I write very few reviews of hotels and almost do not participate in discussions in online forums, Facebook, etc. So this time, after four weeks of travel in Sri Lanka and visited 9 hotels I had no desire something particularly admire or resent. But not about this wonderful hotel! When you arrive at the "Good Karma" - you'll be screaming "wow"! I guarantee it :) The hotel is situated on a large and empty beach, which is completely surrounded by jungle. Such as this beach you will not find anywhere else - either in Thailand or Bali, or in Goa. Sri Lanka Bravo! :) This is what you look for when choosing a hotel in the tropics - a well maintained garden, lots of greenery and absolutely deserted beach! That's what you dream the whole year in anticipation of a holiday! We were looking for just such a private place to be alone with the beautiful nature of Sri Lanka. If you need a party and shopping, then this is not your choice. There's just you, the ocean and the beach ... New modern and spacious bungalows with stylish furniture, nice and friendly staff. The room is spacious with a large terrace with a stunning view of the ocean! We are lucky that got a room on the second floor ... Huge bathroom in natural stone and modern plumbing. Very big bed! Lovely garden and very green and well-kept area. The only problem this time of year (May-June) - this is the big waves in the ocean, but if you are not afraid of them, you can go swimming :)) We prefered to swim in the pool ;) The restaurant is right on the beach... Fish and seafood every morning brings the local fishermen. Very tasty and cheaply! Do not read other reviews about other hotels! If you come to Sri Lanka and want to spend a few days at the beach alone with yourself or with your family - the best place you will not find. I am writing this review while in this hotel - it's live from the hammock on the beach :) Envy me! ;)

In a word..Paradise”

We have travelled the world and had come to the conclusion that you cannot have a beautiful modern resort with all the amenities on a beautiful quiet beach untouched by tourism.. That is Until we arrived here. This stunning small resort is set on a stretch of beautiful untouched coastline. There is no other hotels on either side as far as the eye can see. It is brand new only open 8 months. There is only room for approx 20 guests at this hotel and that is the maximum number of tourists on the beach at any one time. It is STUNNING. Listening to the waves from the clean 5ft pool or sitting in the outdoor restaurant all day and all night, that really is "Good Karma". There is so few guests here that everyone is familiar with everyone and you feel safe leaving your belongings out. The food and menu was top quality. The BEST fresh prawns and tuna we have ever tasted. The chef is also the waiter, speaks perfect english and has an interest in the food he serves. The manager couldn’t be anymore helpful. The bungalows are so comfortable, 5* in my opinion. Modern archtectural design of Hard wood, white paint and polished concrete finished with all mod cons. The bathrooms are huge and of wonderful design. This resort is the BEST place we have ever stayed in. Would highly recommend at least 3 nights for the ultimate relaxation.

A+ Location, A+ Hotel in Ranna”

Great hotel, although it is located in Ranna, not Tangalle. The beach is phenomenal and deserted, and the restaurant and hotel are right on the beach. Rooms are 10/10, especially 3up and 3 down which are oceanfront. One drawback is the restaurant, food is ok but a limited menu and higher prices. Although, the setting of the restaurant makes up for these shortfalls. The other drawback was the amount of children and babies everywhere. The hotel manager is excellent. Thank you very much we enjoyed our stay immensely.

Great location and hotel”

After two weeks of travel in Sri Lanka we have arrived at this awesome hotel. This is what you look for when choosing a hotel in the tropics - a well maintained garden, lots of greenery and absolutely deserted beach! That's what you dream the whole year in anticipation of a holiday! We were looking for just such a private place to be alone with the beautiful nature of Sri Lanka. If you need a party and shopping, then this is not your choice. There's just you, the ocean and the beach ... The hotel is new, well designed, very stylish furniture, all very clean and comfortable. The room is spacious with a large terrace with a stunning view of the ocean! We are lucky that got a room on the second floor ... Huge bathroom in natural stone and modern plumbing. Very big bed! Well, you know why;) Beautiful garden, lots of plants and flowers, friendly and attentive staff. The owners live right in the hotel and look happy :) The restaurant is right on the beach, a cook named Ajit - pass him hello! :) A lot of fruits and vegetables grown right at the hotel, fish and seafood every morning brings the local fishermen. Jumbo prawns - fantastic! You must order them! Best holiday of my life, good fortune that we were in the hotel "Good Karma".

