Best hotel in Kai Bae”

So this appeared to be the nicest place to stay by miles if you are in Kai Bae. The rooms are very nice, the gardens are lovely and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately at the moment (End Oct 13) there is building going on all around the hotel (both to the side and behind it) which is causing some noise in areas during the daytime. Luckily we were moved, but if it is full you might not be so lucky! However, the place to the side seems to be nearing completion, so this might be completed before christmas, so one source of noise may stop soon. Also the hotel are giving you some money back to spend at the restaurant/bar by way of compensation & apology. The more you have spent the more you get back to spend. We had a superior so got 300/day back, delux got 450/day etc. Koh Chang is not that amazing, we found it too developed (but the beach right at the bottom is lovely during the daytime), but probably nicer than much of the other places closer to Bangkok. By the sound of it if you have time it is probably worth spending the extra time going to Koh Kut to see if that is nicer?

Great Location on Kai Bae, pricey but worth it”

Stayed at Gaja Puri for a couple of nights on our wedding anniversary, couldnt have asked for anywhere better - it completely fulfilled our expectations. Lovely setting, great rooms, couldn't fault the service or facilities. Its just off the main Kai Bae strip - a short stroll to any of Kai Baes bars restaurants and shops - but it is quiet, peaceful and secluded with an almost private beach. Huge bath and power shower in the room...garden and buildings look great and are well maintained...staff were polite and helpful. It was a bit pricey for us and there are other good options around Kae Bae that are more modestly priced - but we were treating ourselves for a couple of days - and I would say that Gaja Puri more than holds its own in comparison with other places to stay in the area that are in the same price range

Great place to stay”

We booked a family villa which had 2 stand-alone rooms inside a large private compound. The hotel has two pools, the larger one is long enough for lap swimmers. The smaller one is shallower and suitable for children. There are plenty of lounge chairs around the pools and near the beach. Re- the beach If you walk just a few meters to the right of the hotel, the bottom is all sand and a good place to swim. Conversely, as you go left, toward Dewa and The Chill hotels, the beach gets quite rocky and narrow until it disappears completely. From the hotel it is just a few minutes walk to a variety of shops & restaurants. Breakfast was good. After visiting White Sand and Klong Prao, I prefered Kai Bae beach--the sea here also seemed cleaner. All in all, we had a nice stay at Gajapuri.

Relax and good sleep”

The first night we have been in the room 117 that is a particular room under the breakfast kitchen of the main bulding. That was the worst point of our stay in the Gajapuri. The room is old and smells of mold. Inside the room you also have an hydro, and many extras like dvd player etc. but ultimately the room does not show up well, especially from the outside and the value for money was very bad. We ask to change the room and the staff was very nice to find a better solution to a wooden ecological hut (like the 90% of the room of gajapuri) and finally we began to be happy of our room. Very clean, big bed, beautiful shower and toilet the room is all made ​​of natural wood and I enjoyed it very much because it is a way of building sustainable. Thanks to the staff always ready to answer our questions. We also attended the New Year's Eve dinner which was wonderful with an abundance of food of all kinds. I hope to come back to Gajapuri resort in the future.

Very good”

Relaxing beautiful resort . Gardens are lovely and all feels calm & luxurious. It really works to split adult and family areas _ both pools are great and as adults you can use both. Downside is that as other reviews have said, there is no beach here- it's sea side not beach side. The south Kai bae beach isnnt far to walk and you can taxi to beach at v far end of island ( best beach by far on island quiet and more Thai). Kai bae isn't great- busy with lots of Russian tourists. The standard room looked a bit tired at first but isn't - is just well used, private and clean. Breakfast fantastic. Restaurant food good. My only negative feedback is that reception is poor and check in was a mess. I was told I needed to log in and print voucher - never seen this in an expensive hotel!!? Not happy to pay a lot to be made to wait long time in heat no welcome drink and other guests being served first after a ten hour drive from Cambodia with a sick husband and one year old.

Tranquil hotel on a busy resort island ”

We were arriving in Koh Chang with nowhere to stay and booked this based on some other excellent reviews and for the most part we were not disappointed. A lot of the other resort on the island seemed to be more hotel style, but Gaja Puri just seemed that little bit different. Individual beach huts nestled away in beautiful forest, very tranquil and plenty of peace and quiet despite being in a great location for bars, restaurants and shopping. The food at the pool side restaurant was also among the best I have ever had in Thailand. Would highly recommend the spicy shrimp and crispy squid salad. This is a great dish, and we ordered it every time we ate at the hotel. Unfortunately the complimentary breakfast was not quite as good. Same, limited selection every day and after a week we found ourselves eating brekky outside the hotel. Private beach area is small and a little rocky but plenty of other options nearby. Still a very nice place to lie and watch the sun set with a couple of cold Singha’s served by very friendly, attentive staff.

