A place like home”
Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo was my home away from home during my visit to Tokyo, Japan earlier in January this year. I had chosen this hotel based on the location and surrounding facilities (and made the reservation from Malaysia) but I was surprised that it had more benefits than I had bargained for when I arrived at the hotel. Firstly, travelling to the hotel was very simple, especially for first-timers to Japan. All I had to do was take the bus from Haneda Airport and one of the main stops of this bus is at the lobby of the Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo. This was to me one of the major benefits of staying at the hotel. Even on my final day in Japan, I had also taken this bus from the hotel lobby to Haneda Airport which meant that I had more time to do some last minute sight seeing and shopping and was never worried about missing my flight home. Secondly, the hotel is located next to the JR Ikebukuro station and has various types of establishment in the surrounding area such as shopping malls, restaurants, etc. The access to JR line made getting about Tokyo very easy (as the JR line takes you around the City). In addition, shops like 7-Eleven, 100-Yen shop and malls like Seibu located next to the hotel made it easier for late-night food grabs and shopping! The hotel room was adequately sized for two and the facilities provided in the room was very good. We enjoyed the view of Mount Fuji as well as the facilities provieded in the room. Multiple TV channels and high-speed WiFi made connections on the internet a stress-free experience and facilitated communications with family members and friends back home. In addition, the room was very clean and that the housekeeping even checked with us everyday to ask whether they can clean my room - although we made it clear that we did not require the housekeeping service! Overall, a very pleasant and wonderful experience at the hotel and would definitely be my hotel of choice if I ever return to Tokyo for work or leisure.

Lovely hotel with excellent service, large rooms”
I decided to stay at the Metropolitan after reading positive reviews about it online. Having never visited Japan before, and listening to personal accounts of friends who have been about the tiny rooms and complicated train network, I was a bit apprehensive about the trip, especially traveling with a teenager and 2 hyperactive kids. However, my worries were proven unfounded as the hotel turned out exactly as the pictures and description said it was going to be. Getting there was a breeze from Narita as the Airport Limousine makes a stop right at the hotel entrance. Check in was also very fast and when we got to the rooms, I was really happy to see that it more than fit the 4 of us along with our 5 luggage bags with still enough room for us to maneuver. Ikebukuro turned out to be a cosy place that isn't as crowded as the rest of Tokyo and the train station was a hop, skip and jump away. Literally. We could get to anywhere in Tokyo very conveniently indeed. The best part about the hotel is that almost every staff member we met spoke excellent English and they were willing to go the extra mile to accommodate our requests. 10 days passed by so quickly, we wished that we could stay longer. Considering the price of hotel rooms in Tokyo, the Metropolitan is a bargain for the size, luxury, thoughtfulness of staff members and service. I would definitely stay there again the next time I visit Tokyo which, hopefully, is in the very near future. All because of the wonderful experience we had there. If I had to make a complaint, it would be that there should be more sofas in the lobby for people to sit on, but that's just being too picky.

Great deal by Ikebukuro”
I have stayed at the Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo on multiple occasions in the past, and I have been pleased with the service. Location: The location is not bad, just a short walk from the Ikebukuro station, which you can get a ride directly to from the Narita Express. There are many restaurants and stores nearby and I seem to remember some kind of festival happening in a square nearby when I was there earlier. Someone told me the restaurant in the hotel is good, but I've never eaten there so I can't say for sure. Also Ikebukuro is one of the major hubs on the Yamanote line which allows you to get to other places pretty easily as long as you aren't travelling during rush hour. Service: I've always had stellar service in Japan, and this place was no different. I thought it was on par with the business hotels that I have stayed at in Shinagawa when I am in Tokyo on business. Room: The rooms were not huge, but by Japanese standards they were pretty big. Compared to hotels I've stayed at for vacation they were a bit bigger, and compared to the hotels I get when on business they were a bit smaller, but really I felt like it was a good size where it wasn't just bed + desk + small pathway that has a small bathroom on the side that I've seen at a few hotels in Japan. I need a bit of space to stretch out and it worked out well for me. Overall I felt that this was a good value for the quality that you receive.

