Great stop in Sabang!
A really nice hotel with excellent amenities. I really enjoyed staying and diving with them. They have an outstanding dive shop and staff. I'll definitely return

Above average but choose room away from road
Deluxe Room was quite large, clean, bed fair, a/c good, bathroom good, multiple cable channels but outside noise very bad. Choose pool rooms/ suites for more restful sleep. Restaurant food - very very good. Breakfast not incl but cheap, many choices & large portions. Position of hotel perfect as to walk to village ( 3 mins) Staff friendly. They say this is one of best in Sabang - hate to see others as this is 3 and half stars. But yes would stay here again. Improvements- tea/ coffee making facilities needed in room

Noise, noise and more noise
We stayed at The Mermaid on account of the outdoor Jacuzzi tub. Sadly, the Jacuzzi we got was a corner unit, not allowing either of us to fully extend our legs. The hotel is adjacent to the main road coming from the pier. There is a never ending torrent of noise from the road starting in the morning and going until at least midnight. The neighborhood is not the best either and didn't feel safe walking to the beach for dinner. The hotel does not include breakfast with the room and reservation. There is a nice selection of breakfast foods on the menu though. But sadly and shockingly the hotel does not have a hotpot in the room. We had to order a thermos (or carafe) of hot water and two mugs for coffee in the room and on the balcony. The carafe of water hot water was not free. The bed was satisfactory but only just so. If you require a really comfortable bed for a good night sleep then look elsewhere. If you are a light sleeper and are easily awakened by outdoor sounds then look elsewhere. On the positive the laundry service was very fast. We never ran out of hot water. In fact, the hot water is too hot for most people so best to be careful but you surely can take a long shower if you like. The tub is amply large enough to allow a nice relaxing soak, possibly enough for two people. The Internet service performed reasonably well.

Another mediocre tourist area hotel
The location is right in the heart of things
Mermaid resort is your typical over rated tourist destination hotel. Nothing is exceptional, everything is just OK, where tourists on a budget might consider this hotel to be nicer then it actually is. A little tired and worn, can certainly use a good cleaning, with a/c that just cant keep up with the hot and humid weather. Only in a tourist area would anyone rate this hotel greater then 2 stars.

Nice view from top floor rooms
Great penthouse room, jaccusi on balcony, great view
Great room, super clean, great tv channels, internet is weak but enough for emails. Bathroom and Jaccusi on balcony are very fine. You can feel that owners are Danish. So all ok - recommended. Breakfast could be included in the room as its cost is totally marginal (most expensive option is less than 6 dollar). They should offer real expresso coffee instead of only filtered coffee. There seems to be too many rules. For example bottled water on fridge is free but the same bottle in fridge is charged to customer. May be they could be a bit more relax. Over all still one of the best place in town.
