Beautiful hotel with exquisitely designed rooms.”
The Aruntara Riverside Boutique Hotel was our favorite! It is located a bit outside Chiang Mai with easy access to the Night Market and other wonderful excursions. The room and hotel are thoughtfully designed and uses all available space creatively. The staff was professional, helpful and courteous. Perfect!
The purpose of this journey is the celebration for my boyfriend's birthday and it was our first time to go Chiang Mai and Aruntara. Aruntara offered a free birthday cake to my boyfriend. Besides, I asked them about "balloon decoration" inside our room. They were helpful to provide the information and options to me. (Of course, I asked before my trip began) On that day, the secret Balloons and secret cake was surprising my boyfriend. The details cannot be described here. Thanks for satisfying my requests and let me and my boyfriend had an unforgettable memory in Chiang Mai! ALL staffs are kind and friendly. From inside to outside, the staff in front desk, restaurant, housekeeping and the securities took good and precise care to us. Recommend Aruntara to the travelers! Hope you guys will keep this attitude going!
nice design but good service”
this is a really good hotel, all the staff are very polite, they speak fluent English. they will try their best to solve your problem. design is good, and the room is very clean. i am appreciate the guard at the shop front, his name "PEACE". he will stop the car to make sure you can safety across the road, will help you to hire a taxi, recommend some nice food for you...etc. i have a wonderful experience living in Aruntara Riverside Boutique Hotel. thank you
we fully enjoyed every aspect of our stay at aruntara riverside boutique hotel. the staff is warm and helpful. everyone at the front deck spoke very fine english and was eager to meet our every need. the new years gala held at the hotel was really wonderful. good food, good music, skilled thai dancers and beautiful settings. the lantern lighting was the highlight of the evening.
Relax and Unwind at the Aruntara Hotel”
Our stay that the Aruntara Hotel located on the quiet banks of the Ping River exceeded expectations with the beautifully quiet manicured grounds which relaxed the body and mind when drinking and chatting with friends or preparing for the day with a modest but well appointed breakfast. At night dinners were carefully prepared by a very skilled chef and catered to a range of local and international tastes. All the hotel staff responded with enthusiasm and a welcoming Thai graciousness to all requests and were most helpful in providing guidance, recommendations and assistance with arranging tour activities, advice on visiting charming parts of the old city and sincerely and promptly responding to our needs as guests of the hotel. If the TV programme 'Getaway' could enter the doors of the Aruntara they would discover a sensative but striking presentation to the reception area, standard rooms well appointed and uniquely designed in a northern Thai style with generous beds elevated on a platform within the room, shutters to an adjoining full bath ensuite and tranquil views of the inner courtyard. The atmosphere is cool and breezy perfect for an afternoon nap or reclining by the sheltered pool sundeck reading a novel, or taking in the distant evening echoes of temples situated further along the banks of the river. Located some 20 minutes by tuk tuk from the centre of the old city (likey faster by airconditioned taxi), the Aruntara is a welcome escape at the end of a morning's temple touring, elephant trekking or jostle amid the Sunday night market to retreat and relax for the next day's adventure. Many thanks Aruntara we will be back!
My stay at the Aruntara Riverside Boutique Hotel was excellent. The room is spacious, clean and in good conditions. The place is very quiet and elegant. The restaurant is just by the riverside and has very good location and view.
my partner & i stayed at the aruntara for 5 nights during the songkran festival. the hotel participated with inviting guests to release fish into the river to celebrate the occasion which was very enlightening. each day we felt very welcomed & also staff were very attentive but "not in your face". the hotel has a very calming & relaxing ambience which was greatly appreciated after surviving the celebrations out on the streets. the decor in the room (we booked the elephant suite) was just beautiful & the spa bath was very much appreciated each evening. we will defintely stay here again when we visit chiang mai..just loved it so much
Great boutique hotel near downtown Chiang Mai”
Our stay at the Aruntara was one of the most pleasant times, and I have had many, in Chiang Mai. In addition to the stunning architecture, the facility is well maintained and excellently staffed. There was really no area that I did not find well done by this boutique hotel.
