would recommend upgrading pillows as they made for a restless sleep. Was not pleased with additional 2% fee to pay with credit card after charging dinner to our room. Had we known ahead of time, we would have paid for the dinner at the restaurant to avoid the charge. Guests should be informed ahead of time of this charge or it should be built into pricing of the rooms.
Great weekend stay”
Perfect location, nice room, friendly staff
Good even though there’s lack of facilities”
The room was clean and the building is stunning. If you are after a hotel that has full facilities like pool and gym, you will have to seek elsewhere.
Love the hotel, great rooms and a fantastic bar/restaurant. We would stay again
Beautiful hotel, comfortable bed, nicely decorated. The restaurant has great food and assortment of wines. The rooms are small but that is probably the age of the hotel.
I love this hotel”
Love the art deco period and so wonderful to stay here. Can't wait to return.
Love this Hotel”
Really enjoyed the stay here and can't wait to return.
Amazing accommodation! ”
Absolutely loved this place. So central to everything in Napier, right on the beach. Great facilities in the hotel with an huge comfortable bed. The restaurant and pub attached to the hotel are both great as well. Small touches like daily weather updates and paper just made it such a nice place to stay. Highly recommend !
Brilliant Art Deco experiencez”
Loved it! We arrived at the end of the yearly Art Deco celebration weekend. Many people were dressed up 1920-30’s style and tiki touring around in old cars. It really added to the atmosphere of the Masonic Hotel. The front bar is beautifully styled and there was a band in the Irish pub out the back, not bad for a Sunday night. Food was quick and tasty - the chef is renouned for his lamb NZ wide. Staff paid our parking meter for us so we didn’t have to get up in the morning - little things go a long way, thank you. Room was small but perfect, everything well considered. We would highly recommend this as a place to stay!
