We would recommend to any traveller going to Kuala lumpur.The hotel itself is always clean and staffs are friendly and helpful. Ahyu Hotel is a treasure Chinatown KL. Simple yet elegant in its own special way plus super affordable. The owner and staff are super accommodating. The place is very near to most tourist attraction in KL and just walking distance to tourist spots within the Chinatown area. LRT station is just around the corner so getting to places outside Chinatown would not be a hassle (though we chose to use grab service since we have seniors in our group). The hotel provided our group with a nice and comfortable place to rest after a day of exploring the city. And did I say they have awesome staff? Will definitely be my go to hotel when I visit KL. More recently spruced up than its chain counterparts elsewhere in the city, the Citin Masjid Jamek is an oasis of clean modernity amid the bustling, alluring stench of Little India. Hard to imagine a more central location in KL, with Chinatown, Bukit Bintang still within 15 mins walking distance (and several train stations 2 mins down the street). Get in while it's fresh. We're a couple but they gave us a mattress to throw on the floor for our mate (charging us 35 ringgit). After two nights booked through Agoda at 100 RM, we asked for another night - but had to walk across the room to book again via the free internet to get the discount rate. Extremely friendly and helpful staff with excellent English for the most part.

There are a lot of things I love about Big M Hotel. Before I booked my hotel in KL, I was checking online the reviews. And I did the right choice in staying here. IDEAL LOCATION It has the best location. The train station is just a few meters away. Just at the back of the hotel. So, it’s easier to go to the different places in KL. There are fast food chains in the area. McDo just next door (same bldg). KFC & Burger King are just across. There is also Guardian next to McDo, 7 Eleven & local convenience store across. Central Market, Chinatown, KL City Gallery, temples, Catholic Church, Mosque are just walking distance. Oh! Even KL Tower is just about 30-min walk. ACCOMMODATING & FRIENDLY STAFF When I arrived in the hotel, it was too early for the check in. I requested if I can early check in, and I was so happy that they let me. I was able to leave my stuff. They were all smiling and accommodating. They helped me check in the room, waited for my grab and gave me instructions on how to get to where I want to go. They even let me leave my stuff after I checked out. There is always a staff in the reception area assisting the staff. And they responded to my query and chat in their FB page. I just wish I got their names but unfortunately, I was not able to. But I can commend all of them. COMFORTABLE STAY The room is not so small and not so big. Given that I am alone, this is enough. Even if I have companion, the room is good enough. There is a shelf where can I put my stuff. There is a table, a phone, toiletries. The bed is so comfortable. I had a good sleep. I had a good rest in the afternoon. They gave me free water when I asked. And the blower did a pretty good job during my stay. Hehe. I love also there 7th floor. Where guests can stay, relax and eat. Though I was there just for a few minutes but I love how quiet and relaxing the place. I could definitely recommend this place to my friends and family going to KL. Positioned right in the centre of Chinatown, and a minutes walk from the metro or light rail, it's very convenient to get around KL. The hotel itself is comfortable, even the cheapest rooms are spacious with decent bathrooms and comfortable beds. Wi-Fi is fast and experienced no drop-outs. Common complaint here is that the air-con cannot be adjusted, whilst it didn't bother me, I can see why some people might feel it's too cold. The hotel is showing a few signs of old age, and could do with a bit of an update, that being said for the money it's just fine.

The 5th Element Hotel is a great budget option for staying around Chinatown. I've stayed in several sub $50 hotels in Chinatown and they've been horrid, and this hotel was only a fraction more but really quite nice. We were able to check in to all 3 rooms we'd booked at 11am which was fantastic after an overnight flight, and we were delighted to find our rooms had views over Chinatown and we could clearly see both the KL Tower and Petronas Towers - fantastic! Breakfast was adequate but pretty ordinary, but that's pretty much the norm in lower end KL hotels. Close to Chinatown (literally right in the heart of it), the Central Markets and train stations for access to the rest of KL, I highly recommend this hotel. The street outside the hotel has some of the best street food in all of KL, make sure you try the chicken satays, roti bom and claypot chicken and rice!