The most amazing stay! ”
We loved every moment at Aruntara. It's a bit far from the Old City and the Night Bazaar but if you like to walk around and explore like we do than it is possible. Night bazaar is about your halfway point. A tuktuk from either place is about 100baht, depending on driver. Breakfast buffet is the best we had. So many Thai options, every day there was something new! They also had a standard breakfast (pancakes, waffles, bacon, potatoes, cereal, fruit, yogurt, granola, and toast) but I liked the hot buffet best. Good coffee. The pool is nice and refreshing. The water is COLD. It's located in a shady spot so the sun doesn't warm up the water. Very refreshing in the afternoon sun. The room we had was beautiful. It was spacious for two people but could have easier slept another person on the daybed. House keeping came every afternoon and it was nice to come back from a long day and have a clean room and fresh towels waiting for us. There is also a minibar you can take advantage of and if not, it’s just a regular mini fridge with a little extra space for you to put personal items in there. House keeping will leave 2 water bottles for you every day There is a rain showerhead. A deep soaking tub. Great water pressure and hot water (we had a room on the 3rd floor). The hotel provides shampoo, conditioner, soaps, shower caps, ear qtips, a mini toothbrush and toothpaste, and a hair dryer for your convenience. The mattress was standard for Thailand. It's a little harder than back home but we got used to it. It was a true queen sized bed. Great recessed lighting all around. The air conditioner worked great! Just know that the room key has a slot near the door that will turn the electricity on in the room. So when you come back to the room at the end of the day it might not be as cold as you would like it to be but it cools down quickly. Aruntara also provides free bicycles you can borrow as well as a free shuttle to the Night Bazaar at 7pm (one way, no pick up)
We had a wonderful time at Aruntara Riverside Hotel, wonderful room, the view was so lovely , the staffs are great, we will stay there next time we visit Chiang Mai.
Elegant riverside hotel”
We stayed at Aruntara with a three year old child, and all of us enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and most spoke english well. We had a normal deluxe room with a huge double bed and a chaise lounge. As our daughter is now too tall for the baby cots, they transformed the chaise lounge into a very comfortable mini bed which was perfect for our needs. There was also a lovely 'semi open' bathtub and a separate shower and lavatory room. A minor drawback of the room was their lack of sensible storage space. The cupboard was big enough, but there were no shelves or drawers, so it's not used efficiently. The sleeping and bathroom areas are quite well laid out and did not feel cramped even with an active three year old. However if you can stretch your budget I would highly recommend their balcony suites overlooking the back garden and river. You get a large private balcony as well as a shared balcony with the adjacent suite. Our room, like all the other deluxe rooms did not have a balcony but we did have tall windows which faced a nice internal courtyard. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because it had a nice lawn at the back for our daughter to run around in. The lawn and garden is overlooked by the restaurant, which meant that we could enjoy a relatively leisurely meal while keeping an eye on our daughter playing on the lawn. After a busy day exploring markets and roaring about in tuktuks, it's really nice to be able to come back and let children loose in the garden to 'decompress'! Location wise it's a little bit of a trek to the town centre, but tuktuks and songthaews are readily available. Our tuktuk rides cost between 50 to 100 baht depending on distance. Having visited a few other boutique hotels, I think the Aruntara definitely offers fantastic value for their star rating and rates. We wouldn't hesitate to go back, and would recommend this hotel to other travellers of all age groups.
Lovely, quiet hotel”
My recent three night stay at Aruntara was excellent. The location is convenient for touring. However, its riverside setting provides a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Although I was traveling with an adult son, this hotel would also be great for families with younger children. The pool and adjacent green space are very family friendly. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are spa-like.