Exceptional”
Stayed at the Hotel Metropolitan for 6 nights in November 2018 and found it to be an excellent Hotel with shops, eateries and restaurants all very close by. We had a superior double room (room 2330) on the top floor and although not a large room it was ample for our stay with amazing views over Tokyo City (rooms on the other side have views towards Mt Fuji). There is a top floor restaurant (sadly we did not have time to use as we were in Tokyo visiting family) also with amazing views and a piano and would be a great choice for an evening meal. The many staff were excellent and always ready to oblige. The Hotels proximity to Ikebukuro JR Line & Metro station is excellent, only a few minuets. Tokyo is a vast city requiring lots of walking and Ikebukuro station is just as vast in it's self. There are many exits with the Metropolitan exit being the nearest to the Hotel They also offer an airport bus shuttle service (reserve at Bell Desk) which cost JP Yen 3,100 pp which was excellent.

Second stay at this excellent hotel”
Same review as before for our previous stay just days prior, but this time we had a Superior Queen room (2030), which was actually smaller in size to the twin room that we had previously. Also the fixtures were slightly different in the bathroom as it seems like the twin room that we had stayed in had been renovated with more updated fixtures. Still, I would say our experience was excellent and submit the same review as for our stay in the twin room just days prior: We had a very positive experience with the Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo. The hotel staff was extremely polite and helpful (This is Japan of course so I suppose being polite and helpful is practically de rigueur). The location of the hotel is excellent as it directly across from and only a few minutes walk from the Ikebukuro Station ("second busiest train station in the world" after Shinjuku station). Yet, despite the proximity to a major station, the hotel itself resides on a relatively quiet and calm corner that is welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the main intersections in front of the official station entrance. The Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo is also well situated as there are huge department stores and a mall right across the street. Food, shopping, and convenience stores (AM PM right down the block) are all nearby. The Superior Twin room (room 2019) was clean, and modern, but as with most Japanese hotels, a little on the small side. The bathroom was compact, but had excellent modern fixtures including a Toto toilet that washes your private parts with warm water after you take care of your regular duties if you choose. Even the free disposable plastic items like combs and razor were of excellent quality. At night the walk up to hotel is enjoyable as you get to see the lights on the modern glass and steel sculpture/awning in front of the hotel. There is also a wedding chapel in the hotel which when lit up is also quite noticeable and will leave you wondering, 'what is that' as it does look a bit

Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo, a great place to stay!”
We stayed for five nights at Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo in March, 2010. This is really a high end hotel, very clean and spacious, particularly considering a place like Tokyo. The staff is very courteous and friendly. Room has been well kept by the cleaning crew. This is really among the best and we had a very comfortable stay for five nights. If I were to go again, I will definetely stay at the Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo. It is also a very conveniently located (just about one block to) near to the major subway, Ikebukuro station. Finally, reservation made through 'Agoda' made it much simpler and easy to stay.

Location, Location, Location !!!”
I used to stay in Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro whenever I visit Japan. The hotel is just walking distant to JR Ikebukuro Station. The room is clean and spacious. The staff members are polite and courteous. There are many eateries nearby and Lumine shopping centre is just above the station. One must pay a visit to HARBS Cafe which serves lovely cakes. For first timer to Tokyo, I strongly recommend this hotel. This hotel has Airport transfer which is extremely convenient.