The hotel is new so everything is clean and in great condition. I requested a room facing the road during booking and they assigned me such room. I love the location. The hotel is nestled between 2 LRT stations, i.e. Pasar Seni and Masjid Jamek. You can change to MRT line at Pasar Seni. It is literally behind the Central Market so it is convenient to explore Chinatown on foot. The room is new and I love everything about the room. One minus point will be the smell from the toilet. Even though it is spotlessly clean, it can emit some smell when you flush it. Better if you close the toilet lid all the time.

I checked into Arenaa Star on the 21st October and stayed here for 2 nights. It was a very pleasant stay. First and foremost after putting down my luggage, I ventured to the hotel's open air restaurant located on the Mezzanine floor. The seafood olio oglio I ordered was good. I also tried grilled chicken and lamb chop on subsequent days and they are all ridiculously cheap yet extremely tasty. Wow! The friendly and courteous staffs made the ambience all the more better. When it comes to the accomodation, I must say that it has the coziest bed and pillows for you to rest after a long walk tour around KL which you can easiy access via the LRT and is just a walking distance from Chinatown. Not to mention the big and modern bathroom, flat wide screen tv and various themes that represents each floor. For example the 1st Floor represents the Malaysian stars thus you will see the portraits of the local entertainers painted on the wall along the hallways to every hotel room. Not to mention the Hollywood, Bollywood, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Korea etc. You might have a pleasant surprise to see that one of them happens to be your favourite! So in conclusion, Arenaa Stars lives up to its name and is very recommendable for the budget value and comfort.

After getting past a particularly obnoxious male receptionist, who was insisting we had a twin room, when clearly I had booked a double room. We got the room I ordered within minutes, but I could have done without this initial unnecessary unpleasantness! Anyway, this is a great place to stay. Our room on the 4th floor was not spacious but very adequate. Enclosed quality shower, toilet & washbasin. Every comfort that you can think of in terms of amenities were there, even a kettle. Central market is virtually next door with some fine shops. Chinatown market is a few minutes walk, in fact there are so many amenities close at hand, just have a wander & you can find them. Special mention to the Indian restaurant right opposite the hotel (Resoran Tajudin Nasi Briani) just the best food! very helpful staff, warm welcome, & inexpensive too. Enjoy!

My main criteria to choose a hotel near to Sungai Wang and Chinatown is convenient to public transport. A clean room is a bonus. The airport bus from KLIA2 drops me off at the road junction across the road in Chinatown. This hotel is easy to find because it is located within the Pudu Bus Central Terminal building. There is a sign at the main escalator entrance to direct me using the lift to hotel lobby (and Check In reception counter) on the 4th Floor. However, another sign is needed on the 4th Floor once I exited from the lift. The 4th Floor is a food court. Hotel guests need to walk across the food court to another door way leading to hotel lobby. Train services run late into the night, and so it is quite noisy if your room is facing the railway tracks.

I think it's quite a new hotel, run by Tamil staff. Staff friendly and helpful. Ideally situated close to LRT Pasar Seni, Central Market, Kasturi Walk, Jalan Petaling, etc. Not much character, but excellent value, clean, quiet and everything one needs. Great views over the city from window - National Mosque, etc. We booked 3 hotels in Malaysia on this trip, and Lavana was the best (the friendliest and and also the cheapest by a long way). One problem with all hotels was the snail-like Wifi, ironic as there are signs everywhere reading that Malaysia is getting up to speed, 500 Mbps - well, they have a long way to go, and that's compared to Lombok, where I live.

