Feels Like Home!”
I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived but was pleasantly surprised by what I found. Although I arrived four hours early, the staff was polite and let me store my luggage and hang out in the lounge until check-in time. The rooms are cleaned daily and kind of remind me of a cleaner and more modern version of a sleep-away camp cabin. The room I was in the first night had four bunks and the second room had 6. The only reason I switched rooms is because I had checked out in the morning and left my luggage while I went to explore. While exploring I came down with a migraine and didn't want to travel that night as planned. Both nights were excellent. There is a lounge with couches and tables, two computers, and plenty of electrical outlets. Although people stayed here and chatted, the sound could not be heard in the bedrooms. There is a simple breakfast offered of toast and juice. I am quite directionally challenged and so got lost the first time I tried to find Homey Hostel. With the help of gps tracking I found it. ^^ Nearby is a small and cute shopping area. It is a few intersecting streets and has beautiful jewelery shops, hair accessory and hat and bag shops, and even some home decor shops. I live in Taichung and haven't seen anything like this shopping place. If you come out of Taipei Main Station at Y13 and go down the first street you see on the right, you will me amidst the peaceful streets. =) I highly recommend the Homey Hostel if you are looking for something that won't break bank, makes you feel comfortable and welcome, and is close to Taipei Main Station. I will DEFINITELY be going again!

I always stay here on Taipei stopovers to the USA since I can easily drag a wheeled suitcase back & forth to the bus/train station. Although a little pricey when booked w/o paying cash on arrival, this is easily one of the best hostels/guest houses I have ever stayed at (albeit I am used to traveling around SE Asia), a good value when you consider that breakfast + water + coffee/tea is free and it was very easy to find - even arriving at night as you just need to look for the giant McDonald's sign coming from the Taipei Main Train Station and then turn left. Its also easily reachable via the Zhongshan station where you are much less likely to get lost as the main train station is a confusing maze underground. Breakfast is toast with fruit (oranges or banana slices) from 8:30-11 am or so, but you might want to get up closer to 8:30 am to ensure that you get some fruit. There is free tea (black and green), coffee & water from a water machine available 24/7 so there is no need to spend money on bottled water or bottled caffeine or something to eat in the morning to get you started - meaning the price to stay here is a good value. There are only 4-5 toilets + showers on the main floor + some more upstairs, but I usually did not have to wait. But if you get up early and enmass (there may be big groups staying here), then maybe you will need to wait - so just plan accordingly. They have lockers with combo locks on them (Note: You can't use your own locks on the lockers) + the staff keeps key to open if you forget the combo. Wifi was usually good enough to upload large numbers of photos and videos, but sometimes that would take awhile at certain times a day - nothing that was unreasonable. Most guests are Asians (Koreans/PRCs/Japanese), but on recent trips I am seeing more white faces + they now have some western staff (students learning Chinese) - you can always find one who can speak basic English to answer your questions or deal with any problems. Perfect Place to Base Yourself to See Taipei!”
On this Taipei stopover, I stayed 1 night before catching a train to Kaohsiung; but in Dec, I had stayed 8 nights & wrote a detailed review then. Although a little pricey when booked w/o paying cash on arrival, this is easily one of the best hostels/guest houses I have ever stayed at (albeit I am used to traveling around SE Asia), a good value when you consider that breakfast + water + coffee/tea is free & it was very easy to find - even arriving at night as you just need to look for the giant McDonald's sign coming from the Taipei Main Train Station & then turn left. Its also easily reachable via the Zhongshan station where you are much less likely to get lost as the main train station is massive/confusing when you get underground. Breakfast is toast with fruit (oranges or banana slices) & cherry tomatoes from 8:30-11 am, but you might want to get up closer to 8:30 to ensure that you get fruit. There is free tea (black & green), coffee & water from a water machine available 24/7. I was concerned there might not be enough toilets or showers (4 or 5 of each on the main floor) but I never once had to wait. But if you get up early and enmass, then maybe you will need to wait - so plan accordingly. They also have lockers with combo locks on them (You can't use your own locks on the lockers) & if you forget the combo or mess it up, the staff does have a key that can be used to open the lockers. Wifi was usually speedy enough to upload large numbers of photos & videos but sometimes that would take awhile at certain times a day. On Friday or Saturday evenings (I think), they organize walking or Youbike tours. Most guests are various Chinese, Koreans & Japanese. The staff (some were the same as when I stayed in Dec) were either young locals or Koreans & you could always find one who could speak basic English to answer your questions or deal with any problems. They can also organize trips or carpools or arrange airport pickups for groups as well.