There are several shops and restaurants in hotel as well and also a fitness center. The main restaurant on the first floor where you can choose to have breakfast if you wish is clean, modern, and well maintained with a nice view of the water running over the stone wall structure in the front of the hotel. The food itself was decent, but nothing exceptional. There restaurant has a calming and cool feel

Fantastic location, comfortable room size, easy and comfy access from Narita”
Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro has been my go-to hotel whenever I visit Tokyo with my sister. Location and accessibility - The Airport Limo stops right at its doorsteps making it super convenient for us to get to and from the Airport to Hotel with ease. No doubt the trip takes longer but it eliminates the need to lug our luggages up and down the (inevitable) staircases and navigate through the train station. The hotel is also right above Ikebukuro station and offers easy access to transportation and endless shopping - fantastic! Amenities all around - There are not one, but three supermarts around the hotel (Lawsons, Family Mart, 7/11). There's also a Mos Burger, Hokuo (bakery) and Doutor cafe plus many other F&B around. If you feel like having a haircut, there's also a hair salon across where Hokuo is, on the second floor. Hotel - Clean and comfortable room with helpful staff. To note: you need to reserve your return airport limo on arrival at the hotel ya...

Gorgeous hotel in a convenient location ”
I really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Metropolitan, and I'm glad I made the choice I did. It is a very comfortable hotel with nice, if not small, rooms. The size wasn't much of an issue for me as I was travelling alone and I had quite a small bag, but for couples or people with a lot of luggage this may be something to bear in mind. The room had everything I could need- tea set, fridge, pyjamas and a lot of complimentary toiletries, and it had a great view of Tokyo. The hotel is not in the most central or touristy part of Tokyo, and there isn't very much to do in Ikebukuro itself, but it's a couple of minutes walk from the station from which you can easily get to Shinjuku, Shibuya etc. There are a lot of places to eat and facilities such as a gym and pool (which I didn't use) in the hotel, which are all fairly expensive, but the restaurant I ate at was good. The service is excellent. I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone going to Tokyo.

Definitely a MUST-STAY! It's a fantastic hotel.”
We strongly recommend this hotel if you want quality while on a budget. - Ikebukuro is near Nippori, which is a transfer station to the train service headed to Narita Airport. It's an excellent location if you're flying via Narita. - Ikebukuro is a major station with many train lines, adding to convenience. - Like most large stations with interchanging lines, Ikebukuro is a complex station, but definitely not as complex as Shinjuku or Tokyo station. - It's got department stores (TOBU) and food chains (McDonalds, KFC, or your usual Japanese deli) conveniently located near the hotel. If you're grabbing lovely Japanese snacks for loved ones, the underground TOBU department stores provide them at great convenience! - The lobby looks great, the service is friendly and efficient (I requested for 2 extra pillows, they were delivered in 10 minutes!), the lifts come quickly, the concierge helped us promptly, be it recommendations on where to go, how to get to places, or inquiring about the weather up to the next 3 days! - It's a mere 7 minute walk from the Ikebukuro station, and on the way to the hotel, you pass by high-class malls. - It's incredibly affordable for the price! - The toilets are small but so lovely, immaculately clean, and well-designed to conserve space yet to meet needs. On top of high-quality shampoo, conditioner and soap, we were also given bath salt for a home-spa treat! These were delightful bonuses we didn't expect. Do stay there if you can!

Excellent Location, Comfy Hotel”
I love Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro because : (1) It is spacious for 3 persons (2) The view from #22 is good (3) The room's amenities are good. It provides Bath Salt for the Bathtub; mini-set facial care products (Decorte AQ); hair dryer is powerful; it comes with bath, face and hand towels; I love the UCC (drip) coffee. (4) It is within walking distance to Ikebukuro Station. It has many shopping centres such as Seibu, Tobu, Lumine, Metropolitan Plaza, Sunshine City, (5) It is near to "Wudi Ramen Outlet", Bic Camera, Don Don Donki (24 hours), and many more (6) Staff speaks good English. They are polite and help to call taxi for us to go to the Haneda International Airport. Will definitely stay in Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro when I return in the future.

A Strategic Location at the Heart of Tokyo”
This is our first visit to Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro. We absolutely love the location. It's a 3-min walk to the Ikebukuro station and located at the heart of all shops and eateries. We would never run out of food! The room is clean and the facilities are sufficient for our stay. However, we find the room a bit tight as we are a family of three and also we request an additional bed for our child. The location and accessibility make up for everything! This hotel is also one of the stops for Airport Limousine.