I have stayed here before and it would have been a wonderful hotel at one time. Is still veryoung clean,staff very helpful, everything in good condition. Seems to be a favourite for package tours so not the kind of place to meet new people by the swimming pool. The pool is covered by a roof so is quite cool if not cold. Is very close to Maharajalela Monorail station but not so close to anything else. Is close to Chinatown but probably too close to catch a taxi-hard for it to cross the road to the hotel- making it a bit scary at night to walk home. hotel is situated in the middle of chinatown, if you are hungry for food, there is no worries of finding food to satisfy your hunger. in chinatown, you need to bargain your price when shopping. the guide to bargain is to offer 20% of the asking price of the seller and slowly increase from there based on how much you perceived the buying price to be for each products. do not be bothered by seller's black face when you go way to low, afterall, the decision of buying lies in our hands. i have personally met sellers that would use vulgarities on me when the selling price turns me off the buy their products, but always remember that moving away from the store may bring you to another store that would sell you the same things at the price you wanted. hotel chinatown 2 offers a good lodging, the room may be compact, but it has the basic amenities that requires for a good relaxing stay. centralised air conditioning system that unable you to set the temperature, which doesn't matter to me. small private toilet with standing shower with no bathtub, that is pretty much okay for the price i had paid for. however to highlight, the management is pretty good at crm, i have booked a single room, they upgraded me to a double room for free. drinking water and ironing board can be found on 2nd level. the bad thing is the hotel only have 1 elevator. sometimes, the elevator would be down. it happen during my 3 days 2 nigt stay. but it got fixed when i return. so not much of a worries either. free storage of luggage is available when you check out and decided to roam around for the last time before departure. hotel reception is good, they gave me a couple of advised when i asked them how to get to the new bus terminal at bandar tasik selantan, they mentioned that to take taxi, depends on traffic. it would cost around ringgit. but if there is not much luggage, can consider to take a "shuttle tbs" bus at only $2 ringgit. cool!!!

Just spent one night in kl this time to catch the train to ipoh next day and was looking for a cheap as possible bed. I was quiet surprised to find the most stylish dorm i've ever seen. Everything is new, clean, bright and stylish. There was two toilets and one shower for three people as well as a separate sink in the room. Good aircon, flat tv, free and fast wifi. Hehe, shared the room with two snorkeling guys from pakistan but had a good sleep anyway after a couple of beers in chinatown. You have to pick up your sheet and towel at the reception and there's only one key for three people but the receptionist kindly opens the door if you dont want to wake up your room maids. For my only night a great value for money. If you may share the room with people you know even a good adress to stay for more then one night! Located in chinatown, not to far from everything. A 5min taxi ride to kl sentral.

I've been traveling for 10 months now so when I find places like this, I get giddy. Clean (daily housekeeping), cheap , private rooms with AC, bathroom + shower, and a TV you can plug your laptop into. It's right at the entrance to Petaling Street, Chinatown so cheap street food abounds. The Subway, Light-rail, and bus station are a few hundred feet away making it an ideal cheap place to base yourself out of when solo traveling in KL. If you're looking for a hostel type of place to meet other travelers, this isn't the place for that. It's a nice quiet place for budget travelers to escape the loud or uncomfortable hostel scene for a few days to "treat" yourself and stay within budget. it is easy to go from airport to hotel, i follow the advise from the feedback here and take star shuttle bus. i buy the ticket once out of the airport immigration. the counter people are asking loudly for customers. it is only myr$8 now. the chinatown road is full of push carts that it block the shops on the inside. i can't see the hotel door, need to look for the facade of the hotel. location is still good to go around places, if i lost, i would asked the shop owners. the staff are really helpful too. chinatown is not so chinatown anymore, is flood with t-shirts, watches, bags more for tourists. you hardly see local chineses. not much local foods that i expected, maybe i am on the wrong side totally. the best way to travel is lrt and train. next time i go kl, i will look for places with more locals.

midah hotel is a strategic hotel. it's near with chinatown and monorail station. around 10 minutes to get there. it's also close with supermarket. the hotel quite clean and comfortable. good menu on the breakfast but the staff on the restaurant lack of serving the meal. the hotel also have free wi-fi. the price is reasonable and achieveable. the staff is so friendly although we ask many questions and services.

I just left the Lotus Hotel and was very pleasantly surprised. Its a very comfortable new 3* hotel, with a team of very helpful staff on the reception. Travelling as a solo woman, I felt very safe and well looked after, with absolutely no hassle. The location is great. I get lost anywhere, especially KL! But the hotel is just opposite the LRT station for Jamid Majek, and is between Little India (turn left out of hotel) and Chinatown (turn right). There is even a bustling night market right opposite, and several cheap indian eateries on the same road. To get to KLLC/Golden triangle, either take a short LRT journey of 4 stops, or a taxi for 10 ringitt (£2.50). Really, couldn't have been better.