Indescribably beautiful!”

We stayed 5 nights at the Good Karma Hotel and enjoyed every single day. We arrived late in the evening and found a uniquely beautiful garden and a very affectionate welcome by the hotel manager Sergio.The very friendly hotel manager Sergio took us along with the lovable staff, personally to our suite 3A. We really enjoyed a pleasant surprise when we entered the suite .It was exceptionally clean and very tastefully decorated and the room was a good size . Our compliments also to the successful and exceptional bathroom. Another compliment goes to the chef , we got our daily breakfast whenever we wanted it , without time limit. A great home cooked Sri Lankan curry, which was really a pleasure. The very attentive staff who very lovingly served us breakfast every day, also deserves high praise. Room service was also without complaint and the lady was always friendly and did the job perfect. Regarding the pool is very nice to mention was always clean and welcoming at all times . A fantastic place,highly recommended in every way. We will in any case come back to the suite 3A, there were wonderful and great location , relaxing and lasting pleasant lasting memory. Even Sri Lanka has great places all over, this one we will definetely choose for our regularly stays as soon as possible in hope the Suite 3A will be available in this time, Also we dont want to forget to mention about the absolut fantasic beach. Peace is the word wich come to my mind, whenever i think back to this wonderfull place. Thanks to everybody, whoever was involved to creat and build this perfect place between wonderfull coconut trees, It was surely a immense work and its really a place where we felt so save and comfortable. Lush spa retreat”

Good Karma is situated 25 mins from the centre of Tangalle sourrounded by lush jungle, right on the beach. Our suite which faces the sea was huge and nicely decorated with a large balconey. Food is very tasty, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The spa treatments were just what we needed during our stay and reasonably priced. Would recommend.

Oh so peaceful”

After driving down the rutted road we arrived at the gates of Good Karma. Beyond the gates it was a oasis. Beautiful gardens and the room was upstairs looking over the pool and beach . The beach was a it rough so we couldn't swim but you only had to imagine what it would be like in the right season. Staff was really helpful and the owner was very nice. We both had a massage at the spa which was excellent well worth it. If you want a place to rewind and just relax for a few days this is the place. The food was not the impressive but with a little imagination and training it could be better.

IT WAS FANTASTIC!! I stayed at Good Karma for 2 days with my boyfriend. This is the most relaxing 2 days of my 8-day Sri Lanka trip. Long, clean and quiet beach right in front of the hotel which you can stroll around any time. The beach rarely have any visitors, so most of the time it's a private beach!! The food menu is not extensive BUT is good enough for a short stay. Must try the roasted lobster, curry curry & curry, also the traditional Sri Lanka breakfast!!

We recently stayed for 2 nights at this beautifull place!The beach must be one of the best in Sri Lanka!There are not many beaches like this one,left in the world...it is quiet,beautiful and undeveloped! Good Karma offers luxury acomodation.It is of a high standard,and is very well maintained.The gardens are awesome! This is a place for people who love nature and quiet surroundings.Do not go there if you want nightlive,action,music or like to be between other people... Food is good,but menu is a bit limited.This place is secluded,so there are not many other options for eating in the area. Again Wow!!!This is my type of place!

Paradise holiday off the beaten track!”

If you are looking for a holiday in a secluded bay away from drinking backpackers, mass tourism and beaches full of hotels this is your first choice! You litteraly have a 4km beach for yourself and there is no litterat all on the beach because there are no locals living here or any hotels. The boutique resort with 12 suites are nice and modern decorated, most have great sea view. The tropical garden is very nice maintained and the pool is big enough for cool down if the waves get too wild on the shore. The beach terrace serves as checkin/out area, breakfast/lunch/dinner location and offers premium view of the entire bay (and lovely sea breeze in the shadow). Staff are very friendly but lack off coordination and service knowledge. The food is very yummy because of freshly prepared dishes (eg catch of the day). The lucky guests who find this boutique resort are a mix of couples, families, small groups of friends who are travelling in style and appreciate a calm, relaxing and individual holiday. The highlight: the beautiful little spa with some of the best massage treatments I have ever had. I travel approx 3-4 month of the year and this place is definitely a top-pick for a lovely remote holiday.

Great moments in good karma”

We can really highly recommend good karma hotel for couples. Place we're even better than we could imagine from photos and stuff were really friendly for us. If you need a place for relax and some luxury for your holiday, that would be good choice!!