Peaceful and Quiet”

The Gajapuri is a lovely resort, but do not be fooled, it has no beach to really speak of. If you want to kick it on a beach you will have to travel somehow to get to one, but with 2 pools this is a minor issue. Just be sure that the ocean front rooms are not really ocean front, as there are trees bordering the property on it's sea side, so there is not much of a view. The staff of this resort are all very nice and helpful. Being there during the pandemic it was virtually deserted, I was the only guest there for a few days. they grow their own sprouts and greens organically for their cafe, where they served breakfast near the waterside, which was nice. Within a couple of days they knew my idiosyncrasies and took little to prompt them to get them to serve me what I wanted for breakfast... The hotel is right in the heart of Kaebe, close to lots of restaurants. Kaebe to Klong Prau is about half open, White Sand Beach is about three quarters shuttered, and Lonely Beach same same.

Gaja Puri”

We stayed here over Chinese New Year 2010, the resort is very well looked after, friendly staff and we throuroughly enjoyed every minute of the stay. I have stayed in different places on Koh Chang, and in this price category, this is my top choice so far. It is definetly value for money given the high standard of the rooms and resort as well as the well trained staff. You are also a little further away from party beaches with lots of backpackers and budget travellers, which to me is definte plus. For families or rainy days there is the large DVD library if you are getting tired of sunseeking, hiking and other activities. All in all, one of the most the most enjoyable breaks that I have spend in Koh Chang.

A real sanctuary on Koh Chang”

We extended our stay as we really, really loved the Gajapuri. The rooms were fantastic, the pool was big and very clean and the staff was amazing. Perfect relaxation in a perfect environment. Beautifull gardens and a great spa make Gajapuri an excellent choice on Koh Chang. We will for sure be back!

Just amazing”

That we booked Gajapuri can be attributed a lot to the luck. Many other listings look on the bar or even better but, in reality, they are not. A lot of them are facades. Lets fo step by step: Hotel in general: Gajapuri is not a party hotel. It respects the quiet and calm environment. Rooms: every room is the small private house. In excellent, amazing, etc... condition and really well made. Beach: small but clean, not crowded, pure sand, just beautiful Hotel location: located probably at the best beach area at the island. Most massage parlors, shops, eating place in walking distance. I can go on and on with a good stuff but you probably get the pic already. Amazing place will suggest to everyone (except if you are Pattaya type party animal, then avoid it for everybody's sake)

Nice resort with great food without the best beach”

We stayed two days at this resort, and I must say I liked it a lot. We came for peace and relaxation, and for that, liked the place a lot. The beach just outside the hotel is okay (but not the best). The beach Kai Bae however is close and excellent. Otherwise, I would like to mention that we were very satisfied by the food served at this resort.

Breathtakingly Relaxing”

Our stay at Gajapuri Resort was absolutely breathtaking. It was very private, one on one, with nature surrounding us & the beach cleansing our body, mind & soul from the stress of urban hustle bustle. Our room with jaccuzi, was very well equipped and superbly comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the restaurants also had a quality menu to offer. Access to ATM's, convenient stores, restaurants, transport, massage parlors etc was very flexible as all where available just in the vicinity. All in all, we had an amazing break at Gajapuri and will always remember our good time there. Definitely would like to go back in the near future if opportunity arises. Wish all the best to Gajapuri Resort and its team!!

Lovely small hotel with all the mod cons ”

we were upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi bath on arrival which was nice but didn't use the bath! the room was a good size with a very comfortable bed and had modern features including an in room entertainment system which we could sync our ipods to via bluetooth. service was very pleasant. good breakfast. food at the pool bar was a bit pricey (pad thai baht) but very tasty. location on kai bae beach was lovely with a quiet sunbed area overlooking the beach. trees also provided some welcome shady spots. pool was fine but didn't overlook the beach. free kayaks. road that the hotel was on had lots of shops and bars, but a lot were closed as it was not the high season. lovely small hotel with a boutiquey feel. good for a few nights stay. would definitely recommend and would stay there again.