i always consider location and availability of my needs whenever i choose a hotel particularly if it's only a short trip. in my recent visit to malaysia's capital, i stayed in hotel 1915 kuala lumpur and i was content with everything. despite the small room-area, i like the fact that the toilet and shower (hot & cold) and the rest of the room are clean. its location in lebuh ampang is its main advantage that takes any guest/tourist/traveler near to mrt masjid jamek station (about 5 min walk), chinatown (petaling street, about 10-15min walk), and of course little india where its located. another best factor of hotel 1915 in kl is its vicinity has pharmacy (makes you feel safe about your traveling), convenient store downstairs, and a lot of food places -both commercial fastfood joints and local restaurants. i also like the fact that the hotel provides distilled drinking water every floor with its dispenser. that's petty to some but an important necessity during a trip. overall, i am happy with my stay there as the staff too were very accomodating & friendly. i would consider reserving a room again when i get a chance to be back in kl.

I was really happy with this hotel. The staff was excellent! They were polite, friendly, and quick to respond to any request or problem. The room was comfortable and quite big for the price paid. Breakfast is not much but quite tasty. I like that they always have some fruit available in their breakfast menu. You can also walk to the monorail and to the Chinatown. The only thing I didn't like is that there aren't any fastfood restaurant nearby, but if you're up for adventure and would like to try the culture, there are some small eateries selling cheap food along the alleys going to the monorail.

We had a very peaceful month stay here and extended several times after looking into other places and finding that this is probably the best choice for a base in KL. We stayed in the deluxe queen with windows and a table, a good room to be a base. Very nice cleaning ladies, helpful and friendly staff, hot/cold drinking water, printing at reception, right in the middle of Chinatown for good food and roti canai is here too at night so 0 travel time required for food anytime -- overall our best choice. Food around the area : Was not aware during the day time. But when night fall, the are 2 chinese restaurant at the same roll (1 sellig noodles and there other selling chinese local dishes). Also noticed that there was a burger stall setup in front of 7-11 at night (bought one and tasted good) 13. Chinatown & Time Square are in walking distance

PROS : STAFF OR RECEPTIONIST VERY ATTENTIVE WHEN YOU HAVE SOME QUESTIONS, THEY ANSWER WITH A BIG SMILE THATS A BIG THING TO ME, THEY KNOW HOW TO HANDLE CUSTOMER, AFFORTABLE & HUGE SPACE, VALUE FOR MONEY, NEAR CHINATOWN AND MRT, if you looking for descent and huge room dont hesitate to book this hotel, for 4days i stayed there hotel most of their staff are old but they work hard and they clean the room everyday , and if you will check out just give the key thats it no question ask. And one more thing the wfi has strong signal. Cons. : old building & not much to offer facilities but still good accommodation if you looking for affordable , clean & you have peace of when you leave your room.

As a group of 6 people with a mixture of family and friends, Back Home hostel has a pretty comfortable environment. It's in a central location 10min walk from the little Chinatown market, 10 min drive from the towers, and about a 30 min drive from Batu cave.The staff was also helpful in scheduling and arranging transportation to ensure that we receive the best prices. The atmosphere was industrial chic, and pretty social if you're willing to converse. As a result I connected with a lot of great people, and received great travel tips and recommendations for travel throughout Maylasia. Also breakfast is included.

I think the clue is in the name: mingle. I got the impression the hostel is brilliant for meeting other travellers. The upstairs bar is really nice and serves great G&Ts ;) The place is very hip and just below is a fancy cafe. The location is great...easy access to malls and right by ChinaTown. The best thing about the place is the staff: Very friendly and ever helpful. I caught a glimpse inside a dorm room and each bed seemed to have its own curtain for privacy which I think is a really nice idea. I stayed here with my partner and we booked a double room. Unfortunately the room provided little sense of privacy. You could easily hear from the other rooms. In the morning the daylight couldn't be blocked off and at night you could hear people going to their rooms. Another minus point would be the toilets and showers being a bit of a walk from the room. I've stayed in places that were a respite from a busy day. This wasn't one of them. But it had a vibrancy to it. We're a couple in our mid-thirties so some of the above didn't suit us but I think if you were a traveller in your 20s and wanted a hip place to stay and meet other travellers then this would suit you well.
