Great for a break in your journey”
We stayed a night at the Astor as a way of breaking the (very tedious) drive to Melbourne - allowing us to leave Canberra 'after work' one day and still be in Melbourne by lunch time the next day - and that after a leisurely breakfast at the beautiful park by the Murray in Albury. Late arrivals are able to check in via the bar at the adjacent pub. While compact, the rooms have everything you need for a good night's sleep. The location, between the 'new' bypass and the centre of Albury, is perfect. Noise was not an issue - and we were there on a Friday night. Maybe not the place for your romantic Albury get-away, but excellent for people travelling through !
A Friendly Aussie Motel - even for a Pom”
Convenient, sensibly-priced motel to break the long drive from Melbourne to Sydney. A great night's sleep in a clean and comfortable room with everything a traveller needs. Fridge, TV, wifi, crockery, cutlery and even washing-up liquid. Luxurious white cotton sheets, worthy of a 5 star hotel. Super friendly and helpful staff, who helped us connect to their Internet and dispensed refreshing cold beer at sensible prices (even to a Pom!) Better than any of the 100's of US motels where we've stayed. A big thank you to the Astor team.
Older but ideal for an overnight stop in Albury”
i needed a convenient and inexpensive place to stop overnight in albury that would allow me to get back on the road early the next morning. the astor fit the bill perfectly. it was easy to find - just a block or so off the freeway. the room was clean and comfortable and i was able to order a lovely (and inexpensive) meal in the bistro.
The best value”
I have stayed here a number of times previously over the years and it always serves its purpose so well. The rooms, although small and simple compared to more expensive motels, are clean and have all the basics you require during a short stay. It's a 5-10 walk to the heart of the CBD however you may not find it necessary to go elsewhere considering the large, modern hotel area with meals, drinks, TAB, pokies, etc.
nice & quite.”
my stay at the astor hotel/motel was nice & relaxing.
Good location with small rooms”
the hotel/motel is easy to find, being on a main corner near the ramps to the sydney – melbourne bound hume highway or hume freeway. the room we had was small, but for the price & it only being 2 nights, it was ok. food in the hotel upstairs is great – i especially recommend their pepper sauce with pretty much anything. presently, the wifi (1 hour is given free, $2/hour after that) connection in the downstairs rooms isn’t worth worrying about – way too slow to do anything with if you can hold the connection. hopefully this will be fixed before our next stay. aldi & bunnings across the road, dan murphy’s is a block or so away (past aldi). woolworths is a 10-15 min walk.
great location but mattresses need replacing”
astor hotel motel is conveniently located off the hume highway, great for a halfway stop when driving from the act to vic. unfotunately, both my wife and i woke with body aches due to soggy and poor quality bed mattresses. management should provide a comfortable bed and more people would recommend the place to stay
Comfort and food on the run”
The hotel motel met our requirements - and more- after we decided to eat at the bistro and a short walk back to our room.
Great stay”
Stayed here before. Clean rooms and king bed which was very comfortable. Good shower. Great price. Had tea in hotel and great meal and service. Will come again.
Good value for money”
We needed a quick bed - comfortable and affordable - on our journey to Canberra. This motel was very well located and easy to find. It was clean and suited our purposes well.
motel with loud bistro near freeway”
This would have been a good place to stay mid week in the cooler months. I stayed Saturday night, after driving from Melbourne, on a warm night looking forward to an early tuck in before a long drive to Sydney. I booked sight unseen on the internet. Had I known that this small room was directly opposite the bistro where a band was starting up after 9 pm then I would have not chosen this Motel. This is obviously why it was cheap. In this case booking online failed me. A lousy night's sleep, an early morning and a long road ahead. ps. this is the first motel that I have stayed in that did not supply a couple of biscuits with the tea and coffee...................?
Functional room, great value for money”
The exterior doesnt look much and seems quite dated. We were also not expecting much for price paid. But to our surprise, the experience was more than positive. Not only was the room clean and spacious, the bedding was comfortable, the furniture up to standard, the bathroom bright.
Convenient location and good value”
for the price, it's good value for its convenient location and simplicity. don't expect a resort hotel. it's an economical rest stop for the long trip between melbourne and canberra.
great food reasonable price”
This motel was easy to find, just off the highway a great stop between Sydney and Melbourne. the hotel bistro was good value and really good food.
fair deal, no frills hotel”
Well priced ,clean and convenient hotel. Bar food varied and friendly service but don't go there when a band is playing because it is ridiculously loud!
Good cheap stay”
Good place. I was on my own so I went to the pub for a meal & few drinks. Very good happy hour prices & nice beer garden with spinklers. The lasagna was great. Bed was very comfortable & room tidy & didn't matter to me that it was a bit dated. Nice friendly staff aswell
Close to Hwy”
Very simple motel but was clean and convenient for a nights sleep on a road trip to Melbourne. Shower pressure was very good
Albury Visit”
Cheap & cheerful motel with clean rooms, but you must like a solid bed, as the king bed we had was pretty hard.
Nice rooms”
Nice rooms, but misleading pricing on menu... Needs to be more clear, and better value around corner at commercial club.
just stay and go”
The room smell bad and the furniture need to be refurbished more than 80%. The carpet and curtain is covered with dust. Cheap price equal to quality. Friendly staff. Great location but there are tons of accommodation in Albury that looks better than this place.
