Mysteriouse, quirky amazing and memorable.”

Im coming back to this hotel. Its going to be my retreat once a year. I love this place, wirh each corridor and passageway leading to a surprise and gift from its eccentric artist designer decorator to you. Its weird, quirky interesting, educating, artworks and interior design, will lead you on a trip from the top of the rabbit hole,down through to the Cheshire cat, leaving you happy and bewildered under a mushroom. As in most cases in this wonderfull country, staff service, hospitality, friendliness and profesionalism is impecible, names and faces will be missed until my return. Down to facilities and services, room, laundry, restuarant, bar should i go on, all were top class. The bar is an oasis, cool in all aspects of the word, a retreat,an oasis of art and colour. Not surprised to see Germans enjoying the settings that included 1930,s Berlin cabaret type prints, and good wine. I have been blessed to live a fortunate life, travelling and visiting many places and hotels,Malang is a wonderful city and the Tugu Malang my favourite hotel so far. Best Hotel We've Stayed In”

Tugu Malang is a fantastic hotel. It is very unique and the staff is amazing. When you go do have Sigit give you a tour of the hotel, he is very knowledgeable and an all around great guy! The food is fantastic, the tea/coffee and snacks are amazing. Management is very caring and was always asking to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction. The couples massage was fantastic as well. We will definitely be coming back again the next time we are in Malang. Tugu Malang has created a wonderful memory for us. We miss being there already.

Great Hotel”

Tugu Malang Hotel is the one and only best five star hotel in Malang town. When stepping my foot on the entrance I could feel Javanese feature with its traditional style. This five star hotel really is the representation of Indonesia's richness especially in terms of culture. This five star hotel offers its cultural heritage which made it very beautiful hotel especially for expatriate or foreign visitors like me.

The perfect place to stay in Malang”

Love, Love, Love this hotel. Designed and decorated in a classic old style with superior service at all levels. Built by someone who really cares about Asian history, the property is like a museum with antiques and paintings all through the property - get a tour it's quite fascinating. The room was so comfortable and clean. Service was great across the board, from front desk staff to the restaurant and the people who service the room. I spent five nights and felt sad to leave. Breakfast was one of the best ever - so many high quality options I didn't even know where to start. One morning I had an early start to see Mt. Bromo and they packed a box for me since I would have missed breakfast, such a nice touch. Afternoon tea was such a pleasant way to relax after a long day - great selection of teas and coffees along with local sweets. The restaurant is one of the best in town and dinner was wonderful. Amazing selection of food. I have nothing negative to say about the Tugu Malang.

A mind-blowing combination of palace and museum”

The TUGU Malang is a unique place on earth, being both a magnificent museum and an ultra-comfortable hotel with a pool. You will be flabbergasted by the magnificence of the place: antiques, artefacts, wooden doors, Bali temples...all inside the hotel. Take your time to wander and step back in time. The food is delicious:the breakfast amazingly rich of flavours(fresh juices) and dinner is worth a visit. The location is very central, the service is of high-standard. The only weaknesses of the place would be some rooms with windows facing a wall (but the hotel kindly moved us to a pool view), and the busy and noisy traffic circle outside (ask for a room not facing the traffic circle).

All Staffs are very friendly and helpful . They can speak English and we could communicate well . They always have sweet smiles and willing to help us . The hotel provided free Indonesia snacks and the tastes were great . When we checked out , they gave 2 packs of Tugu coffee as souvenir . It’s located centre of the city and close with the Malang Train Station . They provided us the return transport to Malang Station . It’s also near with the Blue City & Colorful City (Jodipang Village) . We had dinner at the hotel . We chose Indonesia local food and that was great . I like very much their Oxtail Soup .

tugu malang was an exceptionally unique hotel with lots of eclectic showpiece to marvel throughout the hotel. the staff was exceptionally firendly and helpful, especially in helping me feel better from an upset stomach. don't miss high-tea on the veranda with indonesian delicacies. great for watching life outside as well. the hotel also has one of the best spas we have been to with reasonable prices. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would highly recumbend it. great value for the money too

My fiancé needed some time away from work and wanted to hangout with her girlfriends. We chose the Tugu Malang Hotel (again) for her 3 night getaway. Great hotel, but the devil is in the details”

we stayed for 4 days in malang in order to sort out some colonial roots of the family. the tugu has impressed us as a hotel for its wonderful, sometimes surpsingly econoclastic (passage of love and the discotheque) interior. the collection of antiques is great, though a bit of a mishmash. unfortunately the shop where one could buy antiques is poorly lit. staff is very friendly and helpful, the complimentary teaservice is a nice gesture, but the real treat is the restaurant with dishes from all over the archipelago. all very neatly served and authentic. it is not our custom to have dinner in the hotel where we stay, but here we settled for nothing else at an extremely good value for money. however, some minor details might be staightened out. there was no knife with the fruits, the wifi is all around but very slow, even for indonesia, the fridge did not work and the airco was difficult to handle, to say the least. either too warm or too cold. nonetheless, we´ll certainly come back, whence in malang.