I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with two other friends. We had two rooms side by side looking into the garden. It was 10-15 min taxi ride from the airport. Hired a cab from the "taxi meter" counter for 150 baht, flat rate. We arrived in the evening, the lighting definitely set a comfortable and peaceful atmosphere. Love it already! I like boutique hotel rather than big chains because you don't need to bump into (a lot of) other travelers at the lobby. Staff were nice and friendly. The welcome drink tastes really good! The staff walked us to the room and showed us where to have breakfast. The room was clean, nicely scented with essential oils and quite spacious. It was quiet and I slept no problem at night. Not a fancy breakfast buffet, but you can choose patio (by the river) or indoor seating. "Egg frying pan" was very tasty and freshly prepared by the chef at the omelette station. Transportation to other parts of the city was easy by Tuk Tuk (80-100 baht to night market, negotiate price!) and/or "Red Car" (you may share ride with other locals, 20 baht per person to night market and 30 baht per person to nimmanhemin road). Red Car turns out to be cheap for our group of 3. Getting a Tuk Tuk or Red Car in the daytime and early evening was not a problem. But since the hotel was not on a busy street, we waited for a good while for a ride when we headed out at 11pm one night. There is a spa at the hotel, but we didn't use it. There is a so-called pool by the lawn, but you can barely swim because the water depth was from ankle-depth to 1.2m only. Overall, it was a 5-star experience and I will return for sure! Thank you to all the wonderful staff!
Lovely hotel and staff friendly and smiling.”
I stayed in the Aruntara in 2010 and it is a very nice boutique hotel. Staff are always smiling and very helpful. Nice location on the banks of the river Ping and within a short taxi ride to the town centre and airport. Excellent food and the Restaurant Supervisor was very helpful and always welcomed guests with a smile and a chat. I would recommend this hotel very highly.
Better than expected, I would recommend this hotel”
We enjoyed our stay. Staff could not have been more helpful. . Comfortable room with all facilities. A lovely bath with all toiletries as needed. The Aruntara is a few minutes ride from the city centre in a quiet riverside position which allows time to unwind. Transport was provided each evening and weekend to the night market. The garden pool area very quiet and restful although there was no comfy lounge for relaxing on a rainy day! We arrived late in the evening and the hotel had a an ambience of the traditional and mystical.. Excellent overall.
Quite simply - A brilliant hotel”
If only every hotel in the world was like the Aruntara ! After a long journey we arrived with a very tired 1 year old and were immediately shown to our room - we had booked the elephant suite, but chose to upgrade to the white elephant suite that overlooked the river - everything about the room was perfect, the bed very comfortable, the view relaxing, excellent internet connection, lovely products in the bathroom, lots of fluffy towels, fresh fruit every day. The staff could not have been more helpful - and even though the hotel was nearly full it felt like we were the only guests there - the spa was excellent and no more pricey that the hundreds of day spas in the city. We love to walk and didn't find the location too far out from the night market - to be honest, it was great to get away from it all. Perfect !
Lovely rooms but expansion has ruined river view”
This is the second time that we stayed at Aruntara. Although it is a bit out of the way it is a nice property. Unfortunately, they are expanding the hotel and have completely ruined the river view of all but a few rooms. There is almost no reason to stay at a riverside property if the view is ruined. Too bad.
Great stylish hotel in Chiang Mai”
Aruntara is a famous hotel brand name, their quality is good and everything is well organised with good service. I like the location as it is apart from the "old city" but not too far away, quiet and nice environment. Staff is very helpful and with good English as well, not causing communication problem. I have booked the white elephant suite for 2 days and everything is good except the electricity has some problem, the last day electricity all gone and I know it is an accident. But would like the hotel to pay attention to it, only our room like that. Thanks everything.
Nice and comfortable place”
We had a wonderful time at Aruntara, too bad it was only for a short visit. Would love to stay a bit longer next time we are in Chiang Mai. Great place and highly recommended.
Great Hotel in Chiang Mai”
Fantastic hotel in Chiang Mai.. We stayed there for 4 nights for a very reasonable price. The hotel is really well laid out, staff were very welcoming and always there to help out. THe room was one of the nicest we stayed in during out time in Thailand, very comofortable, clean, spacious etc. I would definitely stay here again if i returned to chiang mai.
