Receptionists were very cold, no greeting and no information provided at check in time. Checking in took supper long with a man cut the line right in front of me! And the receptionist seemed not care at all! Will not recommend for poor service

fantastic location and top class hotel
the price paid for the room via Agoda booking on my trip this round is definitely worth it. right next to Nanjing road walk and city main attraction. fabulous hotel amenities and staff services. strong wifi connection.will definitely worth to return to this hotel with right price.

Expectations dashed, not exceeded
This hotel has outlived its status as 5-star. The rooms are tired and over-furnished (making them crowded) with outdated facilities and poor standard amenities. I seriously doubt the room met the size as advertised. I stood on carpet nails near where the aged carpet met the foyer tiles - fortunately not breaking skin. I had to use fingernails to lift the bath plug in order to have a shower that drained. The shower head spewed an uncomfortable stream of water in a small showering space (in the bath - not a separate shower stall). The bathroom amenities are of a poor quality. The whole room experience reeks of owners who can't be bothered updating the hotel in order to make for a decent guest experience. Staff also failed to meet the Howard Johnson claim of exceeding expectations. Concierge shrugged when I requested an umbrella (it was raining), cafe staff stared into space instead watching guests to anticipate their needs, and Sunday morning checkout had one guest services agent operating until a massive line built up. The only positive I can offer for this hotel is its location. I am sure there are better value, better service options nearby.