My recent stay”

My relatives have been staying at this hotel for years everytime they come to Malang. And I had the privilege to stay here recently. The food was excellent along with other outstanding qualities. Staffs are knowledgeable and very friendly. Room is very clean and neat. Not to mention the overal pleasant ambiance here which no doubt give this hotel high rating. God willing, I would definitely return to tugu hotel on my next visit to Malang.

Superb service and character”

From the moment we arrived we were treated as valued guests, with an unsolicited but very welcome room upgrade. Reception very efficiently arranged a jeep to Mt Bromo and train tickets for Solo. All staff were so friendly and the complimentary afternoon tea on the upstairs balcony was pure pleasure. The balcony itself overlooks Malang's main roundabout, which is more like a landscaped park, so the hotel is very central ..... and for once in Indonesia the streets are quiet and green enough to walk. All in all Tugu Malang is an absolute delight which is worth going out of your way to visit.

Beautiful stay with the little "extra" that makes it special”

I can only recommend the Tugu. Conveniently located in walking distance to the train station and main center of Malang, otherwise a becak is always available just outside. The hotel is really beautiful, a colorful experience! But what makes it really special is that the hotel goes the extra mile. The afternoon tea, a little coffee present at checkout, a barkeeper mixing you his favorite drink, all make the experience the deciding bit better than the usual hotels! Warmly recommended.

Tugu Malang, like most of the other Tugu establishments to be found throughout Indonesia (resorts & restaurants) never fails to provide a welcome retreat from the day to day bustle of your average Indonesian city. The rooms are always clean, each one slightly unique. Food excellent & service always with a smile. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to any traveller, whether for business or leisure.

Great location, comfy bed, friendly staff”

The location is great, in the center of Malang. Although it is an old hotel, the room and the bed are still comfy enough and I feel like I was staying in a museum that has a room in it. For the food, their Indonesian food is really nice. What I really like most, is their friendly staff. Two thumbs up!! I will definitely stay in Tugu again if I go to Malang.

Indonesia's Best”

Tugu is by far the best place to stay in Indonesia. If you are in Java, make a trip to Malang and stay at Tugu at least a few nights. The food and drink are outstanding -- they have a tea time everyday that offers free drinks and all these wonderfully tasting treats. Take advantage of the amazing spa treatments. All the staff learn to know your name and really make you feel like you are at a home away from home. Tugu makes you feel like family and it makes it that much harder to end your stay. 5 stars!

A luxury small hotel, beautfully furnished.”

tugu malang has a certain class that other hotels do not. it transports one back to a way of life in east java generations ago, but in the comfort of modern day. staff are friendly and attentive. this was my third visit to tugu malang.

Beautiful hotel with great charm and service.”

i had a most pleasant stay at tugu malang, beautiful ambiance and excellent service. my room was a bit too small. i was booked only for one night but decided to stay on another night as it was so pleasant there. on my first day 27 july, the piped music was a bit loud and went on forever into the night and the solo singer on piano at the restaurant sang till almost 11pm! now that's rather too much as he could be heard from everywhere in the hotel! things were better the next day. overall it was a great experience staying at tugu malang! bravo!

definitely the finest hotel in malang and one of the very best in indonesia, the tugu has a staff that specializes in personalized attention. they were very quick to help in any way they could; they let one know that they enjoy serving their guests. the corridors and halls of the hotel are filled with artifacts and artwork from all over the archipelago; one has the feeling of being in a museum. the gift shop has a strong selection of jewelry and batik sarongs.

There is nothing much to do in malang. The hotel stay makes it pleasant. From its decor, to the friendly and helpful staff to small details like free afternoon tea - Tugu Malang is best you could get. Try the restaurant and bakery. We loved it.

What a great place! We thoroughly enjoyed Tugu Malang from the amazing building itself, the complementary afternoon tea, the fantastic food in the hotel's Malati Restaurant and particularly the local cooking course which included a visit to the local market, preparing local food with a team from the hotel and then eating it. Overall delightful service! This is what staying in an hotel on a vacation is supposed to be like. Thank you.
