We chose Asean Halong Hotel for acclimatisation and resting up after the planeride over here, with great success. Not a lot going on, witch suited us fine. Nice room, freindly staff, sitting poolside, your glass gets refilled the moment you put it down. The manager speaks english, and what he lacks in grammar he makes up for with his plesant manners. This is also the guy to talk to if you want to book a trip around Halong Bay.

Hotel staff were very nice and helpful specially Ms. Trang. She not only arranged pick up from Hanoi airport but also our Halong Bay tour next day. The only minus is the hotel is a bit away from main market area. However, it does not matter much as tourist visit the city only for Halong Bay tour and not marketing. By the way there are many eateries nearby to taste Vietnamese cuisine.

Great service, great location, very affordable”
i stayed for two nights in this hotel in january 2012. there were 4 of us, so we booked two rooms. overall, i am very happy with my stay here. firstly, the hotel provides a great view of halong bay and i got two rooms on the 10th floor. the staff were really great, always smiling and ready to help. most of them were not proficient in english, but their positive attitudes really won our hearts. special thanks to mr hua, who provided great help in booking local trips and also helped in getting us vegetarian food. i would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Never made it due to typhoon warning”
Unfortunately I never made it to Halong Bay due to a typhoon warning that morning just as I got onto the bus to go to Halong Bay from Hanoi. But from the pictures Ive seen Im pretty sure it it is a great hotel.

Value for money hotel in Halong Bay”
The hotel is on the street pararel and walking distace to beach side. Everything are fine with this hotel, unfortunately, Halong area doesn't have much to offer. Most tourists stay in Hanoi and do day trip to Halong Bay, making Halong rather a quite city than a tourist place.

Good hotel. Excellent Service.”
The locaton is ok. The place itself is kind of quite since it is just surrounded of more hotels but nothing else. However, in 5 mins you can walk to the bay for shopping, dining or just walking along the bay. The rooms are fair in size.We were travelling with two children and had a room with two beds that was just fine. The views to the bay in the upper floor are great. The staff was great and very friendly. They were able to help me with booking a cruise the night before, and providing advice and directions to go to the wet market. Breakfast was excellent, buffet style with a good number of options. We also had dinner in their restaurant and it was also good.

Grand hotel with seaview but a bit old”
Our first time staying in Halong town after our day trip in Halong Bay enoying the beautiful islets and the Heaven Palace Cave. The rest of the group nwent back to Hanoi but I chose to stay one night at Halong town just to explore and get to know the place. Nothing much happening there at the moment. No good restaurants and so we ate in a local coffeeshop. The night market is not exactly what you have in mind as it has just a few shops selling wooden souvenirs/biscuits etc. I would say staying in a hotel in halong town is just for rest and it is not so stressful and tiring to travel back to Hanoi for another 3 and a half tours. To and fro same day would have lost 7 hrs on the road and too tiring for my aged parents. Halong Town is still in the midst of developement. Given another five to ten years, it will be a great place to stay overnight if it has themeparks or casino or some other attractions to make tourists stay rather than presently they go back to Hanoi city or stay overnight in the cruise ship.

The hotel is showing a bit age. The two beds room has plenty of space and good view at the bay. The shower head location left a lot to be desired. Even with the curtain on, the rest room still flooded with water after the shower. The aisle should have more lighting.

Average hotel. A tired 4 star standard”
The hotel felt like it was somewhat deserted, not many guests and it had a feel of a place that had some glory in the past. Its a little tired. Its rooms are in need of refurbishment. Pool was average. Best thing was the breakfast. Note though that paying per night makes this place good value. You cannot expect international 4 star value at that price.

Impressions good but not four star quality”
First impression is excellent but the bed was very firm, the hot water intermittent in the suite and we could hear conversations and snoring from the next room. Room service food was very good. Nice big bath but made disconcerting creaking noises when you stepped in plus water seemed to leak from around the edges. Great views of the bay and very large food selection for breakfast but seems to cater for tour groups.

Hotel looks great , but very tight on everything inside ! We arrived from Hanoi by bus as our plane had arrived into hanoi too late for the tour bus to halong bay. We thought we were going to die a few times as the bus driver was from hell! He was running a scam for westerners, as he dumped us on the side of the road, just near e few men on scooters , who will take you the rest of the way to the hotel for another price each! We stayed 3 nights, they had bus loads of people arrive when we did, so gave us a free upgrade only to take the flowers fruit bowl and dressing gowns out of the room while we were there saying we booked with agoda , so not entitled to any extras. You could imagine how we felt. Then breakfast was between 6 and 9 am, we went down at 7.30 to 8am only to find hardly anything there, when things ran out they didn't replace them, the bacon , well , you couldn't really call it bacon it was really fat with the tiniest bit of meat through the middle, if you were lucky. No one spoke English , or if you found someone that did it was very sparing. Seems all they see is your wallet! Would not recommend this hotel

Hotel in a great location over looking the bay bars and restaurants ten minutes walk and the port not far away . At the time of my vist the spar was closed and a sign was put up to say open at the end of dec 2012 after the refit , I took a look and no work had been carried out ! The gym is in need of all the equipment been replaced .

A bit rundown and old”
I was a bit disappointed with my stay here at Asean Halong Hotel. The hotel was a bit antique and old. There were no iron or hair dryers in the rooms, and the pool was depressing. The kitchen inside the room was under construction or semi-removed, I couldn't really tell. The only positive thing I could possibly say about this hotel, was the great view of Halong Bay from it's seaside balcony. I would recommend looking for the more modern hotels near the beachside.

Overall acceptable but location was not ideal, no shopping area around. Beach front and dining restuarants are 15 mins walk. Buffet spread has variety but food quality only average.