Stunning location.”

We loved this hotel. Only met one of the Russian owners and she was charming. Absolutely beautiful location on golden sandy beach. Hardly anyone around. Sea was a little precarious and you need to be a strong swimmer to attempt entry but well worth it if you conquer the waves ! ! Lovely laid back staff who were charming. A special thanks to the very helpful and kind manager Doomie. Also to Adji in the restaurant and his charming replacement waiter when he was off for 2 days. They all worked very hard. Not a lot to do around the hotel but we hired a scooter and went to Ranna village and market and also drove around the surrounding dirt track roads . Saw a snake , a Pelican and 5 enormous baboons ! Also went down to the lagoon . Peace, calm and serenity. Diana and Richard.

Away from it all ”

Great location if you want a quiet place and good quality accommodation. We stayed for 3 days with 2 teenagers over Christmas as a luxury part of a road trip in Sri lanka. Located 16km from tangalle this is definitely out of the way, the food is good catering for a range of requirements but limited options locally if you want non hotel food - the fish restaurant close by is good. Sea is pretty rough here so pool was nice option after having some fun in the waves. Friendly staff with options for trips out.

Perfect relaxation away from it all”

We had real problems finding the hotel as it seems the telephone number on Agoda voucher didn't work. Finally our taxi driver managed to locate it after asking several people along the way. It is really totally remote on Rekawa beach, and the last access road was amazing, a path full of potholes, with cows on it. We were really wondering if we would ever get there when suddenly, we were in front of a beautiful brand new hotel. Nice gardens, beautiful clean and new room, and that amazing view on a perfectly clean and deserted beach. Toally relaxing. But not much to do around apart from walks on the beach and a swim in the swimming pool, so not for everybody. If you want perfect views and total relaxation, bring a good book and it'll be bliss. The cook was excellent and improvise some delicious vegetarian dishes for us, which was quite amazing, seeing how remote the hotel is.

Excellent rooms with privacy by the beach”

After being initially horrified at seeing the amount of flies in the kitchen, we spent a wonderful 3 nights here. The service from Morish was excellent and definitely improved our stay. The rooms are lovely with nice views. The pool is great and the huge wide beach directly in front is lovely to stroll along. Was way to rough to swim though. The food was very good however there were many flies/bees attacking the marmalade in the mornings. Rooms only had euro plugs and Good Karma is also a fair way from Tangalle if you need to purchase anything as we did. Lighting could also be improved in the bathroom but overall it was a very nice stay and we were sad to leave.

Great location, spacious and clean rooms, well-kep”

We booked this hotel just for one night, but had lived it in six days. If you are looking for a place to relax away from the noise and partying, this hotel is for you. We were with two children and it was our best vacation for the last few years. Fantastically beautiful and empty beach - we spent on it all day without seeing anyone. Very clean and large rooms, great views of the ocean from the terrace and from rooms, nice pool, very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant is located right on the beach, the chef prepares not only what is stated on the menu, but takes into account all your wishes. Very tasty and very large portions. We will plan to return to this hotel with our friends at Christmas.

Alone Beach”

Problem with water, you have to pay extra for bacon ... The garden was beutiful but you can stay for hafe the prise At Darvins Beach resort and they can fix all the things you want for exempel massage. Darvins Beach resort was about 500 meter from Good Karma We L'et our driver live there because the Karma has now place for him as they usel have. The pool was deep and not for children That was better At Darvins

Good but don't bring kids ”

Good Karma Hotel is a beautiful hotel with a perfect beach. The upper rooms are best. The first room we got was humid and smelly, so we changed the room. The second room was much better. The restaurant could be better, the menu is small, and the quality is not very good. We went there with two small kids. We were not aware, that they normally don't take kids, it was not a big problem, and they treated them nice, but I think the hotel is better for couples

Amazing beach where you can be on your own.”

Stayed three days in this hotel and it was great. I can highly recommend this place if you need a few days on a lonely beach. With lonely, i mean very lonely... i was completely alone on the beach. The hotel is new and everything is spotless. Nice luxury design rooms. Great pool. Helpfull owner who lives in the hotel. One disadvantage: there is nothing close-by... no shops, no restaurants,... you need to call-in a tuk-tuk for everything. Still, away from everything is why you want to choose this hotel.
