Budget hotel in good location”
This hotel is in the central location of the old city and convenient for walking and shopping. Good local bars and eateries nearby.
The cheapest option for the price”
This is a budget hotel and so you shouldn't expect much although I did expect more than I got. Portuguese speaking only. The wifi was good. The hotel is relatively close to the metro and airport bus. The area is relatively safe for Sao Paolo but I wouldn't say that it was safe. Sao Paolo isn't safe relatively speaking although I didn't have any trouble myself. There are a few bars nearby and they seem like ok places for midrange to budget places. Food wise nothing I tried on the streets nearby is worth recommending. The rooms are quite big and the building is a crumbling beauty but the walls are dirty and the place is clearly uncared for. Locks on the doors are shabby and not fully repaired from previous accidents / break-ins. There are daily cleaners who tidy the room, wash the floors etc who do an adequate job with what they have. The problem is the management / owner doesn't care for the place. He/she should inspect each room and ask the cleaners to wash away dirt and stains on the walls. To wipe down the wall on the head of the bed so that you don’t see the grease and sweat from multiple guests. The management are the problem in this hotel. They are not friendly, not helpful, and see the place as a mule that they will work to death and beat until it dies. Its halfway dead as it is. I arrived with friends who were travelling that night by overnight bus. We had just arrived from a long flight and asked if they could leave their bags in my room for a few hours so we could visit the city or leave it in the store room if they had one. They refused, we offered to pay and they refused again abruptly and rudely. Had I not just paid for my room I would have turned around and walked out. I always make an attempt to greet people when I enter or leave a place, the staff replied and were friendly...the manager/owner never did. I would stay here again if I had no better options. Unfortunately there aren't many better options in Sao Paolo for the pri
It's cheap, and you get what you pay for.”
This is a perfectly acceptable, good value for money cheapie in the centre of Sao Paulo, but it's very much a hotel that's seen better days, and over all, a no-frills experience. The staff are respectful and helpful, but not always immediately and endlessly attentive to guests' needs and requests. The fabric of the hotel has not been renovated in a long time, and the furnishings, electric wiring, etc., are extremely basic (though serviceable and apparently safe). The buffet breakfast was generous and featured a wide choice, though some of the options were (understandably, given the low prices offered) were of basic quality. The location is good: the hotel is on a well-lit, busy stretch of the street and extremely close to the Metro and airport bus stop, so getting there at night, even in an area of the city that can seem very intimidating to someone coming from out of town, should not be a problem. My room, on the 3rd floor (there is a lift) was set back from the street and was remarkably quiet in such a busy area.
a small well un hostel with good breakfast”
I had a wonderful stay here even though staff there did not speak much English. Breakfast was remarable ( better if the hotel has a toaster). It is close to the city airport service depot/station. If there is no traffic jam, you can reach the international airport within haf an hour. It is close to the old district/ Repblic Square. The noise from nearby bars could be disturbing. I was given a room not facing he street. I could sleep well. The hotel is close to both the ne and old districts where visitors ca join guided walks ( there are free guided ones). They are far better tha commercial ones. You oly need to pay a small amount as gratuity to the leader of the tours.
