Great location for night life but needs renovation
Owners need to install new flooring and a complete paint job as carpeting is well past life expectancy in both common areas and rooms. Owners need to put a few bucks into renovation. Hate to say it but there were definitely cockroaches, black and brown. Central hotel location but a bit hard to find because it is located off the main street. Bring clear map for taxi driver and tell him near Pat Pong night market and Tawana hotel. Breakfast "buffet" very limited but OK if you're not a big breakfast person. Air con works well as does plumbing. Mini bar in room and lots of restaurants in easy walking distance. Staff friendly and their English better than most hotels in Thailand. US equivalent of older unrenovated roadside Holiday Inn or Ramada but location location. Good value for money if booked on Agoda.

Never disappoints...
Always a warm welcome here--and everything (though outdated) works. Carpets are stained and furniture is worn; the hotel is undeniably shabby. However, the genuine hospitality, convenient location, and considerable comfort more than make up for the Tarntawan's shortcomings.

Friendly, gay orientated
Great location and the friendliest people in BKK. This hotel has no fabulous facilities but the rooms are a good size although some maintenance issues are evident. Breakfast is very good & their times are more flexible than most hotels. Also taking guests into your room is well organised with security a priority but not in an obtrusive way.

Friendly staff but hotel is super dated ...
Carpet, furniture and decor all have a very early 1980s feel. Staff are very friendly. No pool, no gym and a lot of smokers. They definitely need to improve the wine selection.

One time was enough
Staff. Location. Ease of check in/out
Once upon a time this hotel would probably have been a pleasant place to stay but now it has a shabby appearance and in dire need of refurbishment. The first room we were shown was noxious. Carpets were worn, dirty and had an unpleasant damp smell. A different room was offered which was better but was noisy from the industrial kitchen extractors outside the window which itself only offered a view of a wall just outside the window which let in little daylight. Air conditioning was noisy and the temperature could not be controlled by the thermostat. It was either freezing cold or no cold air at all. The bathroom was dowdy, with an open drain from which emerged an abundance of insect life. The upside was the staff. all of whom were cheerful and helpful throughout. Overall this is a shabby hotel which has seen better days in a good location with plenty of entertainment and restaurants nearby.