One of the recommended hostels to stay”
It's my second time to go to Taiwan, now with my partner and it was very advantageous for us to stay in a hostel near Taipei Main Station. Homey Hostel houses a very cozy environment where you can mingle with other nationalities and the locals. The staff are very helpful with our inquiries. Everything was clean and organized and they even offer tours and bike rentals at a discounted price! So for those who would like to travel to Taiwan and stay near the train and bus terminals, Homey Hostel is a place to be. Kudos to Dave by the way for accommodating us from check-in to check out.

First time staying hostel and I have really pick the RIGHT ONE!”
Location is accessible both Taipei main station (4mins) and Zhongshan station (8mins) Accessible to convenience shops (7-11, and mini mart) and many more others shop houses with nice food. Nearby the hostel, there is a famous japanese sashimi don/sushi ( Shan Wu), Long queue donut just beside. @taipei main station there is a few malls and underpass shops.. Its very convenience as there are HSR, MRT, Airport Subway , Bus station. Where you can travel anywhere easily.. @zhongshan Station which is the brown and green line.. Hostel, staffs are all really friendly.. rooms, toilets and all other areas are well clean. You get to see many international staffs working there and that was really interesting Nicest highlights, only this hostel provide a tour for you! You get to go sightseeing, food tours (which i attended).. you get to make new international friends! I was really satisfy about it. :) I will come back again definitely and best recommendation for any one of you:)

Cozy hostel near Taipei Main Station”
Homey Hostel is only a few minutes walk from an MRT station, which makes it a strategic location for exploring Taipei. Friendly staff. Free (light) breakfast, coffee and tea. Comfortable beds; every bed comes with a curtain, so you feel a bit of privacy, which is nice. The hostel frequently plans events, such as tours on Friday and Monday, so it is very easy to meet other travelers. If I ever come back to Taipei I'd definitely stay at Homey again. Only negative is my room's air conditioning was not working for the first couple nights of my stay.

Hi Ian, Thank you for staying with us. Sorry for the AC problem, since we had technical problem for the system and we were fixing it ( The hot summer of Taiwan nearly wear out our machine :P) We are happy you like the bed curtain, they are specially light block and silent designed, to make our guest feel more secure and private. And hope you make incredible friendship and memories in our tour, we like to take guest explore our culture and see their smile:) We are glad you have wonderful stay in Homey and always welcome back! I was concerned there might not be enough toilets or showers (4 or 5 of each on the main floor) but I never once had to wait (maybe Asians just don't mess about and take forever in bathrooms!) even though I was there for 8 nights and the place was often full. Since I would be staying awhile, they put me in the same room as the interns / employees staying there and I did not have to worry about my valuables. They also have lockers with combo locks on them (Note: You can't use your own locks) & if you forget the combo or mess it up, the staff does have a key that can be used to open them. I had a top bunk which have rectangular rungs rather than round ones (latter are hard on the bottoms of my feet) & Wifi was usually speedy enough to upload large numbers of photos. On Friday or Saturday evenings, they organize walking or Youbike tours with the one I went on going to the top of Elephant Peak for a night view of the city and Taipei 101 and then to a night market area. Most guests are Koreans/ PRCs with some Japanese & non-Asians. The staff were either young locals or Koreans and you could always find one who could speak basic English to answer your questions or deal with any problems. Clean and excellent location.”
It is located at the 7th floor of an old building so elevator is kind of old looking but the hostel is all hip and modern. The common room is big and clean. We stayed in a 2 bunk bed room in the 8th floor which is not big but adequate if you don't have a lot of luggage. It was very clean and I have no complaints. The bathroom was shared but I have no complaints with the cleanliness as well. The hostel is very near the Taipei Main Station (5-10 min walk or about 2 blocks) which also house not just the mrt but the bus station as well. This was good for us because we used the MRT a lot and rode the bus to the airport. Overall I had a good stay and would stay there again if I decide to go back to Taipei.

Wonderful place to stay”
I am far more than satisfied with my staying at Homey for my 7 day summer vacation. Room for 14 ppl is great. Common room is beautiful and convenient. Staff are awesome. Location is good, too. I have nothing to complain about. All most of my group are young girls, and we are very happy to stay in a beautiful spacious hostel like Homey. If I have chance to come back to Taipei, I want to stay in Homey again. Thanks Homey staff to make a home far away from home to travelers like us. With love, Thu Nga