Great location, spacious and comfortable room”
This is our stay time stay in Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro, the location is very convenience, walking distance to the main Ikebukuro station, and close to all shopping malls, plenty of cafe and restaurants around. The room is clean and spacious! Also, you can just purchase the bus ticket from the hotel and the bus will be waiting outside the hotel to bring you to the airport, a bonus!.

Nice Location”
Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro is a traditional large-scale hotel with reasonable room rates in Tokyo. Firstly, for the location, it is a located in a 3-mins walk distance from Metro Station in which many JR and Tokyo Metro lines located. Moreover, they got the Airport Limousine Bus Stop (Both Narita and Haneda) in the hotel that you don't need to carry your heavy luggage to find the bus stop or train station when you leave for the airport. The staff here are nice and efficient and for the room, it's clean and tidy although a little bit small but it is common in most of the hotels in Japan. They got nice quality bath amenities (What surprising me is that they got Shiseido Face wash) in which you need not to bring your own. Generally speaking, if you are looking for a traditional large scale hotel in good location but not those new and trendy one, it's a good choice. To me, it's a nice hotel in which I will consider again next time if stay in Tokyo.

Good location and great service!”
We stayed here for our honeymoon and found it a lovely place. It was easily accessible from Ikebukuro station. There are a few convenience stores nearby and dining places such as Sukiya (beef bowl) and Mos Burger. Shopping is also conveniently located at the shopping centres (TOBU, LUMINE) a few minutes walk away. The famous rusk biscuit by Gateau de France is sold at the basement of Tobu...highly recommended to buy as souvenirs back home. Seems like there is always a queue for it, but it's a relatively short wait. The staff at Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo were very friendly and helped us in our booking for our bus to Mount Fuji. The room cleaning ladies also waited patiently till we left the room at 2pm to clean up, even though room cleaning ends at 2pm. When we mentioned to the counter staff that we were on our honeymoon, they gave us 2 free drink coupons we could use in their restaurants. It was a lovely gesture and a pleasant surprise for us. Fitness club is not free of charge to hotel guests. It is an extra charge of about 2000yen per day. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo. Thumbs up for the great hospitality we received!

Convenient, clean well staffed hotel”
i have stayed at hotel metropolitan several times. for short business or personal trips the hotel is great with direct airport limo service, a two minute walk to ikebukuro station and department stores. other shopping is close by within walking distance(tokyu hands and bic camera a favorite) food options are abundant, with whatever you like and whatever price range you are looking for. ask the bell captain for a street map of ikebukuro, as you can get lost on the little streets!! by the way, the front desk upgraded me to a full double on check in, didn't expect the upgrade, but another nice touch that will make me come back to the metropolitan.

First Class Accommodations”
I selected Hotel Metropolitan based upon its location to the Ikebukuro train station that is served by JREast, Tokyo Metro and the Tobu Tojo line. Easy access to all of the greater Tokyo metropolitan area. The hotel is rated "First Class," and surely lives up to its designation. The entire facilty is spotless and the rooms are well maintained and have a full compliment of ammenities. Free Internet LAN connection in each room and the business center was also available with a printer and copier. The only downside to this hotel is the cost of the breakfast, which in my opinion is astronomical! Thank god there are two McDonalds within a 5-minute walk!

Easy access to public transport”
Ikebukuro is one of the best locations to stay in Tokyo, and Hotel Metropolitan is one of the best hotels to stay due to its easy and convenient access to public transport. It is less than 5 mins walk away from the Ikebukuro train station (narita express stops here). Airport limo bus also stops in this hotel in Ikebukuro. Yes, it is pricey. The rooms are not large for 3 beds, to be honest. But if I am looking for a hotel in Ikebukuro, Hotel Metropolitan will definitely be my first choice.
