Pretty good location, however very average room
Great location if you intend to shop at Venetian
this is supposed to be a 5-star hotel but it doesn't appear like one. the carpet was stained and the decor was pretty run down. on the brighter side, they provide free internet access in the room and free breakfast! other hotels, such as venetian, charge for internet access and for breakfast. the location, however, is great if you intend to shop at venetian. galaxy and venetian are just within walking distance. it costs less than mop 30 to get to venetian. otherwise one can walk to galaxy next door, and hop onto the available free shuttle buses. although wef 1st jan 2012 there is a new no-smoking law in public places in macau, it is very poorly-enforced. in fact, hotel staff tend to turn a blind eye. i spotted 2 chinese men smoking in the lobby and in the lift at grand waldo. as grand waldo was not as busy as other hotels, there were quite few smokers smoking indoor. however, in other busy hotels like galaxy and venetian, smokers could be seen everywhere! they were smoking in hotel lobbies, shopping malls, toilets, everywhere! they were even smoking at shuttle bus queues and taxi stands. hotel staff did nothing about it even after i complained. those who expect a smoke-free macau after reading about the new no-smoking law will be disappointed, as it is not enforced. for those who are traveling to macau for the first time, please be aware when crossing roads. just like other cities in china, including hong kong, motor vehicles don't stop for pedestrians at pedestrian crossing/zebra cross. in fact, pedestrians are expected to wait till it's totally clear before attempting to cross the roads. i was almost run down by a galaxy hotel shuttle bus while crossing the road just in front of grand waldo. i was half-way crossing the road when the bus approached. instead of stopping, it continued going, just 5 inches in front of me! i was completely shocked and forgot to take down the plate number to report it.

A basic hotel only
price is reasonable and faces the waters.
We had one night stay at this hotel. The room is spacious, but the bathroom is not fancy. The Chiu Chow Restaurant on 1st floor is very lousy and the breakfast is ordinary. As i was checking out, the guests in front of me was complaining to the counter lady that the hotel does not provide simple amenities in the bathroom for guests which is true. Our encounter with the bellboy service and the concierge was good. They were very helpful, but there is no wi-fi in the rooms. You can use wi-fi at the lobby, but very slow when there are more people using it. It is close to the Banyan Tree Hotel and Okura Hotel, so it's convenient to use the shuttle buses outside the Galaxy Hotel to move around town. To do that, you should not exit from the main entrance of the Grand Waldo Hotel but you use the shopping mall direction, down the escalator, walk across the street to Banyan Tree Hotel. This would be much shorter distance.

Strategically located to 5 star hotels and casinos
nothing to think of except the price
The room is not big enough and also the bed. Not much activities in the hotel except for the casino. Since it is located near big hotels so it is very accessible to hop around.

Affordable 5* Hotel
Affordable price as a 5* hotel in comparison to the newer gambling complexes nearby such as Galaxy, Venetian etc
Staff were polite, check-in was prompt. Concierge was helpful. Room was clean. In all, a rather pleasant stay. Hotel was just a stone's throw away from the lastest gambling complex, Galaxy. Our stay coincided with the chinese new year period, and thankfully the hotel wasnt as swarmped as the bigger hotels elsewhere.

on the outskirts
close to the Galaxy and Venetian
compared to the hotels close to the grand waldo you will not find a lot of comfort the prices were not bad - especially during the weekend the breakfast was a bit dissappointing it is a bit far away from anything - just close to the galaxy and the venetian - so it seems to be mainly used by those that want to play in the other casinos but don't want to pay their room rates

Great Location with Comfortable Rooms
Reasonable Room Rate
This hotel is conveniently located just across from Galaxy Macau in Taipa Island. The staff are friendly and willingly assist when required. The room was clean and I found it very reasonably priced (Value for Money). But the hotel was not lively and a bit too quiet when compared with other similar grade hotels in the area.

Nice Hotel but a little isolated
Big Nice and Cosy Rooms and View
Short and nice cosy stay at the Hotel. Good for people who wanna visit the more famous Venetian and Galaxy Hotel/Casinos without paying too many bucks on the accommodation.