A very happy vacation on the island ”

I was very pleased with choosing Gajapuri. Friendly and helpful staff. Two swimming pools, one for adults only and the other for children. Both were very good and I saw staff testing the water in the mornings. Location is far from the white sand beach; but you would be glad that you didn’t stay there. Taking a taxi to and spending a day at the white sand beach is enough. I would rather stay at the resort enjoying peaceful mind. There are 7-11 and lotus store close by, not to mention the restaurants and fruit stands. A good variety of food to choose from, and all were inexpensive and delicious. The resort had direct access to the beach which was prettt rocky. But my kids enjoyed more playing with the sand and swimming in the pool. No complaint at all. We had a great time there and would definitely visit again.

Beautiful little resort ”

After spending quite a while researching accommodation on Koh Chang, we were very, very happy with our choice. Especially after seeing some of the others we nearly chose! The chalets are absolutely gorgeous. They are very European in their style and in their construction and are equipped with lots of mod-cons. Plasma Screen, Kicking sound system, mini-bar, great and quiet air-con, safe. And we chose a chalet with a jacuzzi bath. The bed was very comfortable and the showers had really good pressure. The staff were fantastic and couldn't do more for us. They were smiley and so friendly. The resort itself is very nicely laid out and has a very clever little walkway all the way through it down to the beach. The beach is quite small and when the tide is out - which is 12 hours a day in Thailand - it can mean it is even smaller. But the sand is nice and the water is lovely. There is a great view of the islands. The seating area at the beach is well spaced out and the staff serve drinks to your lounger. I also had one of the best massages I've ever had in the Gaja Puri. The girl that did it was amazing. Well worth staying there for that alone. The breakfast was quite basic and very European, so we didn't bother having dinner or lunch on site as there was plenty of choice outside the hotel on the main road. We visited a few other resorts when we were there and were thrilled that we had decided to stay at the Gaja Puri. It is a little gem of a place that is well worth a visit! We couldn't recommend it highly enough!

Nice weekend in Gajapuri Resort & Spa”

We enjoyed spending 2 nights at Gajapuri Resort & Spa. You can have either a bungalow close to the beach or a great villa more in the garden. Our bungalow was nice and comfortable, clean and large. The beach is nice but not easy for swimming (not much water), and you can relax watching the sunset is nice. Spa is nice and massages are good. Restaurant serves local good food and god breakfast. We could rent easily motorbike to explore this nice and green island.

Stunning hotel in a quiet location”

the gajapuri was everything i could have asked for and more. i was upgraded to a beachfront cabin which was spacious, spotless and very well equipped. i had a big flat screen tv, an ipod dock and a dvd player (the hotel had a great dvd library to choose from). the bathroom had a nice and very clean tub as well as a huge walk in shower. the towels were bit, very white and very absorbent. hot water was a bit erratic but that was because of the small size of the tank. my only complaint was that the wifi signal wasn't strong enough to reach my room so i had to work in the bar or on a deck chair. i spent most of my time at the gajapuri sitting on my front porch or on a lounge chair a feet from the front porch. breakfast was good and even featured good german bread - the owner is german. a good experience all around.

Exceptional”

Exceptionally peaceful and quiet hotel, perfect relaxation. Very spacious grounds, big adults only pool with lots of sun beds. Beautiful views of beach, ocean swimming possible at high tide only. Included Breakfast good, beachfront restaurant for lunch and dinner also a good option for a meal with a stunning view. Kai Bae Main Street lots of options for food, massage, shopping etc. We will return!

A relaxing stay in a beautiful setting”

A lovely relaxing stay in a small 'boutique' style hotel. The hotel is set out with individual bungalow style accommodation reached by means of a raised wooden walkway. There are only about 20 rooms in total, so there is a feeling of peacefulness and privacy about the whole place. The deluxe room that we stayed in was large, clean with a partial view of the beach and swimming pool. The swimming pool, bar and beach restaurant are in a great setting. The beach itself is fairly rocky underfoot so sandals/flip-flops are needed for paddling, however the pool is close at hand if you fancy a swim. The view from the beach at sunset can be stunning. The staff were all very friendly and helpful too. The only thing I would mark the hotel down on is the limited choice available at the breakfast buffet. However, given the relatively small amount of other guests staying at the hotel it can be in some way understood. There is a wide variety of shops, restaurants and bars within easy walking distance from the hotel, but as the hotel is set back from the main road in the resort the sound from them never caused a disturbance. Overall the stay at the hotel was very good. I would recommend it to other people and would definitely include it in my choices if staying on Koh Chang again.
